8 / 10.0 - Golden Light
Oct 3, 2021

Golden Light is a very specific and very surreal thing. The combination of rogue-lite gameplay with pixelated graphics, deliberately obscure instructions and peculiar game mechanics feels random at first, but is surprisingly well thought out. Along with this, you get a strange, very twisted story and a crazy game world. The game gradually turns out to be an experience that feels like it jumped out of the pages of a properly postmodern novel. For this reason, even the numerical rating is really only indicative and it's better to go by the overall mood, which I've tried to reproduce here at least a little. So if you found the review unnecessarily opaque and rambling and don't want to keep the wiki open all the time while playing, you'd better not get into this game. It doesn't get any better in terms of clarity.

8.5 / 10.0 - Lake
Oct 3, 2021

Lake is an incredibly soothing play with well-written characters, dialogue, and even better dubbing. The characters do occasionally open their mouths and miss the dub, but along with the not-so-widespread repertoire of local radio, this can be considered a minor detail that doesn't explicitly interfere with the experience of the play. The small town of Providence Oaks is just the perfect setting for an interesting story with three endings. The job of a postman suddenly seems like a dream job, though then again not for everyone.

Oct 3, 2021

In my opinion, this game is not for weak characters, people suffering from some kind of phobia and, as you will be warned before playing, people suffering from psychological or mental problems. The game has a strong story, a creepy atmosphere and will definitely not make you feel completely comfortable. As well as that, you'll be treated to perfect sound and realistic visuals. The Suicide of Rachel Foster is a fascinating, moving and mature tale of love and death.

8 / 10.0 - Mundaun
Oct 1, 2021

Mundaun is definitely an achievement for Michel Ziegler, but the interesting story, fantastic presentation and the combination of many genres with different difficulty levels make Mundaun an essential game for fans of psychological and horror adventures. You'll feel a certain uneasiness the whole time and have a good time at the same time.

ArtFormer: Ancient Stories offers a unique look at four historical periods of our history, provided by four unique chapters. The graphics based on real history is probably the biggest plus, add to which the different stories and varied game mechanics including logic puzzles. What still needs a lot of work is the technical state of the game, as its otherwise smooth progress is disrupted by several bugs and especially by the strange, almost skeletal controls that will cause you to lose a few nerves. In around five hours you'll get a refresher on art history and maybe learn something new.

8 / 10.0 - Crown Trick
Sep 29, 2021

Crown Trick is, in a nutshell, a great roguelike title that won't bore you. Whether it's the visual identity, the amount of content, the variety of enemies and environments, or the turn-based combat system that will take some getting used to, this game is definitely a hit for anyone who isn't afraid of a challenge and is looking for exactly the thrill of exploring the unknown.

Hot Wheels Unleashed™ is so much more than what I expected from this racing game. Great gameplay, variety of environments, lots of track variations, and a large collection of cars that I want to have all of. The ability to play around in the editor to create your own track and build the track of your dreams. Nice graphics and great optimization. This is all just like a childhood dream come true and I can't wait for the upcoming new expansions to the game. I recommend the game to everyone who enjoys arcade racing in particular and collected or still collects Hot Wheels cars when they were younger.

7.5 / 10.0 - Song of Iron
Sep 27, 2021

Song of Iron is a very successful one-man effort that delivers an impressive action-platformer with a combination of exploration, combat and obstacle overcoming. The game has a great atmosphere and a very hilarious soundtrack which, if you're a fan and liked the soundtrack of the Vikings series for example, you'll be thrilled to hear. Unfortunately the game is quite short and the combat could use a bit more depth or variety. If you like platformers with obstacle climbing and are tempted to wander through the very well crafted Nordic world, then you will not go wrong with this game.

Lovecraft's Untold Stories is a pretty fun shooter for the most part, and there are some nice stories to read for fans of Lovecraft's work. More than the pixelated nightmares, however, you'll find the horrifyingly undetailed traps that will kill you without mercy. Still, you'll definitely enjoy fighting your way through the hordes of enemies to the Ancients themselves.

8.5 / 10.0 - HighFleet
Sep 25, 2021

HighFleet is really a very successful game that combines several gameplay elements together and greatly revitalizes the shoot 'em up genre with new elements. In terms of sophistication and the combination of several gameplay elements, this is a brilliant title that definitely impresses. However, there are flaws, especially within the chaos that immediately falls upon the player in the first few hours before they become more familiar with everything. However, if you give this game a chance and spend a few hours getting to grips with the game's principles, controls and mechanisms, it becomes a definite time guzzler.

8 / 10.0 - Before Your Eyes
Sep 23, 2021

Before Your Eyes is a very interesting title that combines an emotional story with original controls. The simpler graphics are not at all a bad thing, and together with the soundtrack and intuitive gameplay, they form a hilarious whole. If you're in the mood for a shorter, yet engaging affair, I can only recommend this game. However, I strongly advise you to get a good webcam and prepare a well-lit background beforehand. You won't regret it.

8.5 / 10.0 - Layers of Fear
Sep 22, 2021

Layers of Fear is a very good horror adventure game with an original story, a great atmosphere and a compulsion that will pull you further and further. However, the game is quite short and can be run through in nearly an hour and a half of gameplay. If you put in a little effort and focus on exploring the various documents that lead more towards explaining the story and your character, you'll get to two hours of pure game time. It should be added, however, that this is only one playthrough. The game offers three different final endings, and therefore different renditions of the final image. So if you want to see all the available endings, then the game will keep you entertained for seven hours of your time.

If you're looking for a game that's different, and you like paranormal stories, I recommend giving Murdered: Soul Suspect a try. Overall, I liked the game. The crime is actually very mysterious and unconventional in this story, and with that comes an ending that surprised me quite a bit.

Sep 21, 2021

Catty and Batty: The Spirit Guide is a very nicely crafted game - what you see is drawn and created by hand, the calm soundtrack fits and everything just sort of complements each other. With its thirty levels and about two hours of gameplay, it's a nice respite that will delight and fill the dreary winter evenings. For some four euros, the game is well worth it and you will, despite a few nervous moments of cursing at the harder levels, want it to have a sequel.

This is a very well crafted action and sniper simulator in the Middle East. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 will excite almost all players of this genre despite a weaker story and occasionally bad AI. The new edition of this game, specifically the PS5 version that I had the opportunity to play, is in my opinion very well done by the developers, but there is still room for improvement. I will still look forward to the new installments of the game series. If you are a fan of this genre and the game intrigues you, feel free to add 1-2 extra points to my rating and start playing.

9 / 10.0 - Metro Exodus
Sep 19, 2021

Metro Exodus is without a doubt the best crafted game in the Metro series. It has taken the biggest step forward in the series story-wise, and with new options, characters and locations, the game never loses pace. I enjoyed the nearly 30 hours I spent in the game immensely, and I'm not afraid to say that Metro is still one of the elite old-school shooters.

6.5 / 10.0 - Creepy Tale 2
Sep 19, 2021

Creepy Tale 2 has plenty of references to our favourite classic Slavic fairy tales in exactly the eerily dark setting we would expect from a horror adventure game. Compared to the first installment, the developers decided to experiment a bit, and not everything is a completely welcome change. The unbalanced difficulty of the puzzles, along with certain passages of the game, will often make you wail or curse. Despite all this, it's still an interesting one-off that can keep you entertained for a couple of hours.

6 / 10.0 - Sanity of Morris
Sep 19, 2021

How to define Sanity of Morris? It would probably be most appropriate to describe this game as a psychological thriller linked by the emotional bond between John and Hank, with hidden elements shrouded in a fog of mystery and clever puzzles. While it's an interesting title in terms of story, the gameplay here is rather lacking. The game has two possible endings and it's up to you to decide how this story ends for John and Hank.

8 / 10.0 - Blair Witch VR
Sep 19, 2021

Blair Witch VR is a hilarious reworking of the original psychological horror game into a virtual reality environment. While the graphics are mediocre, it makes up for these shortcomings in intuitive controls. The story treatment is nice and the game manages to create the right spooky atmosphere. The variety of ways to work with Bullet the dog is perfect, but his behaviour is a bit imperfect, especially fetching, and the frequent barking is annoying.

The Tetris Effect: Connected is undoubtedly a great successor to the more than 35-year-old classic, and if you're a Tetris fan or just want to reminisce about your childhood, there's no reason not to get the latest addition to the family. However, you have to swallow the slightly higher price tag than would probably be worthy of a game of this type.
