3 / 10.0 - Drive Girls
Sep 14, 2017

Aside from a few very rare moments of fun, that's ultimately the problem with Drive Girls. It has a unique premise but nothing else stands out, and what is left is a game that is neither very fun, very memorable, nor even interesting. It's a game that I could only recommend to the utmost hardcore fans of niche games, and that's knowing all the caveats. It's just a title I couldn't get into, I couldn't enjoy, and ultimately felt like barely any effort was put into to make it engaging or stand out. The premise alone sounds so interesting, so its makes the final results hurt even more. This is one flat tire.

For the price of entry, Redout sticks out as a great entry in the futuristic racing genre.

An adventure dungeon crawler with a wacky and funny heart.

9 / 10.0 - Windjammers
Sep 5, 2017

It might be a relic of old arcade fun, but there must be a reason so many people love it, and it seems truly good gameplay mechanics don't age if Windjammers is anything to go by.

Thimbleweed Park isn’t going to bring any newcomers to the genre if it’s never been the type of game to draw player’s attention. Otherwise this is a wonderful love letter to the genre from one of the original creators. It’s funny, brain busting, and just a fun title that truly brings out the best aspects of the point and click genre.

8.5 / 10.0 - Observer

I've always thought thinking of the future could be scary, but Observer takes it to the next level.

Really, for those that have already played Revelations, there isn't any huge reason to run out and grab this again unless A. It's never been played before B. Love to collect or purchase anything with Resident Evil in the title, or C. Just simply want to replay it again on the new consoles. There's nothing really wrong with the game as far as coming over to the PS4, and mileage will vary on the repeated issues the game does have, like handheld design roots, scope, and limited animations.

The excellent music and voice acting, the wonderful writing, and the multitude of ways quests can play out just add up to Pillars being a wonderful RPG to add to the collection. PC players have known this for a while, but console owners can now experience this for themselves.

All that said, The Metronomicon is a solid musical experience with a cool twist. It offers a story mode, challenge modes, and endless mode and is just a fun light-hearted rhythm game that can be fun for people of all ages. Highly recommended, and if the music genre is to a player’s preference, then quest onward and tap to the beat!

Even with the way my experience ended and then resumed, I still found the game a joy to play. Mages of Mystralia is a solid title that offers a classic fantasy story with heart and a great magic system that I will surely jump back into once the game does get an update. The story might even surprise players just a tad. Overall, every time I jump into the game, I have a blast experimenting with magic and it’s all wrapped around a game that is wonderful. I can’t wait to jump back in for the last hour or two and finish it up.

Overall the game can still be completed rather quickly, and the experience is definitely shallow as far as depth goes, but it's charming and a great piece of videogame history.

The game works and doesn't seem to have any huge issues, but that's about the best I can say.

7.5 / 10.0 - Agents of Mayhem
Aug 15, 2017

Ultimately I had a great time becoming an agent; I laughed, I shoot a bunch of baddies, and I grew to love the Agents of Mayhem. There is quite a bit of content here and this won't blow anyone away as far as mission design or open world games goes, but I couldn't stop smiling, laughing, and playing until it was finished, regardless of its flaws.

7.5 / 10.0 - Nidhogg 2
Aug 15, 2017

I feel like a sequel should usually try to mix things up a bit or do more, but Nidhogg 2 feels like a safe bet. More of the same and just a different look. For newcomers, it's no worries, for fans, it could be a slight disappointment. It's still a fun and frantic game, and that quality shines throughout, regardless of walking the same line as the first.

Some new players might be off put by the jump in quality between the older and newer games in the pack, or even the difficulty some of these provide, but for the price, it's a nice little package to have.

It's the epitome of being a game for fans and only for the fans "if" they like the gameplay loop, otherwise all that's left is a story to follow and if that's all the fun, the game might as well have been another visual novel.

6 / 10.0 - 99Vidas
Aug 3, 2017

This genre is for a special crowd of players that either love the genre or have loved it since they were kids. They're not the deepest experiences, and they are definably better with friends. Playing alone can be a bit of a drag, as some levels go on longer then needed. Though bring a few friends, get on the couch, have some snacks and enjoy a few hours of old school arcade fun. Sometimes that's all you need.

Yet, I can’t fully recommended it currently without some warning. There are a few game breaking bugs ruining the game. From games that won’t load, to getting NPC players stuck in the party forever. The devs are aware of it and if they fix this, the score would go up another whole point. As it stands it’s a great game that get a bit repetitive, and has some irritating bugs that could potentially kill all progress in the story. Once those bugs get squashed, it’s a game most RPG fans definitely deserve to check out. It has heart, charm, and lots of funny moments. It just needs a little bit more of “TLC” to give it a full recommended purchase.

The red planet can be an extremely exciting setting in videogames, but here it's just another color palette.

The developer’s hearts are in the right place and I think they have a solid game on their hands that could just use a bit more gameplay or RPG elements to add to the mix making a sequel a stand out title that rivals some of the bigger RPG devs out there. As it is, it’s an enjoyable romp and one that I’d recommend for anyone that has an interesting, even if they might want to wait on a sale price.
