Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a fantastic expansion to the original game, adding a gripping espionage storyline. Along with Phantom Liberty, the game introduces many new features that should have been there long ago, such as action-packed car chases where you can shoot from the driver’s seat or from weapons mounted directly on the vehicles. However, it’s clear that this is an expansion of the original game, so you should expect the occasional bug. It’s definitely a great invitation to return to Night City and finally enjoy what was promised years ago.

Tiny Thor is the best platformer I’ve played in a long time. A beautiful story, great boss fights, nice graphics, fantastic music, and that HAMMER! With its style, the game fits right in with the platformers of the 1990s and proudly flies its own flag with that logo. The only thing I have to criticize about the game is that it’s unplayable on a keyboard, but even this problem can be solved with a controller. I recommend Tiny Thor to all passionate fans of these games, and if you’ve been hesitating about this title so far, you definitely won’t make a mistake by buying it.

Mortal Kombat 1 features classic characters and retains the brutal gameplay that fans have come to love. The visuals are captivating and highly polished. While the limited customization options and the decision to reboot the series may disappoint some players, overall it remains a solid addition to the Mortal Kombat franchise.

Starship Troopers: Extermination is a well-crafted PVE cooperative FPS that elegantly combines shooter elements with tower defense mechanics. Building a base and defending specific objectives adds a certain thrill to the game, even though the concept is still quite repetitive and somewhat lacking at this early access stage. The game definitely has great potential to captivate players and will surely delight fans of this universe, despite certain imperfections.

In this adventure game, players can experience the story of two friends and their newfound puppy in an interactive format. The beautifully rendered environment, which blends the colors of trees and apartment buildings, is very easy to play and is suitable for both complete beginners and fans of small indie games—games that, rather than being a source of stress, serve as a place to unwind.

Isonzo is an atmospheric FPS set during World War I. The game strives to be as authentic as possible and to depict the Italian front in its near-real form. Historical locations, weapons, and skins, combined with the right sound design, will quickly draw you into the grim world of war. The game mechanics and physics work flawlessly. A major downside is the poorly designed onboarding for newcomers, who are greeted with a lousy tutorial and a lot of deaths, forcing them to struggle for a long time and learn from their own mistakes before they can make progress and understand how the game works. In single-player, the AI spoils the experience. Isonzo is, in any case, a great shooter that I recommend to all fans of historical games.

Gord could have been better than Frostpunk, but right now it’s barely even “punk.” It’s a base-building survival strategy game with enormous potential, featuring an amazing story, easy controls, and a great soundtrack. But then it gets mixed up with clunky AI, terrible management, a weird ending, and a ton of weird “Gord-ing” (constantly building new forts), and the result is a mishmash I just can’t appreciate. The game is just a little bit short of being amazing, but that little bit went somewhere completely different than it should have, and that’s what I regret about Gord.

If you could only play one modern shoot 'em up, I would recommend Drainus. It’s accessible to all types of gamers, plays great, looks stunning, and features a combination of elements that were beloved in older shooters. It also blends Japanese and Western approaches to the genre. And despite all that, it never loses its originality.

On closer inspection, Starfield is a solid RPG that, following in the footsteps of other Bethesda games, offers a vast open world with plenty of activities and exploration, giving players nearly unlimited freedom in their decisions. If you like the Fallout series and have been missing a game of this style on the market for a long time, you’ll enjoy Starfield despite its obvious shortcomings—and even more so if you love sci-fi and enjoy space settings, just like me. However, if you were expecting Starfield to be a revolutionary game packed with innovations, you’ll be disappointed with Bethesda’s work—at least for now. Starfield isn’t bad, but a large number of elements in the game feel unfinished, and it’s clear that Bethesda could have easily taken another year to polish many of them to a successful conclusion. On behalf of us at Gaming Professors, I give the game seven and a half out of ten.

Overall, Harmony: The Fall of Reverie offers an intriguing futuristic premise combined with a focus on an emotional narrative. This visual novel from Don't Nod captivates players with its contrast between reality and a dreamlike world that embodies various human traits and emotions. The game focuses on diverse choices and consequences that influence the characters’ fates, bringing dynamism to the decision-making process. Although some game mechanics may seem complicated and confusing, the challenge of uncovering the secrets of the Aspirations and deciding the fate of both Polly and humanity is imaginative. Even though occasional shortcomings detract from the overall experience, Harmony: The Fall of Reverie deserves the attention of players who enjoy making important decisions and are open to an unconventional experience with a fresh take on classic game genres.

Blasphemous 2 is the best 2D game I’ve ever played. It may seem a bit clunky, but that’s exactly what I’d expect from a Souls-like game. Great optimization, smooth gameplay, stunning design, and excellent music are the game’s standout strengths. Unfortunately, those microseconds sometimes really do make a huge difference, the story takes a back seat, and in the end, Blasphemous 2 isn’t really revolutionary in any way. You’ll just be racking your brain and fraying your nerves trying to finally reach enlightenment, and I can say that I experienced it during the end credits.

Iris and the Giant is a beautiful, charming, and melancholic game that combines RPG and card strategy elements in a magical setting. It takes players into the mind of a young girl suffering from depression, where every gambler faces a variety of battles against inner demons and a host of cleverly interwoven game mechanics.

Under the Waves is a visually stunning game with a powerful, emotional story and excellent music. Although it has some shortcomings, such as an inverted control scheme, minimal activities, and limited survival elements, it still offers an engaging experience, especially for those who appreciate a deeper approach to the plot and atmospheric elements. On top of that, the game features a complete Czech localization.

WW2 Rebuilder surprised me. It’s a laid-back reconstruction simulator where you rebuild devastated countries. The beautiful design combined with simple controls set the bar really high—perhaps too high. The game was unnecessarily let down by a slightly imperfect sandbox version of Poland and music that was a bit too subdued, along with occasional technical issues. Nevertheless, that doesn’t detract from the fact that, in the end, it’s a more than successful game.

En Garde! is a highly engaging and fresh action game, defined by its well-executed combat system and its ability to capture the charm of adventurous sword-fighting tales—a genre from which video games have, surprisingly, drawn inspiration all too rarely. It is, however, still a small indie title, which comes with certain limitations, including a very short playtime. But if a game’s biggest weakness is that it ends too soon, that’s actually a great testament to its quality.

All in all, Elden Ring is an intriguing (semi-)revolution in the Souls series that, thanks primarily to its massive open world, can truly captivate anyone—literally. However, its perfection is undermined by the same old bugs that the developers haven’t quite managed to iron out over the years, at least as far as the PC version is concerned. If you’re playing Elden Ring on consoles, where optimization is slightly better, feel free to add that extra point to your rating. I’m giving the game nine out of ten.

Gunsmith Simulator is a very enjoyable simulator that takes you into the world of firearms. The weapon designs, their implementation, and the graphics are truly impressive. Thanks to this game, many players get the chance to look inside their favorite gaming companions. The ability to test weapons at various types of shooting ranges greatly refreshes the gameplay, despite a few minor flaws.

Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara draws its charm from its charming, almost minimalist graphics, and it further endears itself by popularizing a genre that has, unfortunately, been overlooked in recent years. However, in terms of level design, controls, and movement options, it is much closer to the average than the games that served as its inspiration.

Red Line by Rolling Cat Studio definitely offers a unique blend of horror, puzzle-solving, and storytelling. If you prefer atmospheric experiences and story-driven gameplay, this game is perfect for you, so don’t hesitate to give it a try. Personally, I was really drawn to this psychological horror game with its immersive narrative and beautiful pixel art, which is why I’m more than happy to recommend it to others.

Food Truck Simulator stands or falls—in this case, falls—on its overall unpolished gameplay, which unfortunately contains major flaws and unfinished elements. These make the game nothing more than an average title that probably won’t appeal to many people. We certainly don’t expect it to be as successful as DRAGO Entertainment’s Gas Station Simulator was. If you’re looking for a better cooking simulator, check out Chef Life: A Restaurant Simulator, which is ten euros more expensive but, in many ways, much higher quality. As for us at Gaming Professors, Food Truck Simulator gets five out of ten points.
