55 / 100 - LEGO Bricktales
Oct 11, 2022

As usual, we remind you that these opinions may resonate with some players while others may disagree entirely, so don't dwell too much on what's been said. Fans of LEGO and pure, classic creation may appreciate this title. However, from our perspective, it's a real disaster, sadly having the potential to be a good game. Bricktales doesn't excel in graphics, music, or story, but most disappointingly, it fails in gameplay, which becomes a real nightmare, especially as the frustration grows throughout the adventure. The characters aren't particularly entertaining or distinct, lacking the charm that has always characterized the series when working with existing franchises. Moreover, ClockStone Studios clearly didn't adapt the concept well to consoles, and since we specialize in them, we can't recommend it. Let's hope for a better LEGO title, maybe from Light Brick Studio again.

80 / 100 - Tunic
Sep 27, 2022

Tunic returns to PlayStation after a successful debut on Xbox, and Sony console owners should be thrilled and ready to purchase for this simple reason. Andrew Shouldice's digital translation work hasn't diminished the original's quality, bringing it to Japanese hardware in great shape, with solid gameplay blending various inspirations. If you love Zelda-inspired action/adventures and don't mind a slightly above-average difficulty, the little fox's adventure might be perfect for you.

The DioField Chronicles is a well-made, interesting, and engaging real-time strategy game with excellent music and graphics, and gameplay that entertains without tiring, thanks to mission variety and longevity. These allow players to savor the game in small doses or immerse themselves for hours while progressing the plot. The minor flaws are easily overlooked, except for the lack of our language, which may affect sales. However, for those proficient in English (or French, or German, as these are available in subtitles), it can still be fully enjoyed. The game is available on all platforms: Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5. The deluxe version includes a digital artbook and soundtrack, with the option to transfer the latter to USB and listen anywhere.

This latest title is clearly born from immense passion, evident in every pixel of its unique and fitting graphics, despite differing opinions. The attention to detail, story, and characters elevate it to iconic status, becoming an instant classic in the series. The characters' charisma and connection feel so natural that it seems they've always existed, perfectly integrated into the game universe. This return marks the end of a mature and characteristic cycle, concluding exactly as it should, leaving a deep and mature sentiment with a practically perfect/imperfect ending achievable in about 20 hours (more or less depending on individual skills and use of hints). Play it if you want the nostalgic feeling of old graphic adventures and finally discover Monkey Island's secret, hidden for thirty years.

Destroy All Humans 2 – Reprobed does exactly what you'd expect from a remake of this kind: taking the original material and modernizing it for today's audience, who, for age reasons, couldn't experience the PS2 era saga, which we can now call a small cult classic. This return of Crypto-138, with added side missions, also offers something for old fans. Destroy All Humans 2 – Reprobed is recommended for a wide range of audiences: younger players seeking old-school fun and longtime fans enjoying destroying humanity again.

What more is there to say about Metal: Hellsinger? An original game with many strengths, embracing a meta-gameplay concept but, unfortunately, falls short in classic "game" numbers. A short campaign and design limitations partly overshadow the fun and furious rhythm-based gameplay, complemented by a legendary soundtrack. Recommended especially for shooter and metal fans (usually a standard combo). Could this be the start of a long game saga?

75 / 100 - Soulstice
Sep 20, 2022

Despite some flaws and a lack of technical depth, Reply Game Studios' work has shown character and a clear identity, thanks to a fascinating world and well-developed protagonists. In a time flooded with souls-like games and an absolute scarcity of action hack 'n' slash, Soulstice is a blessing for genre fans who will find hours of enjoyable entertainment in this Italian-developed game.

90 / 100 - Inscryption
Sep 13, 2022

Inscryption is a masterpiece, a gem, a must-play title. Stop reading and go buy it on the PlayStation Store. Do I need to elaborate further? To flesh this out a bit more, I'll repeat ad nauseam: don't be deceived by its card game nature. Daniel Mullins' title hides much more beneath its seductive surface; just have the patience to look beyond appearances. Don't hesitate, the reward will be immensely satisfying. Okay, I think I've finally said enough.

Sep 12, 2022

We've reached the end of this analysis of The Last of Us Part 1, and for me, the initial questions don't entirely favor this re-release of the Naughty Dog classic. While the technical polish is evident and palpable, the stark contrast between the price and the quality and quantity of the offer can't be overlooked. The content is identical to the PS4 release, which can be found for a fraction of the cost (or free with PlayStation Plus). Thus, the rating below considers this imbalance, which, while not affecting the game's quality, makes this commercial move seem too bold and audacious this time.

70 / 100 - Thymesia
Sep 9, 2022

Just as I mentioned a few days ago for Steelrising, it was impossible for Thymesia to emerge unscathed from a clash with the behemoth that is Elden Ring. Nonetheless, considering the project's scale and its price, OverBorder Studio's debut in the gaming scene is commendable. Although highly derivative in themes and mechanics, their effort to shuffle the deck regarding the combat system is appreciated, even if, personally, the emphasis on parrying wasn't my favorite. The overall experience, while enjoyable and fun, wasn't free from some naivety, primarily the ease of breaking the game with specific builds. However, the young team has shown they can bring interesting ideas to the table, which we hope will be even better expressed in their next project.

50 / 100 - We Are OFK
Sep 8, 2022

Unfortunately, there's not much else to add because there's no more content to discuss. We Are OFK captures attention with its colors and visuals, and the marketing did an excellent job with the trailers, but is it because the visual aspect is all that matters in this "game"? The spontaneous question is: why pass it off as a game when it's clearly a five-episode TV series, meant to be watched on YouTube while munching popcorn and fiddling with your phone? The game itself, when starting, shows a Netflix-style interface asking, "Who's watching?" Maybe we're not the only ones with this impression. The choice is yours.

72 / 100 - Saints Row
Sep 8, 2022

Let's be clear: Saints Row is a reboot with an asterisk. A big asterisk since the main change from the past is the game's tone. The tone has shifted from absurd and brutally politically incorrect to a lighthearted and adolescent humor, more commercially viable and politically clean but probably less entertaining, especially for long-time fans. Overall, Volition's title is a fairly fun and lengthy open-world action game, but it offers a content package that's conceptually old and almost unchanged from previous entries. Additionally, at least on day one, the game is riddled with bugs and various imperfections, making the experience even more "tiring." What's left is a good dish, perhaps a bit blander than before but certainly already tasted.

70 / 100 - Steelrising
Sep 7, 2022

I know, by this point in the reading (because you've read this far, right?), you might find the score below too generous. In reality, despite its evident limits, I find it hard to condemn the work of Spiders, who, despite their first experience in the soulslike genre (and releasing just months after Elden Ring), have managed to create a fun and accessible experience. This isn't necessarily a flaw for such a production. True, Steelrising has some technical and gameplay naivety, but Aegis's adventure is enjoyable and engaging, even if it doesn't excel in any aspect. Hopefully, with the Greedfall sequel, the French studio will finally make the long-awaited quality leap. In the meantime, let's enjoy their latest work.

Pac-Man World Re-Pac has been a delightful return, providing hours of simple fun and entertainment thanks to its simplicity and gameplay that hasn't aged much over 20 years. A trip down memory lane for both nostalgic players and younger audiences who couldn't experience this first 3D Pac-Man adventure.

Money-grabbing operation or a true gift for nostalgics (or simple enthusiasts)? The truth, as always, lies in the buyer's expectations. It's worth emphasizing that for a real fan, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is a sort of Holy Grail of the turtle quartet's adventures, bringing back their most famous and beloved productions. In this sense, for once (at the risk of repeating myself), we are pleasantly compelled to commend Konami's moves, which, unlike in recent times, have shown respect for fans' affection. Rich in extras, the collection is a good reason to beat up the Foot Clan's thugs again, perhaps preparing tissues to wipe away the tears of those who spent endless hours with the four pizza-loving ninjas in the roaring '80s and '90s.

85 / 100 - Cult of the Lamb
Aug 29, 2022

Cult of the Lamb is a small gem, an experiment nearly successful but not quite there: the mix of action and strategy, along with unique and well-crafted stylistic choices, makes it a contender for the title. What it lacks to enter the pantheon is a necessary content extension and more meticulous balancing of its parts. Nonetheless, it's a unique and interesting experience, perfect for those not particularly expert in the genre (and who don't have specific religious sensitivities).

80 / 100 - Rollerdrome
Aug 16, 2022

Mixing my gaming career with the skates and violence of Rollerdrome was a pleasant surprise, especially given the lukewarm (to say the least) appeal of the announcement trailer. Roll7's title, like all the studio's productions, is much more fun to play than to passively watch. The reasons lie in gameplay that perfectly blends the team's freestyle spirit with an adrenaline-fueled, well-constructed TPS framework. The resulting mix is original and engaging, aided by a non-trivial challenge level, though it lacks overall content, admittedly a bit limited, but in line with the selling price. Hopefully, the English team can expand their creation over time, as the dystopian world of Rollerdrome seems to have many more stories to tell.

55 / 100 - Digimon Survive
Aug 16, 2022

Disappointment seems the right word to conclude this review of Digimon Survive. We knew we were getting a Visual Novel long before getting our hands on the game, but once we did, it felt like a questionable, if not unfortunate, choice. The plot is the only redeeming quality, but it can't save a production that risks boring players with its very slow pace and shallow gameplay.

85 / 100 - Severed Steel
Aug 9, 2022

Severed Steel, despite some inherent limitations, is an excellent product: lively gameplay, ultra-dynamic action, a level design that endlessly reworks a few good concepts, all make up for a limited campaign only partially invigorated by the FireFight mode. A fine product at a reasonable price, sure to please those who enjoy shooters mixed with high doses of frenetic parkour.

Aug 8, 2022

Judging Turrican Anthology Vol. 1 & 2 isn't easy, especially from the perspective of a fan of Manfred Trenz's creation. Such fans might overlook the ill-advised (and money-grabbing) decision to split the collection into two volumes, driven by love that's hard to quantify economically. Setting this particular target aside, the two well-packaged collections offer a rich gaming history with thoughtfully conceived enhancements, albeit at a steep price. As always with nostalgia-driven operations, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. As a series superfan, I recommend waiting for a price drop despite the collection's quality. The spontaneous question arises: a new episode?
