Nintendo Blast's Reviews

Aug 12, 2022

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is one of the highlights of the Switch's library of games, which continues to provide us with high-quality RPGs. Without a doubt, this is a milestone in the Xeno series, ending a cycle in Tetsuya Takahashi's career so he can take the next step with Monolith Soft. It is an essential game not only for those who have followed the works so far, but also for those who are interested in knowing what is best in the RPG genre.

9 / 10.0 - Arcade Paradise
Aug 12, 2022

Arcade Paradise is an amazing arcade management simulator that lets you not only manage, but also play a wide range of machines. Despite its somewhat repetitive routine at first, the thrill of building your dream arcade little by little and being able to play it and enjoy it with customers in a nostalgic setting is incredible. This game is a must for lovers of classic arcades and 1990s nostalgia.

8.5 / 10.0 - Live A Live
Aug 6, 2022

Despite an undeniable simplicity and superficiality in plot and level design, Live A Live remains interesting and subversive as a JRPG in a highly accessible, varied, creative and fun way. The remake is consistent with the proposal and greatly improves the experience and the technical part. The game is recommended to any JRPG fan.

7.5 / 10.0 - Frogun
Aug 6, 2022

In its campaign, Frogun offers an experience that will appeal mainly to fans of the longing three-dimensional platformers of the 64-bit era. Although some challenges can be frustrating due to inappropriate gameplay choices, there are still several pleasant points that result in fun and content-packed exploration snippets. With that, the adventure manages to be, at the same time, classic and singular, something that happens due to the presence of our beloved amphibian companion.

Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions is a consistent and well-executed tactics game. Exploring a child's imagination, it shows how even small tasks and fears can be rebuilt by people in their own minds as metaphors and the role fiction can have in expanding our horizons and helping us in the process. Highly recommended for strategy fans and those who love emotional works for kids.

7.5 / 10.0 - Coromon
Aug 2, 2022

Coromon is a special tribute made by Pokémon fans to fans. While the game seeks an identity of its own and improves some aspects of the Nintendo series, such as customization and difficulty options, it also limits itself by bringing together elements of the series that are not necessarily interesting and that could have been reworked or left out. Still, it's a great option to the millions of trainers around the world and certainly one of the most competent "Pokémon-like" so far.

7 / 10.0 - Hazel Sky
Jul 29, 2022

With a very competent level design, Hazel Sky offers a pleasant environment to explore and well-planned puzzles, combined with a well-conducted narrative that will make the player reflect on the game's universe. Despite the lack of punctual polish in mechanics and voice acting, the engaging story, the beautiful settings and the interaction of the characters make this short adventure an interesting experience.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is an excellent example of how to make a competent action platformer gameplay for both newcomers and veterans. Kirin is a fast character and the technical aspects of her moveset allow her to become a machine that obliterates enemies and flies through the stages as long as the player spends some time mastering her abilities. For fans of the genre, it's a must-play, just like the whole Gunvolt franchise.

Long Live the Queen seems to have been made for the Switch. Besides the total support to the console touch screen, the gameplay is perfect for people who are rarely at home. However, a warning: Elodie's adventure is strongly based on trial and error and any attention lapse may result in a game over. If you have the patience to spend hours upon hours thinking about the best skill combos, you'll feel right at home shaping the destiny of Nova's future queen.

The Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is a collection that finally gives the undistinguished anthropomorphic hero's main games the treatment they deserve after so many years in limbo, punctuated only by an obscure remake of Door to Phantomile for the Wii.

Without using a single word in its narrative, Endling - Extinction is Forever is a landmark game that offers one of the most exhilarating experiences available in the Switch library. Even if its gameplay leaves something to be desired in terms of depth and diversity, this survival indie does something much more important with its premises, which is to promote a reflection on the possible extinction of our planet's environment, an agenda that, unfortunately, is often overlooked and forgotten in many social and political debates of this chaotic 21st century.

5.5 / 10.0 - XEL
Jul 19, 2022

At many times, XEL doesn't seem like a title that is really ready, showing flaws that could have been avoided with more careful and optimized development for Switch. That so, I carry the hope that the game will receive updates to improve its performance, as it is a game that definitely deserves a second chance, both for its beautiful presentation and for the attractive gameplay proposals.

7 / 10.0 - Spidersaurs
Jul 18, 2022

Spidersaurs do not reinvent the wheel and do not aim to do so. Like a good B movie, the game builds on everything that has been made in the run and gun genre and seeks to reuse key elements using a very good sense of humor. It's like a more accessible Contra made for the current times, quite pleasant to spend an afternoon.

Much more than a simple expansion, Sunbreak is practically a title apart from Rise. Delivering everything it promised and then some, the expansion perfectly captures the essence that turned the monster-hunting franchise into the worldwide success it is today. While not as colossal as Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, the content present here could easily be worth more than the price of many recent industry releases.

Like its predecessor, Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium perfectly manages to convey the noisy and colorful feeling of going to an old-school arcade, but with infinite chips in your pocket and no smell of cigarettes in the air. The game curation is excellent, with thirty-two well-chosen and varied titles, representing well the main genres that made Capcom a legend in arcades.

7.5 / 10.0 - Cloud Gardens
Jul 11, 2022

With a creative essence, Cloud Gardens carries many feats through the incredible art of gardening in dystopian terrain. While its aesthetic is quite cozy, its farming concepts make for a relaxing and fun puzzle game, presenting a significant extension that can become even greater for those who are interested in the Creative Mode proposals. Thus, there is a detail that cannot be denied: as well as the soils made available in the abandoned structures of its stages, the title is also very fertile in ideas and is full of fruitful qualities.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes manages to transport all the good points of Three Houses to the musou world, especially the setting. Despite having the genre's inconveniences, it breaks with the traditionalism present in the first Fire Emblem Warriors and delivers a competent and satisfying result, maintaining all the tension present in the 16th Fire Emblem and pleasing both those who have never played Three Houses and the fans who they can't let go of it.

8 / 10.0 - Sonic Origins
Jul 4, 2022

Sonic Origins, in the sum of everything, is a very valid collection: all the games received a good treatment as they gained improvements that increase the experience and the extras of the package complement the set. It's not a perfect re-release, given the amount of small details that bother those who are already so used to these classic adventures.

Yurukill: The Calumniation Games is an excellent pick for shoot'em up fans, and even more for succeeding at mixing the genre with others, such as visual novel for the adventure bits and escape-the-room for various puzzles and riddles. Everything fits perfectly with the story and the atmosphere, including the art and soundtrack, which are well made, not to mention the presence of big names of the Japanese dub that enact the eccentric characters. Unfortunately the performance on Switch hinders a lot of the game potential and many issues in the hybrid console port compromise the experience. As such, if possible, the PC or PlayStation versions may be better unless portability is a decisive factor in the choice.

Firegirl: Hack 'n Splash Rescue DX is a simple and enjoyable game, with a beautifully driven sense of progression and exciting action stages. Despite some occasional bugs, it's a good recommendation for those who like platform action games and dynamic roguelites.
