Tales of Arise: Beyond The Dawn Reviews
Tales of Arise: Beyond The Dawn is a maxi-DLC that expands the lore and the contents of the original game, starting from the game finale and with a story of over twenty hours.

Tales of Arise’s ambitions to deal with a weighty, pressing theme slightly outpace execution, particularly in the latter half of the story, but the effort is noble, and the game is certainly capable of generating thought and discussion like a great work of art should.
Tales of Arise: Beyond The Dawn tells us what happened after the original adventure with a solid story and an endearing character, but fails to recycle everything else. While the storyline is good, the lack of new content makes us doubt the value of this new expansion. Tales of Arise: Beyond The Dawn is only for those who were left wanting to know what happened next, and are looking for a reason to return to the world of Tales of Arise.

Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn delivers a lot of extra content and manages to delve even deeper into the history of the people of Dehna and Rena, making it a must-have DLC for those who loved spending hours on end helping Alphen and his friends in the main campaign.

Beyond the Dawn is a simple revisit to check on what the characters been up to after the base game, with no new locations or playable characters made the whole thing feel like a wasted opportunity

Tales of Arise - Beyond the Dawn explores life after the main story. However, it does so without adding anything substantial and the story feels rushed which makes this DLC hard to recommend even for fans of the main game (which is, in fact, awesome). ⚔️
Tales of ARISE - Beyond the Dawn Edition is a terrific game, easily clocking in over 50 hours with the Beyond the Dawn update. It’s ideal for long-time Tales fans and new players who seek a fast way to get into the series. It was released years ago, but it’s still a fantastic example of how to modernize an established JRPG series while staying faithful to its roots.
Many games have been getting ported to Nintendo Switch 2 years after being released on other platforms, but Tales of ARISE, being bundled with the Beyond the Dawn story expansion, makes it a great incentive for fans to relive an epic story, plus its continuation and a great way for newcomers to get into the game. Tales of ARISE – Beyond the Dawn Edition is an epic story that needs to be experienced at home or on the go.
Tales of Arise remains one of the best modern entries in Bandai Namco's long-running RPG series and the Nintendo Switch 2 version successfully brings that experience to a portable format.
Tales of ARISE - Beyond the Dawn Edition players clearly cared a lot about these characters, so it always opts for emotional familiarity over dramatic change. This can limit your aims, but it does a great job of keeping the spirit of the original voyage alive.
Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition brings the base game and Beyond the Dawn to Nintendo Switch 2 with enjoyable party combat, a memorable cast, and a full single-player RPG package. The 30 fps gameplay target, visible pop-in, and softer handheld image make this version a clear tradeoff, but it’s still a good way to start if Nintendo Switch 2 is where you want to play.
In many ways, Tales of Arise feels perfect for Nintendo’s hybrid. The structure naturally lends itself to portable play, the performance holds up remarkably well, and the complete package offers absurd value for JRPG fans who somehow missed it the first time around. More importantly, this isn’t one of those compromised handheld ports that constantly remind you what you’re missing elsewhere. The soul of Tales of Arise remains completely intact on Switch 2. The emotional story still land. Combat still feels fantastic. The world still begs to be explored. That’s what matters most. For newcomers, this is an easy recommendation. For returning fans, the portability alone might justify a second journey through Dahna.
Tales of Arise is an essential recommendation for absolutely any video game fan — an epic journey worth every second of your time because it delivers the perfect balance: a deep, mature, and layered story for those looking to be emotionally invested in an excellent narrative, while also offering an incredibly dynamic, stylish combat system with satisfying controls for players seeking pure action and refined gameplay.

This edition stands as the definitive version of one of the best JRPGs of recent years. Despite technical compromises related to frame rate and the chronic weakness of side quests, the epic tale of Alphen and Shionne shines thanks to rock-solid action, superb art direction, and a massive amount of content. A highly recommended purchase for both veterans and newcomers alike, perfect for passing the time while we await the saga’s next installment.

Despite the visual issues, Tales of Arise - Beyond the Dawn Edition does feel great on the Switch 2. The trade-offs here are understandable, as having one of the best JRPGs of this generation on the go is fantastic. The base game feels as good as ever, with the expansion being a solid add-on
Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition can be described as an "almost" perfect Nintendo Switch 2 port. It is a complete edition that packs both the main game and the expansion, boasting visual quality that holds its own against the PS5 and Xbox Series X. The only real downside is the 30 fps cap, which is a critical drawback for an action game. It leaves a lingering sense of disappointment, as if falling just short of the perfect finishing touch.

Tales of Arise - Beyond the Dawn is a DLC that comes two years after the release of the main game and adds nothing to the experience in terms of gameplay. On the contrary, by almost completely wiping out the player's progress in the main story, it nullifies what was done before. However, when viewed as a stand-alone piece of content dedicated exclusively to Tales of Arise fans, Beyond the Dawn is the perfect opportunity to return to the twin worlds and reunite with some much-loved and well-written characters: an embrace that takes advantage of the nostalgia effect and gives us the opportunity to travel a little longer with Alphen, Shionne and the others. A winning team does not change... but we would have expected more.

Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn maintains the high quality of the base game, but lacks the new content to stand out as a substantial expansion. Don’t get me wrong, the storytelling is great, the combat is still fantastic, and the world looks amazing, but the lack of new playable characters, Artes, and areas to explore does leave it feeling a little underwhelming. I’d still highly recommend playing Beyond the Dawn if you enjoyed Tales of Arise the first time around (and it still gets a good score because it’s a really fun experience), but maybe keep your expectations in check if you were hoping for something that evolves and expands upon what made the base game so good to begin with.
Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn didn't meet all my expectations, but I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed this chapter in the Tales series, so I was very happy to return to it 2 years later. I think the stage is set for a real sequel, and Nazamil's new character should be a central part of it. So, if you're thirsty to go back, go ahead with the DLC. Otherwise, you're not missing out on anything completely unmissable.

The expansion is therefore not the right start for a new player. As a new player, it is best to just start with the basic game. This is an expansion aimed at players who have completed the basic game completely. This way you can take all your characters with you and it feels less like you're getting a generic start. You understand how all the systems work and the main story of Tales of Arise is wonderfully epic. Beyond the Dawn has little added value, except to extend the playing time a little more.
