Outside of the lengthy modes discussed, it's just what you want out of a football game: a damn good game of footy. I don't care what they call it next year, if it improves on this then I will be there on day one.

An increased focus on the women's game and accessibility features marks a bold play for new audiences ahead of EA Sports' split from FIFA.

FIFA 23 makes history as the most realistic football simulator in the series and with HyperMotion technology getting increasingly more impressive, the future looks bright for EA SPORTS FC. Some gameplay fine-tuning is needed to streamline things and the SBC change in Ultimate Team won't be a welcome one, but there's no denying it's the best on-pitch action in years.

So is it worth it this year? That's a firm "yes". The Hypermotion 2 engine lives up to it's hype and delivers what it probably the best simulation of football I've seen. You have a variety of game modes to find your favorites with some like Volta that deliberately speed up the pace that the engine tends to slow down in Career. You also have the widest variety of stars to choose from featuring men's and women's teams as well as all the licenses and real player likenesses you can hope for. However, Career mode needs some love. And by love I don't mean more meaningless transfer cutscenes. I mean depth beyond just the UK pyramid: add some real lower division teams across leagues and stop neglecting everything outside of Europe.

FIFA greets its fans with an ambitious and rich entry, managing to compensate for some historical mistakes with a convincing mix of arcade nuances and simulation realism.

FIFA 23 is a very good football game, but it comes without a highlight and sometimes half-baked in the implementation of new features.

EA Sports truly gave us a different game from FIFA 22 and at last we feel that we are entering a new era. A final instalment with FIFA that will convince you no matter which game mode you choose. EA Sports reinvented FUT such as the career mode and gave the player a whole new aspect to the game. FIFA 23 keeps its promises and in short, EA Sports has mastered its subject on almost every point.

FIFA 23 is a fitting end to a great partnership between FIFA and EA. Perhaps the best representation of the real game we have ever had. An excellent send-off for a beloved franchise.

Even though it has not gained a qualitative leap, FIFA 23 has done the best possible within the frame where it belongs. Engine changes and the addition of new actions have added a lot of fresh ideas to the basic gameplay. Several changes to the career mode have given the single-player experience many improvements. The FUT mode provides more benefits to players. Unfortunately, the new system "highlight" is not as good as the experience.

FIFA 23 keeps the series tradition, with extremely fun gameplay, good improvements in comparison to last year, beautiful graphics and rich game modes that will keep you entertained for hours and hours. It may not the most accurate football simulator on the market, but it is so far ahead its competition that, if you are a soccer fan, this is the game for you.

All in all, then, while not a revolution, EA hasn’t rested on its laurels when it comes to FIFA 23. From meaningful tweaks and additions to modes, to a noticeably improved on-pitch experience, it’s simply bigger and better than its predecessors in every single way. And so the FIFA series, at least with EA at the helm, is going out with a bang rather than a whimper. But if EA Sports FC is to truly impress, it’s going to have to deliver something fresh.

FIFA 23 is good old FIFA with a lot of little tweaks that will surely appeal to a section of fans. If you've skipped a year or two or have a new console, the differences are noticeable. For others, there are some good things.

If 'FIFA 23' is the last image that we will take from a mythical saga that has reigned over the video game industry for more than 30 years, there is nothing more just and poetic than closing its "last dance" in style with a work that exceeds all expectations and sets a new standard for how the titles of the ninth generation of consoles should look, feel and play.

In the last title with the famous name, EA Sports FIFA 23 brought good news and kept its greatest qualities. For example, the FUT mode is still addictive, the gameplay now has a better balance between cadence and speed, and we have many ways to play football. There are still issues, such as visually and mechanically, but they don't compromise the overall experience. It remains to be in the crowd so that the next title continues to reinforce and improve the squad and, who knows, be considered a true champion.

FIFA 23 is one of those entries in this series that, in fact, improves several aspects and meets some criticisms or requests from fans. The career mode is more customizable than ever and introduces some important additions, and the expansion of women's football modes is a great step forward for the game. What's more, the fact that we now have a really fun set-piece system and that the new animations make every game moment more realistic and exciting, deserve all the praise. I just can't say that this title enters the top of the best simulators for the insistence of errors and unresolved problems, and for the fact that its most popular mode continues to be incredibly unbalanced and uncontrolled. But if you are fans of the king's sport, you have one of the most solid offerings of recent years here, which is presented as a great goal at the end of the curtain.

FIFA 23 says goodbye to the name in its best form in recent years. It's not brilliant, but it is uncomplicatedly the best soccer game you will find this year in all aspects: gameplay, graphics, game modes, and above all fun.
