A love letter to console RPGs that left a mark on the life of many players in the past, Chained Echoes succeeds in delivering an adventure worthy of the titles it pays homage to, and it can already be considered a modern classic. The charismatic characters, excellent soundtrack and enticing plot from the very start will definitely please fans of the genre looking for something new that smartly reminds them of the past. Thus, for all intents and purposes, do not let yourself be deceived: though it may seem small, this is one of the big titles of 2022.

Lil Gator Game is a serene, no-compromise adventure that turns youthful playtime into a great journey. It's engaging to explore an island full of activities: climbing, swimming, gliding and other actions allow us to go almost anywhere. Other than that, it's hard not to be captivated by the concept of playing a pretend game filled with amusing dialogue. In the end, Lil Gator Game is a great pastime, you just have to be willing to let your inner child take over.

Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef runs away from all the heavily crafted narrative of the franchise to deliver simpler, more sincere and objective fun. The commands can be a little out of the ordinary, but this is a good title to enjoy with friends.

A medieval shoot 'em up, something unusual, but which Cassiodora delivers with competence and a lot of creativity. Merits also the simple gameplay, well-planned multiplayer and skill implementation.

Two Point Campus: Space Academy is an expansion that matches what was proposed in the base game. The space theme fits very well into the game, mainly because it maintains the visual quality, the creativity of the courses and keeps the management challenge well balanced even with the different spaces for building and expanding your university. However, it's possible that the content isn't impactful enough to appeal to the more casual Two Point Campus players. The base game already has a sufficient amount of content to satisfy the less demanding and the DLC, despite the quality, does not present itself as a relevant element to justify its purchase.

Wavetale has the adequate duration for what it is: a fluid and agile adventure with an involved story and unexpectedly elaborate for the time it has. The combat fulfills a purely marginal purpose and the technical limitations do not follow the fluidity pattern, but are harmless enough to be highlighted in the context of a game of outstanding humanity and beauty.

Melatonin turns the world of dreams into an immersive experience. The mechanics mix puzzle and rhythm in good audiovisual challenges with simple commands, but complex sequences of notes and unusual situations make the stages very interesting. The difficulty is moderate, however there are options to increase or decrease it. The setting captivates with a dreamlike universe drawn by hand with different shades of pink. The stages are very creative and surreal, surprisingly exploring different aspirations of the human mind. A lo-fi soundtrack complements the imaginative atmosphere, although some compositions are a little off. In the end, Melatonin is a worthwhile brief tour of the subconscious.

Unfortunately, RWBY: Arrowfell is yet another example of a licensed game of questionable quality. The game is relatively short, not challenging, and has nothing to really keep the player interested.

The Rumble Fish 2 is a very worthwhile experience, both for the rarity of the title itself and for the legacy it carries and its easy-to-understand mechanics. However, those who are used to more current and complex titles may not be very excited about it.

There's no denying that Samurai Maiden manages to deliver on its flagship role: an accessible hack and slash featuring beautiful anime-style schoolgirls, ninjas, and samurai. In fact, it even goes further, bringing some good qualities to players in general, such as challenging fights and interesting content. Unfortunately, a half-assed technical production and lack of focus on important elements leave the recommendation limited only to ardent fans of what it really has to offer.

With a little more care, Soccer Story could fight among the big teams and stand out among the other games; however, it is just a supporting player among the rest.

By investing in both interpersonal relationships and the complexity of its elements, Old World and its expansion Heroes of the Aegean impress. Even the confusing interface by modern standards of the genre and the low amount of initial leaders are not enough to prevent a recommendation.

Kukoos: Lost Pets is a mixed experience. It's a pleasant, fun and dynamic game when its imprecise movement and bugs aren't annoying [the players]. Nothing makes it unplayable but the occurrences hinder the enjoyment of what the game has to offer and may demand patience. It's a shame because Petit Fabrik's title is a well-made game that doesn't reinvent the formula but justifies its existence as a 3D platformer that can be enjoyed alone or with others, especially children.

Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered is a good edition of a game that until today is unique for its genre. One would expect no less from SaGa and the eccentricities of Akitoshi Kawazu. Although it's a title whose complexity and difficulty can be uncomfortable for many players, it's a worthwhile experience for anyone who likes RPGs and wants to explore its possibilities in video games in more depth.

Togges surprised me by bringing a whole new way of approaching an old genre, without sticking to nostalgia emulation. The novelty is allied to the wide design of levels, the exploration full of secrets to discover and the charisma of the package as a whole. I still intend to complete this inventive and fun 3D “stackformer” that has become one of my favorites.

Swordship is an adrenaline-pumping, creative arcade experience. Using a defenseless ship to evade obstacles and pilfer containers is exhilarating, mainly because of the sheer amount of dangers — inducing enemies to attack each other is quite rewarding. The difficulty is intense and it's very easy to crash, but the fun side is precisely being able to survive in the midst of chaos. The constant introduction of content and challenges forces the player to constantly review their strategies. However, in the long term, it is clear that the variety is not the best. Even so, to get the best scores, you need to experiment a lot and master the systems. Other than that, the setting stands out with colorful visuals and stylish scenes. In the end, Swordship stands out with its unique dodge 'em up concept and its neat execution, being recommended for anyone looking for something different and frantic.

In the end, Evil West is one of the examples that reinforce the most important aspect of a videogame: the fun of playing. In this case, fighting against supernatural monsters in a beautiful and challenging western setting. Of course, a more developed story that fit well with the combats would have been great, as well as having more variety to the missions. Even so, this is a a release full of action and big qualities for fans of the genre.

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers had a good idea, that's for sure. Modestly, it could even have been a "law-side GTA" or just another crazy simulator with a cop but the amount of issues turns it into something totally forgettable and not worth even meme status.

Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten is a good RPG and Utawarerumono fans should enjoy its narrative a lot. However, there's a feeling that this work should have been better planned and various small fixes would help give it an extra push towards its potential. Even though it may not be worthy of being sung about in legends, it's a solid experience worth playing.

NEO: The World Ends with You is an excellent example of an action RPG that manages to evolve the gameplay concepts of its predecessor with a chaotic combat system focused on multiple simultaneous inputs. Although it only has a very basic system of graphic settings, the game is strongly recommended for any fan of the genre.
