If you're a fan of the same LEGO formula, then you're sure to find something to enjoy from Marvel Avengers. Just don't expect the slapstick and spoof jokes that we've come to see in other titles, as here you only get a cutup retelling of the two films, complete with LEGO animations. The gameplay too doesn't offer anything new, though the open world environments are a nice deviation from the linear plot scenarios.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers allows fans of the film franchise to relive exciting moments throughout the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, across a number of movies like Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Captain America, Thor: The Dark World, and others.

The 'Lego' games have always been a known quantity, but perhaps familiarity is beginning to breed contempt. 'Lego Marvel's Avengers' wasn't able to hold my attention as well as its forebears, even though it's not a markedly different experience. Perhaps it's time for the series to get a shot in the arm.

LEGO Marvel Avengers for the 3DS is another lacklustre conversion of a superb LEGO game. Hopefully, the rumoured NX hardware will finally give gamers the opportunity to experience the full package on a handheld. To be fair, it's not all bad, and, yes, there are some great stages, and the game is stuffed to bursting with the series signature humour and style. The low price tag helps, but overall this just feels forgettable.

A few new wrinkles such as the team-up attacks and the really cool audio part of the presentation are quite welcome, and I think these superhero games lend themselves to the TT Games better than most genres due to the large number of unique skills. It's reliable fun, but we keep saying this - TT Games needs to start bringing some genuinely original new ways of looking at LEGO, or the scores will start to fall as people get very tired of doing the same thing over and over again.

Ultimately, LEGO Marvel's Avengers delivers plenty of fan service, but it fails to top its predecessors. Instead of something new and innovative, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is a by-the-numbers sequel that scratches the LEGO itch but doesn't offer much more than that. It's also the easiest LEGO game yet.

In conclusion, this another Traveller's Tales LEGO game, with all the baggage that entails. As an example of the breed, it's a very good one, but the age of the model is now starting to show and some sort of revolution (rather than a gradual evolution) must now be overdue. However, given the strength of the source material of these films, it makes a very decent fist of being a good game, as opposed to just being one of the better LEGO games.

I'm not going to lie; it's incredibly overwhelming for a LEGO game to have this much to explore. LEGO Marvel's Avengers has its weird moments, but you can't deny there is plenty to do or that the gameplay is rather well polished. It doesn't even have those lovely glitches LEGO games infamously contain, and they have finally cleaned up the flying mechanics. Fans of the LEGO games and Marvel movies will enjoy it regardless of the minor issues.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers is not ashamed of its predecessor. Where LEGO Marvel's Super Heroes proposed 140 playable characters, LEGO Marvel's Avengers offers us nearly 200 heroes and vilains. If by habit we know that the LEGO games become repetitive in the long run, it is quite surprised to find that the title doesn't bother to innovate at all. Trying too hard to put fill the package with extra visual effects, developers have forgotten the readability of certain levels. Let's hope now for some change in maybe a future LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy.

Lego Marvel's Avengers is just another LEGO game by TT Games, but the gameplay and concept still works even after 11 years. If you're looking for fun game with superheroes, this is what you're looking for.

Unlike the previous Lego Marvel outing, Marvel's Avengers ties-in with the popular Marvel movies and comes booted, and suited with 8 open-world hubs! But will this be enough to warrant a purchase from even the most loyal of .fans.
