Wildermyth is a very charming turn-based RPG with a rich story. What kind of story? The game’s uniqueness lies in the fact that it doesn’t tell just a single story, but weaves together the random adventures of random characters like pieces of a mosaic. Thanks to the characters’ diverse traits, their random generation, and their interactions with one another, you’ll find yourself in funny, suspenseful, romantic, and even sad situations and interpersonal relationships that sometimes feel all too much like real life. All of this is spiced up by an exciting combat system.

Kenshi is a very good sandbox game, but it’s not for everyone. The game is truly challenging, and it will take you dozens of hours to grasp even the basic mechanics. The game’s visuals aren’t particularly impressive, but they aren’t bad either—after all, that’s not what the game is built on. Kenshi offers a wealth of possibilities, and thanks to mods, you can expand its content even further.

Foundation is an absolute gem of a game. As long as you’re not expecting a strategy game like Age of Empires, you won’t be disappointed. Building, gathering, organizing—the game has all of this down to the finest detail, and it’s all accompanied by one of the most magnificent soundtracks. Unfortunately, it still has a few rough edges that, while minor in some places, ultimately become a downside given the game’s scope and possibilities.

Although Ravenous Devils doesn’t offer much, it’s a pretty good little game. The chemistry between the two characters works well, and you could almost envy the strength of their bond. The graphics aren’t anything to write home about, and the gallons of blood in an already gloomy setting are just the icing on the cake. The biggest problem is the lack of variety. In a relatively short time, you’ve really exhausted all possible customization options, not to mention the repetitiveness.

Kao the Kangaroo is a fun game that revives an old title about a kangaroo who loves to box and collect gold coins. While the story isn’t anything new, the simple mechanics help keep the game engaging and fun to play. It’s clear that the game has no deeper ambitions; rather, it aims to entertain a wide range of players while evoking a sense of nostalgia for older gamers. It certainly succeeds in doing so, because the gameplay is what really draws you in.

When it comes to well-designed gameplay mechanics and attention to detail, Rain World far surpasses many other games in the genre. However, if its (well-hidden) story, overall stylization, and brutal difficulty don’t strike a chord with you, even its otherwise high-quality production won’t save it. On the other hand, a sufficiently stubborn, masochistic, or Zen-minded player may find a hidden gem in this game.

Tails of Iron is sort of the third Witcher in the realm of indie titles. Not because Doug Cockle voices the narrator, but because it strives for maximum precision in every aspect. The visuals are absolutely immersive, the combat system—though it doesn’t bring anything new to the genre—is fun, and the music hasn’t been overlooked either. And by that I mean it’s also very well done and atmospheric. The story won’t blow you away, and a certain repetitiveness in the game is tiring, but it’s still a great game.

Sifu is an absolute blast. What started as an unassuming project has turned out to be one of the best beat 'em ups I've played in a while. It has an interesting story, a high-quality combat system, and a perfectly executed character progression system. Unfortunately, not everything is polished yet, which drags the game down a bit—including the music, which tends to fade completely from the player's awareness.

Evil Dead: The Game doesn’t offer anything new that we haven’t already seen in other games. Still, it’s a lot of fun and will keep you glued to your seat for hours on end. If you’re a fan of the series, it’s practically a must-have. If you’re looking for pure brutality, Evil Dead: The Game will deliver. Currently, there are two maps and ten playable characters for players, along with three different types of enemies. What more can we say? Start up your chainsaw and enjoy the brutal ride.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is an excellent and worthy sequel to the game released two years ago, in which the developers at City Interactive took the tried-and-true mechanics and gave them a fresh new look. The biggest draw of the second installment is undoubtedly long-range shooting, which offers a new challenge—especially for die-hard fans of the series—and many players are sure to love this feature. We must also praise the realistic weapon behavior, the pleasant design of the locations, and the semi-open world, which offers players countless additional possibilities and tasks that can significantly extend playtime. Unfortunately, along with its well-functioning mechanics, the sequel has also inherited the bad aspects, so we still encounter occasional bugs or tragically behaving enemy AI. Ultimately, however, this is a great title that should definitely not be missing from your collection of action games, and if you’re a fan of stealth and sniping, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a must-have for you.

Tunche is a high-quality casual game that you can enjoy both solo and with friends, and the co-op mode definitely outshines the single-player experience. The enemies look cute, just like the main characters, the experience-gaining system is simple, and the rogue-like elements only enhance the game. Unfortunately, the repetitiveness really drags the game down, and I can imagine that many players will get fed up with it.

Marfusha is a completely simple and fun shooter that’s perfect for filling a spare hour on a free evening or afternoon. Its simplicity is its greatest strength. Unfortunately, it’s really quite short—even with the challenge mode, it takes less than an hour to unlock most of the achievements.

Winter Ember is a dark isometric stealth game inspired by the Thief series. You can roam a gloomy Victorian city, occasionally break into a house, kill enemies, or trade on the black market while searching for secret paths and hidden corners. Unfortunately, the game also has quite a few shortcomings. Setting aside technical bugs, the main issue is the complete lack of any deeper purpose for civilian NPCs. The stealth mechanics—the core of the game—are designed quite well, and the overall gameplay is solid. The upside is that the developers have faced the heavy criticism head-on and have already confirmed changes and fixes. As it stands, the game is truly on a fine line between being recommended and not—at its core, it’s not a bad game, but it still has many shortcomings.

The Forgotten City is a fantastic single-player narrative game that transports you, a modern-day person, to an ancient city presented in a stunning visual style and featuring a perfect gaming atmosphere. The game is reasonably priced, but knowledge of a foreign language is essential—as is the "Fatal Error" icon, which appeared all too frequently.

The Gunk is an enjoyable adventure game that draws players in with its strong emphasis on exploration and its beautiful setting. The story of the two main characters on the brink of bankruptcy builds gradually; while it has a few lackluster moments, it ultimately focuses on moral values. For an indie title, it’s a very well-made game, though it isn’t without its flaws. However, these aren’t so significant that they would outright spoil the entire experience for you.

Trash Sailors is loved by some and hated by others. This cooperative game offers an interesting concept with many colorful mechanics set against a stunning visual backdrop. Scavenging for trash as a source of resources necessary for survival has truly never been this much fun. However, the game suffers from clunky controls, an almost excessive effort to present players with a difficult challenge, and repetitiveness. Form your own opinion of Trash Sailors, because in this case, it’s an extremely subjective view.

Despite some initial confusion, The Serpent Rogue is a highly creative, dark-themed adventure for any intrepid explorer. The game offers a wide range of learning and crafting options in keeping with the main character’s role as an alchemist. While this visually appealing fantasy adventure may not appeal to survival game enthusiasts per se, it is above all a demanding title full of challenges. If you persevere and don’t give up after a few initial setbacks, you certainly won’t regret the time you’ve spent on the game. On the other hand, there are a few issues that still need to be worked on, so you might want to wait for the first patch.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth creates an intriguing atmosphere, and despite its cartoonish art style, the environment draws you into its world. The combination of various items and enemies will keep you playing this entertaining game for hours on end, and the desire to improve will keep you coming back for more. We realize this style of gameplay won’t be for everyone, but if the game has piqued your interest even a little, we recommend giving it a try.

Blade Assault is one of many pixel art roguelike games. It strives to be innovative, and in a sense, it succeeds. I enjoyed how the gameplay was enhanced by the elements, the chain of merchants was intriguing, and the wider selection of characters was a welcome addition. The biggest drawback, in my view, is the visual style, which, while nicely retro, feels too monotonous in the developers’ execution. This naturally has an impact on the overall gameplay as well. Blade Assault will certainly find its fan base, but it will likely be a niche one.

Trek to Yomi is a solid samurai-themed game, delivered in just the right doses. After a few hours of play, it offers a fairly satisfying story, complemented by a highly effective environment and design, along with a combat system that works well—provided you play it safe. It’s not a platformer version of Ghost of Tsushima, but rather a game with a surprising atmosphere and a loving nod to samurai films.
