Dakka Squadron's fast, varied, and challenging aerial combat make it a lot of fun, but it's so singularly geared towards a specific audience that it's hard to recommend to anyone who doesn't already know their squigs from their squiggoths. Otherwise, it's the most fun I've had playing a Warhammer 40k action game since Relic's Space Marine.

Despite being a mobile port, Dakka Squadron is a fun game that has its flaws. Graphically, there's nothing to fault, but technically it's worse. The game's controls take some getting used to, but the camera in particular will still annoy the hell out of you. I honestly can't imagine how Dakka Squadron must be played on phones. Before you decide to buy this piece, I recommend you play the demo first. You can get Dakka Squadron on Steam for €16.79, and on mobile for $4.99.

If you can parse down the file size significantly, change the interface so you aren’t using a floating mouse cursor, lower the unlock price tags and polish the performance overall, this could be a fun little title regardless of your familiarity with Warmhammer 40,000. As it stands, Dakka Squadron is boring, repetitive, painful and a waste of time, especially if you aren’t out here just to screech a line from a game while others hoot in acknowledgement.

This one’s is on the cusp of being something cool, but its origins on mobile doesn’t make for a good port to PC. It’s not a bad game, just one that’s lacking in just about every regard. However, when the friction is at its least, then there’s mindless fun to be had. Warhammer 40,000: Dakka Squadron – Flyboyz Edition is fun in ways Warhammer 40K games usually aren’t thanks to the aerial combat, but it needed to be so much better than this.

Warhammer 40,000: Dakka Squadron is a fun and unique title, but the game suffers a bit from its multiplatform release. The PC version could use a bit more polish and tweaks to work better as a computer game. However, if these issues are fix, the game could end up being one of the best Warhammer 40k titles out there.
