Sorry We're Closed is a pleasant surprise this year, just like TEVI was in the previous one. I was expecting only an unusual visual mix in a horror game but ended up enjoying the drama of the angels in love with demons, trying to get rid of a curse, and comprehend every one's view on "love". Even with some mechanic issues, I ended up satisfied with the experience and I'll be watching closely what à la mode games comes up with in the future.

8.5 / 10.0 - Spirit Mancer
Nov 21, 2024

Spirit Mancer is a title that mixes action, narrative and exploration in a creative way, delivering a fun and captivating experience. It stands out by presenting a vibrant world and charismatic characters along with a gameplay that, despite some limitations, is rich in strategic possibilities. For hack'n slash and coop games fans, it's an adventure worth exploring.

8 / 10.0 - Codex Lost
Nov 20, 2024

Impressive as a solo developer project, Codex Lost is a vast action RPG that stands out for the most intricately interconnected world design I've seen in a soulslike, a beautiful invitation for fans of exploration guided by curiosity and discovery. The artisanal aspect and the lack of polish in some areas may keep part of the public away, but, despite the limitations, genre enthusiasts will be rewarded with a wizardry experience that is worth getting to know.

8 / 10.0 - Tetris Forever
Nov 19, 2024

Tetris Forever lovingly presents some examples of how Tetris has evolved and kept up with the early days of video games without losing relevance, even 40 years later. If you, like me, are a fan of historical records of classic games, make sure you have this collection in your collection.

Clock Tower Rewind is a brilliant example of how to revitalize a classic without losing its soul. It combines the tense atmosphere and intriguing narrative of the original with modern improvements to the gameplay and presentation. The game is both a love letter to fans of the franchise and an accessible entry point for new players who have the patience to adapt to 30-year-old design concepts.

6 / 10.0 - Viscera
Nov 18, 2024

Though [it's] fun at times, Viscera doesn't offer enough content to keep the player engaged for long. The gameplay is honest and functional, but the lack of care in the presentation, and the repetitive concept turns it quickly forgettable amidst the vast list of titles available in the market. In sum, Viscera accomplishes its basic proposal, but doesn't stand out, becoming a passing experience in the vast universe of games around us daily.

Totally Spies! - Cyber Mission manages to deliver a good adaptation of the spies cartoon in its essence, but it errs in not adding at least a small dose of action to the gameplay. Because of that, we have a good mix of stealth and puzzle, but it ends up feeling a little tiresome and dragged out.

7 / 10.0 - Farmagia
Nov 14, 2024

Under more favorable circumstances, Farmagia could have been a great release. Its anime-style proposal is enjoyable, as are the basic mechanics of fighting, farming, and monster customization. It's a shame that its universe isn't well-presented enough, and there's no depth in the combats, farming, or even the production in general. This is a suggestion for fans of the anime style and/or anyone who wants a unique action RPG with good ideas, despite being relatively simple.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is an excellent new way to experience a classic RPG. The new edition brings many elements that make the experience more accessible, but, amidst so many high quality titles of the genre, it's important to keep in mind the basic nature of the journey before diving in. Generally, it's a comfortable trip down a major reference for the genre, and it's specially recommended for those who are already enamored with the classic hero journey [archetype].

LEGO Horizon Adventures is a captivating take on the Horizon universe, bringing the series’ signature adventure and combat to a world built entirely from LEGO bricks. With lighthearted humor and a charming visual approach, the game successfully balances traditional LEGO elements with the unique essence of Horizon. It’s an accessible and fun experience for fans of Aloy’s story and the machine-dominated world, as well as new players, offering a campaign that amplifies the joy of exploring this colorful and creative universe.

Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania is certainly the definitive DLC for this iconic roguelite. Packed with content based on Konami's franchise, the expansion brings a large number of new characters, with many new skills and items. In addition, we have a new stage full of interesting challenges and, above all, incredible surprises. It takes a little dedication to find these treasures — especially for new players —, but it is well worth it.

Irem Collection Volume 2 is interesting for bringing titles that would serve as inspiration for Metal Slug and that are excellent jewels by themselves, all of them with great emulation. It's a shame that the production context isn't presented to the player, leaving the curious ones to their devices in searching for info on the internet.

When the Light Dies knows how to combine survival, strategy and a pinch of mystery in a very immersive environment. The need to gather limited resources and constant threat of supernatural creatures keeps the player in constant tension. The concept of balancing the search for light, the combat against enemies and the sanity management offers a challenging and rewarding experience, especially for fans of roguelites.

5 / 10.0 - Blazing Strike
Nov 8, 2024

Blazing Strike's intentions were great but various execution issues, along with the meager options and lack of any elements that could give it more replay value, make the title unappealing amidst others that offer much more at a lower cost. If it at least improved the combat and had a trophy system that made the player explore its visually varied cast, it would be a big step to accompany the artistic style that right now is the only highlight.

After some lacking titles, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 finally managed to return the FPS franchise to the place it deserves. The campaign is great, serving as a compelling adventure and a good introduction; the multiplayer brings varied and fun challenges; and Zombie Mode is immersive and filled with secrets. Overall, a great title, whether you're a fan or someone who hoped for a release with worth like the best ones in the series.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is the perfect introduction to those who wish to adventure through the unique world of Japanese drums. With a robust music selection in the base game that already means a lot of fun — and can be expanded —, the game has a ton of content to unlock. Easy to learn and accessible, it's ideal to play casually and de-stress or to liven up a party with many beats.

In the end, I believe that indeed the game is a great option for the strategy genre, especially thanks to its charisma and originality; besides that, it has a potential for expansions and, especially, updates that will turn it more balanced and varied.

Nukearts can still improve on some areas for their next works but the simplicity we find in Hidden Cats in Spooky Town is efficient and does the trick. For those who like to search for hidden objects, it will be some comfortable, relaxing fun that's enjoyable to complete.

7.5 / 10.0 - Micro Mages
Nov 4, 2024

Developing a work from intentional, inherent limitations is a beautiful creative experiment, especially when the result is as efficient and fun as Micro Mages. The 2D platform's simplicity can be too simplified for people wishing for something more elaborate, but the agility, retro challenge and four-player fun can be enough to attract people who like what they see.

7.5 / 10.0 - Karate Survivor
Nov 4, 2024

Karate Survivor is a refreshing addition to the growing survival genre, bringing nostalgic elements and unique mechanics that create a unique and fun experience. The setting inspired by fighting movies from the 80s and 90s, combined with strategic and challenging gameplay, gives the game a special charm. The game stands out for its own characteristics, managing to capture the essence of survival roguelites without losing its identity. Despite some points that may not be generally pleasing, it is a sure choice for those looking for action and nostalgia in a well-executed package.
