8.5 / 10.0 - Pikmin 2
Jul 7, 2023

Pikmin 2 is back, now on Switch, in a simple but honest edition. The port doesn't bring any significant new features, but it's an easy way to enjoy a classic game on a current console. Especially for those who were already big fans of the series or never played, this is a beautiful opportunity to explore this world of small creatures.

8.5 / 10.0 - Pikmin 1
Jul 6, 2023

Pikmin 1 not only gave me an extremely enjoyable and fun experience, but also made me want to enjoy all of its sequels. With visuals that remain quite charming and, above all, with solid, functional and indescribably fun gameplay, this is a game that justifies its arrival on Switch and deserves to be checked out by any video game lover.

7.5 / 10.0 - Burnhouse Lane
Jul 3, 2023

Burnhouse Lane does not present great challenges in terms of gameplay, and can be considered an easy game in terms of gameplay in general. However, the topics addressed are difficult to construct in dialogue and, at this point, there is no denying that the work done by the Michalski brothers is sufficiently competent. Unfortunately, technical issues end up affecting the experience, but if the player doesn't need to close the game, it's an easy recommendation for those looking for an excellent interactive story.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 is a game that presents an intriguing premise but executes it poorly, to say the least. Though it has some good value that might please fans of simulation and RPG, the title has a lot of annoying bugs that significantly hinder the experience.

Harmony: The Fall of Reverie is an experimental visual novel with relevant social themes and an unorthodox concept of narrative navigation. Though there are many elements that deserved more polishment, I'd still say the sum of its parts leads to a positive result and it's worth diving into this story.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective remains a great adventure title that deserves attention thanks to its inventive way of dealing with a ghost's exploitability and agency. Couple that with the creator's well-written crazy twists and here's an unmissable game back on today's consoles.

Raiden III x Mikado Maniax brings back a Moss classic with various new music. It's worth a shot as a good example of its genre, and, even with the feeling something better than individual re-releases of this and Raiden IV could have been done, it's a title that offers exactly what it intends to and is quite fun.

6.5 / 10.0 - Skautfold: Usurper
Jun 21, 2023

Skautfold: Usurper is a reasonable metroidvania in its proposal and fulfills what is expected of a game of the genre. However, the various small issues stack up to keep the experience from standing out within a market that has much better games already available. At the moment, it is only recommended for those who are very fond of the style.

Even though it has some problems and limitations, Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is an incredible and well-deserved rescue of one of the rarest farm simulation games. With the essence of the original product fully maintained, it is a game full of nostalgia and that will certainly please veterans of the GameCube and PS2 versions.

We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie makes Switch owners happy again, which, unlike other platforms, was lacking in other titles in the series. Its changes don't alter the practical gameplay precisely because there wasn't any need for it, and the truly new content, even if weak in quantity, compensates for the good level of challenge.

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is a collection of three high-quality dungeon crawler-style RPGs that remain an immersive experience in a hostile and exciting world even years after their original release on DS. However, this is not the highlight of what the franchise has to offer and it is clear that the games had a difficult adaptation to the reality of a single screen.

7.5 / 10.0 - Nocturnal
Jun 14, 2023

It is curious that, in many moments, Nocturnal reminded me of the Prince of Persia franchise. In fact, the game has an essence that is worthy of this historic series, mainly due to its intense sword clashes. However, there is a notable and creative differential, which is the use of fire as a constant element in puzzles, duels and explorations. Despite the title having some problems, such as a poorly present story, performance errors and a short duration, Ardeshir's adventure presents good glimpses on the Switch. With the sword in hand, exploring the Isle of Nahran and scaring away the fog with firepower become extremely fun activities to carry out.

The experience is somewhat cool but it's not a game that will be remembered on the Switch [library]. The recommendation is strictly to Kizuna AI's hardcore fans who can think of the game as a sort of interactive Blu-Ray. In sum, we just hope they add more content (especially free ones) in the future.

8 / 10.0 - Cassette Beasts
Jun 10, 2023

Cassette Beasts, in essence, extends the mechanics of Nintendo's IP and gives the player a wide range of customization combined with the open world concept that many games currently offer. While the audio-visual presentation might not appeal to everyone, this RPG captivates with its well-executed story and diverse elements that evoke nostalgia for the 1980s and 1990s. It's true that the Switch port deserved more polish in technical aspects, but Cassette Beasts doesn't disappoint when expanding on the mechanics introduced by Pokémon. Certainly, the game is a hit for those who like collecting and lots of fun and cute little creatures.

8.5 / 10.0 - Decarnation
Jun 8, 2023

Even if at times it insists on applying gameplay elements that add little to the work as a whole, Decarnation is yet another incredible addition from independent studios that arrives on Switch and deserves to be checked out, as it features impeccable art direction, an equally assertive soundtrack and a deep plot that addresses important themes.

8 / 10.0 - Nightmare Reaper
Jun 8, 2023

Nightmare Reaper is a roguelite boomer shooter that knows how to exploit the advantages of its elements to provide a frantic action experience. The title isn't perfect, especially having problems with its attempt to tell a story that could be better implemented, but it's a game that will easily appeal to fans of shooters.

Pulling no Punches may not be an outstanding title in its genre, and it may not be releasing on Switch at the most relevant moment for the message it wants to share, but that doesn't make it less important to share it. After all, we're a little over a month from the announcement of the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency; that is, we aren't even close to be rid of the consequences of that nightmare, especially those in the long term.

In the midst of an uninteresting relationship system, a confusing plot, characters without depth, poor game optimization and battles without strategy, it is difficult to find positive points in Loop8. Its scenarios are certainly beautiful at times, the female characters also have beautiful models and a cute design, but the lack of optimization, lack of depth and quantity of dialogues and game events, extremely repetitive system, confusing and poorly elaborated plot and combats without emotions certainly doesn't make Loop8 a game I'd recommend to anyone other than those who are hardcore Gunparade March fans. It's really a shame, because I really wanted to like the game and I believe that if it had been better worked on, it would have become a good game.

9 / 10.0 - Fitness Circuit
Jun 5, 2023

Fitness Circuit is a game that accomplishes what it proposes to do extremely well, delivering a good variety of physical exercises in a simple menu accessible to any person. The only caveats are the absence of Portuguese subtitles and the [game's] inability to read the legs' movements.

8 / 10.0 - Jack Jeanne
Jun 1, 2023

"Jack Jeanne brings a simple and relatively cliche story, but it'll definitely please the fans of theatrical productions. Unfortunately, though it tries to reinvent the visual novel genre, the game is way too focused on the simulation and rhythmic elements, leaving the narrative aspect to the sidelines, something that, in my opinion, made the gameplay dull over time. Overall, the newest BROCCOLI port in the west is entertaining and handles the audiovisual presentation well with a remarkable dub and soundtrack and polished art signed by Sui Ishida, but, when weighing the pros and cons, I did not feel I was playing a visual novel.
