If you can manage not to get too frustrated with the gross bugs, Planet Cube: Edge is a very accurate and satisfying precision platformer. Its eight stages filled with collectibles yield good hours of high-level action, and if that's not enough, completing the campaign unlocks new difficulties.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Smile Alchemist
Mar 17, 2023

The Smile Alchemist is a simple game about the creative process of alchemy as a business enterprise and an optimist young man trying to help people. It's a very pleasant casual experience for lovers of simulators who don't want anything too complicated.

With several points to consider, it's a fact that Digimon World: Next Order is not for everyone. For newcomers who like the first work in the series, this entry should certainly please, as most of the mechanics are more functional and rewarding, especially when it comes to digievolutions. Unfortunately, for those who have already had the opportunity to play Next Order before, there is no real reason to pay such a high price for this new edition, because apart from the Portuguese subtitles, there is no really significant improvement.

Despite not being innovative in gameplay and leaving points to be improved in the HD2D style, as well as having a story that could be more organic and interesting, Octopath Traveler II has a lot of content, generally good protagonists, a beautiful and varied OST and a dynamic, versatile and accessible gameplay , with the care to respond partially or totally to the main criticisms of the first Octopath Traveler. This title is highly recommended for fans of classic style JRPGs from the 16-bit era and those who enjoyed any other Team Asano games.

Pronty's journey parades with great vigor on the Switch, even if eventually some of its gameplay traits diverge from the overall pace of the work. Faced with an intriguing story and a beautiful artistic direction, this metroidvania projects great wonders directly from the bottom of the sea, a place that often populates our imagination with its mysteries, and which now gains a new narrative that is full of charm.

Despite the issues listed, ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni is a title with frantic action moments. The good equipment options and files that give more context to the plot make the exploration of the island feel rewarding. Further, it's an extremely beautiful work with a good soundtrack for both the dramatic and hectic moments. Lastly, the relationship between Kuuta and Kanna is developed through enchanting conversations, making it an emotional thing to witness.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is top-notch survival horror and an easy recommendation of the genre. With a very polished Japanese horror setting and a very thought-provoking plot, the fourth game in the Fatal Frame franchise is an experience that sticks in the head and can even keep anyone who dives deep into the game awake at night.

Record of Agarest War is another example of how a niche genre continues niche. The Switch port is competent and the game has some weak points, but with a weak narrative and way too sluggish combats, this RPG is hard to recommend nowadays. However, for those who want to revive the nostalgic times that won't come back, especially the games industry of the 2000's, Agarest War can be a good distraction to enjoy in homeopathic doses.

Years after its debut on PlayStation Portable, The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure gets a new home as comfortable as its original one. Not even the similarities to the previous title or the inevitable weight of age are enough to weaken a work that was inexplicably limited to Japan longer than it should. Fortunately, this is a victory — now, we wait for the rest of the Trails saga on Switch.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a good example of the series that is worth it for those who like 2D platformers. Although the simple design of the levels makes completing them easy, the game follows the maxim that makes Kirby one of Nintendo's most interesting mainstays: the value here is the fun of the journey and doing everything the game presents, including post-game content, is a great challenge for anyone who is a completionist.

Even without technical advancements in the emulation side, especially with unoptimized rewind tools and English subtitles, Valis: The Fantasm Soldier Collection II still is a great gift from Edia to the fans of this incredible series. I still feel Valis IV should have been included in the first collection and the absence of Mega Drive's version of Valis III bothered me a little but, overall, as a retro games fan, I can say it in no uncertain tone that the nostalgia hits the mark.

6.5 / 10.0 - Redemption Reapers
Mar 4, 2023

Despite having a very simple story with very weak characters and a very limited and repetitive level design, Redemption Reapers is not a complete failure. Its slow, challenging pace uniquely explores the complementarity between your units' strengths and weaknesses, the story has a few high points, and the soundtrack is always good company for your tactical experience. The title is only recommended for tactical RPG fans who want something challenging with a slow pace and don't have better things on their radar.

8.5 / 10.0 - Little Witch Nobeta
Mar 3, 2023

Even with imperfections, Little Witch Nobeta does not lose its characteristic shine; after all, having an entire castle to explore with the powers of a staff that blasts away countless enemies is an incredible feeling to experience. With that, Nobeta's adventure manages to enchant in a majestic way as we follow in the footsteps of a mysterious black cat, heading into the unknown.

5.5 / 10.0 - Remorse: The List
Mar 2, 2023

Remorse: The List has the potential to be a good addition to the Switch horror library, as it delivers a mysterious plot, satisfying puzzles to solve, and free exploration that fits the genre very well. Regrettably, this version does not appear to be complete, preventing me from progressing in the final minutes. Therefore, what remains is to hope that a future update will resolve this issue.

Tales of Symphonia Remastered is a good game that had the misfortune of receiving a bad remastering, or rather “demastering”. Yes, it is possible to complete the title in its entirety on the console, however, it is not the best way to play, especially when there are other official distributions that are more affordable and, even with flaws, with fewer errors than this specific version.

7 / 10.0 - Clive 'N' Wrench
Feb 24, 2023

Its potential flaws could easily compromise the final verdict, but Clive 'N' Wrench won me over thanks to his charisma and robust exploration proposals in spacious worlds, offering a fun action game that revives the golden times of 3D platformers. So, cheers to Clive and Wrench, who form an unusual animal combination to save the day in different windows that take us back in time.

Metroid Prime Remastered is an exemplary return of a great classic from Nintendo's library, nailing the way to revisit it for modern audiences. As a fan of the franchise, I am very happy to see it receive this level of care and attention from its developers. It is now hoped that the same will be done with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GC/Wii) and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii) while the new game is still in production.

Grim Guardians: Demon Purge manages to play with the format of one of the great action platforming classics and show again their mastery of the genre. Though some details such as not having a map during gameplay can make the experience more confusing and tiring than it should have been, this is still easily recommended for those who like the genre.

However Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society manages, in a unique way, to improve all the characteristics Labyrinth of Refrain brought to the dungeon crawler subgenre. Though the story needs more polishment and the constant return to the operation base undermining the experience with the game, RPG fans can't overlook the unique aspects of this most recent NIS title.
