7.5 / 10.0 - Ancestors Legacy
Oct 5, 2022

Ancestors Legacy is an enjoyable game set during the Golden Age of the Vikings. It’s an RTS that borrows mechanics from Company of Heroes and tries to use them to its advantage, which it manages to do quite well. However, aside from certain elements and the game’s setting, it lacks true originality, and in some respects, you’ll feel like something is missing. This is especially true since, in some sections, you’re playing more of a story-driven stealth strategy game and are largely limited by assigned units for most of the time. It’s definitely not a game that isn’t worth trying, though, and fans of this genre will surely enjoy it.

The Walking Dead: Season 2 is an enjoyable game that perfectly complements the first season and expands on the story of young Clementine as she struggles to survive in a world filled with all kinds of monsters, from zombies to humans. While it doesn’t quite match the quality of the first installment, it’s still a very above-average game—even if you don’t get to play much and instead spend most of your time immersing yourself in the story.

8.5 / 10.0 - Judgment
Oct 4, 2022

Judgment is a very well-done port that didn’t disappoint and is truly impressive. While playing, I didn’t encounter any optimization issues, crashes, or anything like that. Visually, the game is truly appealing and full of detail. The only thing I could criticize regarding the port and controls is an occasional issue with the controls when playing with a keyboard and mouse. However, this doesn’t happen frequently—only in certain situations—and all you need to do is move slightly to realign the camera and character as needed. Yagami’s story, the game’s execution, pacing, and concept are definitely worth overlooking this minor flaw. In return, you’ll get fantastic entertainment from the world of Yakuza, which will pull you into its clutches and won’t let go.

DioField Chronicle is quite difficult to evaluate, because the game really isn’t worth the price the developers are asking for it. The graphics aren’t impressive, the characters are completely emotionless, and there’s really no strategy involved, since you’re constantly forced to make direct attacks. You have virtually no interaction with your companions, and the story is unengaging because you have no motivation.

7.5 / 10.0 - F1 Manager 2022
Oct 2, 2022

F1 Manager 2022 is a very successful debut from Frontier Developments, and if the studio plans to further develop this series in the future, it could become an unrivaled management game—perhaps even the best I’ve ever seen. Of course, it also depends on whether the Formula 1 championship appeals to you. F1 Manager 2022 can appeal to both types of players—F1 fanatics as well as absolute newcomers. However, the overall experience is marred by subpar visuals and occasional technical glitches. From us at Gaming Professors, F1 Manager 2022 earns a solid 7.5 out of 10.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a fun beat 'em up that’s perfect for whiling away a few afternoons and enjoying some chill time with your friends. While the keyboard controls are absolutely hellish and the difficulty spikes can be a bit baffling at times, the voice acting, music, and animations really elevate the game, and all in all, it’s a pretty solid title.

Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit certainly boasts good reviews not only from critics but also from players themselves; personally, however, I just couldn’t quite get the hang of it. Of course, I agree that it’s not exactly a bad game—its historical elements are very well integrated—and I truly appreciate the developers’ effort to teach players something new in an entertaining way. But who knows, maybe I’m one of the hundred people this game didn’t really appeal to. A hundred people, a hundred tastes.

Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo is a good film that draws you into the story. However, there are flaws that can spoil the experience. The terrible dubbing, animation, and odd sound design are simply things that are hard to ignore, and they detract from the film’s overall quality.

9.5 / 10.0 - Inscryption
Sep 23, 2022

Inscryption is a mysterious card game that surprises you in every possible way. Its dark story transforms the game several times as the player tries to unravel the mysteries surrounding it. While the gameplay isn’t exactly groundbreaking, it never gets boring for a single moment. The entertaining gameplay, original story, and setting, combined with a dense atmosphere, create an experience that stands out from the vast majority of games on the market.

5.5 / 10.0 - Pupperazzi
Sep 22, 2022

Pupperazzi is aimed at a specific audience of gamers, but unfortunately, I don’t fall into that group. That said, I have to admit that the game exceeded my expectations. After all, it’s a truly simple yet cute and relaxing game. So if you’re having a bad day, this dog-filled game is just the thing to calm your mind.

Insurgency: Sandstorm is a well-crafted PvP tactical shooter that holds its own against the big titles in the genre. Unlike them, however, it places a strong emphasis on atmosphere and tactical thinking. It’s more of a hardcore multiplayer shooter built on clearly defined gameplay principles, mechanics, modes, and maps. However, this isn’t a game for everyone—if you’re looking for an arena shooter with nonstop shooting, running, and jumping, you won’t find it here. On the contrary, it’s important to think through every move you make, and it’s also wise to carefully plan your gear and the strategy you’ll use to take down your opponents.

8.5 / 10.0 - Lost in Play
Sep 18, 2022

Lost in Play certainly deserves the attention of all fans of the puzzle-adventure genre, as it’s well worth your time. Thanks to its captivating story, which explores the innocent imagination of a child, you’ll experience a truly unconventional adventure featuring playful characters, stunning locations, unique puzzles, and fantastic music that you won’t soon forget. The game doesn’t suffer from any major glitches that would leave you lost; on the contrary, it ensures that your roughly five-hour journey is well worth it, without any significant hiccups.

8 / 10.0 - River City Girls
Sep 17, 2022

River City Girls is an absolutely fantastic beat 'em up with a simple, funny plot, great dialogue, awesome music, solid production values, and a mystery box-style shopping system. Unfortunately, the controls are so incredibly clunky that they knock the game down a whole notch in my rating—at least when playing on a keyboard. Plus, for a price of just under thirty euros, a three-hour playtime is really not enough. In co-op, however, it’s a fun beat ’em up—as long as you’re not crammed next to each other and fighting over the right buttons.

Considering how awesome this game is, it doesn’t get talked about much, which I think is a shame. I had an incredible time playing F.I.S.T. Forged in Shadow Torch, and I hope this isn’t the end of it, given how it wrapped up. At times you get to enjoy the game’s beautiful graphics, and at other times I thought I was going to smash something when I had to defeat a boss on my thirtieth try. The story was so comprehensive that not a single detail was left unexplained, and so well-crafted that it could make for a great movie. I was even surprised that an average computer could handle this game without a single issue. The game is exciting; brutal combat, exploring locations, and plenty of other features set it apart from titles in the same genre. It’s definitely worth playing.

SD Gundam Battle Alliance is the kind of game I’d recommend to fans of the series, as they’ll likely enjoy it. The robot battles are pretty fun, but the grind required to level up quickly ruins the gaming experience. The virtually empty world with no side activities doesn’t help matters either. In this case, I found the game’s price tag to be somewhat unreasonable.

At its core, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC is still the same fantastic game it was in its original 1999 release, enhanced with more modern and polished visuals that also take full advantage of next-gen consoles and PCs. So whether you’re a fan of the original game looking to revisit PAC-MAN World or a complete newcomer, we can recommend this title without reservation. Plus, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC is designed with younger players in mind, so if you’re a parent looking for a non-violent game for your child that also helps them practice their reflexes, this title might be the best choice right now. On behalf of us at Gaming Professors, I’m giving the game eight and a half out of ten points.

Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 is a highly polished action RPG with roguelike elements. As a sequel to the first game, it does an excellent job of incorporating Lovecraft’s legacy and the Cthulhu Mythos. The game features six playable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as special abilities, unique gear, weapons, and items. You can change the characters’ gear, which immediately affects their visual style and stats. The game features procedurally generated locations, making every playthrough unique, including enemy placement. This aspect adds to the game’s replayability, thanks in part to the excellent graphics, which combine a hand-drawn and comic book style. Taking down a diverse horde of enemies happens at a brisk pace and will definitely entertain both fans of isometric action shooters and lovers of Lovecraft and a good story.

9 / 10.0 - Rollerdrome
Sep 13, 2022

Rollerdrome offers a completely unique and one-of-a-kind gaming experience that combines rollerblading and tricks with action-packed arena battles. The dynamic yet intuitive gameplay, spiced up with various types of enemies and arenas, along with a fantastic synthwave-style soundtrack, is simply captivating and entertaining. The graphics, set in a futuristic retro 80s world with an animated style, make the game even more original and appealing. The game also presents a certain challenge, as the AI and overall game mechanics definitely won’t give you anything for free, but it’s truly worth it. If I had to name my top 5 games of the year right now, Rollerdrome would definitely be among them.

9 / 10.0 - Cult of the Lamb
Sep 12, 2022

Cult of the Lamb definitely deserves a place among roguelike giants like Hades and The Binding of Isaac, and while it doesn’t quite match their quality, it can hold its own as a close contender. The combination of fast-paced combat and managing your own cult works incredibly well, and the entertaining gameplay will keep you hooked. After all, who wouldn’t want to sacrifice their greatest enemy on the altar, feed them food made from questionable ingredients, or lock them up in prison as a preventive measure to the mockery of everyone else?
