Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition captures what makes the original game great, however, it also constantly reminds us that it isn't as great as its older brother. All the upgrades can't hide that the game is outdated, but it's still extremely addictive and fun to play.

Despite some technical problems, Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is another great remaster, allowing us to fall in love with the series once again, just in time for Age of Empires IV.

Age of Empires III campaign might not be the best in the franchise, some of its mechanics are overly obtuse. It takes time to get used to it, but Age of Empires III is still a rare gem.

No matter who you play as Strategy is the name of the game and you have to be somewhat quick about everything. It’s important to remember that while you are gathering resources to build your Civilization up, your enemies may have started at a magnificent spot lush with resources and maybe getting ready to invade surrounding areas. I remember having the ability to speed up or slow down the game in earlier versions of the game, if that feature is in AOE3, I could not find it.

While maybe a slightly unneccesary remaster, it has been a very pleasant one to play. With this remaster Age of Empires III can proudly stand next to the other games in the franchise.

The odd-ball of the AoE family is back and is better than ever. This remake won’t change the minds of people who didn’t like it upon its original release, but it does celebrate an RTS that dared to try something new.
