Chronicles of 2 Heroes: Amaterasu's Wrath is a fun videogame, with a well-implemented and detailed game design. The context is intriguing and interesting, capable of projecting the player into a new way of approaching Japan. Too bad for some technical flaws.

Chronicles of 2 Heroes: Amaterasu's Wrath is challenging and knows how to rely on the aesthetics adopted and the metroidvania model of progress, but it is in the dynamics of changing characters in real time where its true differential lies.

The underlying switching mechanic is strong and most of the platforming is solid in theory. It feels like this one needed more time in the oven, but a more refined version–or a sequel left to gestate–would probably provide a great time. As it stands, Chronicles of 2 Heroes is a mildly frustrating experience that I had to convince myself to keep playing for this review.

A 16-bit action platformer that doesn't change, but rather reformulates the most basic mechanics of the genre to give birth to exponentially challenging levels until the bitter >and sweet last moment of the story.

Chronicles of 2 Heroes is a solid platformer with a few quirks. Its challenges are unevenly distributed and its physics are rough, but I like the hero switching concept and I found a lot of fun in taking on some of the game's difficult puzzles. I can definitely recommend this game to the folks that love pixel-perfect jumps.
