Astlibra's DLC is an excellent addition to the fantastic title, however, it's hard to recommend as a standalone title for players who have never played the original.

While the story itself is nothing special, the action is rousing, and the cycle of running through the cave is stimulating. Getting the sexy outfits is the real journey of the game and will take gamers well over 20 hours to earn, which is a huge value for ten dollars.

Astlibra Gaiden: The Cave of Phantom Mist can offer a few hours of familiar action combat, with a few tweaks here and there. But the reuse of assets and a randomised dungeon system that offers no variety makes for a rather bland experience over Astlibra Revision. However, if you’re fine with the lack of story content and just want to blast through some monster-filled areas, then The Cave of Phantom Mist is the cheap DLC for you.

ASTLIBRA Gaiden: The Cave of Phantom Mist is an excellent addition to the world of ASTLIBRA Revision, and although it is a spin-off or side story of this, on Nintendo Switch it works as an independent title that we can play and enjoy without having to know Revision beforehand. . Logically, Gaiden borrows quite a few mechanics from the previous title, but the combination of the best of Revision, with the new roguelike mechanics and a quite spectacular staging makes Gaiden more than recommended for fans of the genre.

"ASTLIBRA Gaiden’s roguelite gameplay adds a nice little twist to an already excellent base game. The fantastic combat covers for the repetitive nature of the DLC, but I still ended up enjoying spelunking the cave as our timid but capable baker’s daughter. You want more ASTLIBRA? You’ll find it right here."
