With its cutesy story, significant customization options, and rock-solid co-op gameplay, Lovers is absolutely worth playing.

An exercise in heavenly multitasking that's exhilarating alone but better with a friend.

[C]ome December, when I'm looking back at my favourite gaming memories of 2015, I suspect Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime will be sitting pretty near the top.

The concerns I had when I played Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime at an Xbox event several months ago have been put to rest as this is a fantastic co-op experience.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime isn't meant to be played alone. The game wants you to experience its trials and tribulations with a friend or loved one. The key is finding the right friend or loved one, because enjoying this game requires the right partner. Choose wisely and you'll have a great experience. Choose poorly and it's an exercise in frustration.

Its bubblegum aesthetics may suggest otherwise, but this is a surprisingly hardcore affair that demands patience, constant communication, and dedication.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime may or may not be a great game to play on a date. (Is there even such a thing? Shouldn't there be?) It definitely isn't sexy, and it doesn't have anything to say at all about love as a thing you feel. It is a fantastic engine, however, to enact love as a thing that you do.

It's originality and charm make it stand out from the rest of the XBLA marketplace's indie titles.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a fun and enjoyable take on the shooter genre, focusing on exploration of each area instead of vertical or horizontal scrolling.  While the game seems better suited for two players working together, playing alone with an AI companion brings a bit more challenge to the game.  With the ability to change difficulties on the fly, this is a game that can be enjoyed alone or with a friend.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a cute, simple game about space travel and the power of love. Though you have the option of flying solo, take the title's advice and play through this game with a friend for the optimal experience.

A charmingly well-crafted marriage of co-operative play and Metroidvania esque mechanics, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is quite unlike any PS4 game currently available and is absolutely worth the price of admission for those looking for their next long-term co-op fix.

If My Little Ponies trampled a bouncy house and shot it toward Saturn, then you'd have an idea of what Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime looks like. It'll be tough to make an FTL-like more adorable than this one. The frantic one- or two-player co-op is mandatory and makes for a not-so-lonely outer space.

The Playstation 4 version of Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime lives up to all the thrills and expectations set by the other editions. None of the potential stumbling blocks of should-be-easy ports are observed and fans of the original should find themselves right at home. The only limitations this game contains are whatever it's inherited from original release, which is more of a matter of taste than actual quality. Gamers looking for an excruciating solo challenge or a relationship-testing co-op title, look no further.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a game that may surprise many. Do not let the title's cute appearance deceive you: this is a very challenging release that demands co-operation. Underneath the outing's cuteness is a fantastic co-op experience, which is still an absolutely great game to play solo – even if it's at its very best with partner. If you've been looking for a quality title that you can play with your significant other, nothing says 'I love you' more than working together as a team, saving bunnies, and blowing up aliens.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a game that is definitely worth picking up if you're looking for a new co-operative experience. It's easy to play, but difficult to master, with lots of things to tinker as you to try and figure out the best way to set up your ship. Some understanding of videogames is definitely needed, but the difficulty settings mean that even if you're someone with just a basic grasp of gaming you'll have fun.

Just interesting in single player but exhilarating and crazy in multiplayer, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime surely is worth the download. Be prepared to shoot down tons of aliens and to save a lot of little guys (mostly rabbits), because love has to win and your customized-and-upgraded ship is the only hope left.

I’m sure it is entirely possible to enjoy Lovers playing with just a casual gaming buddy, but there is a certain intimacy created while playing it that seems designed expressly with couples in mind. The ships are small and everyone has to play multiple roles to succeed, and while no character is better or worse than another I found that S. and I naturally settled into our preferred positions on the ship, which isn’t all that different from how I prefer to cook and she tends to do the laundry. Roles need to be filled and sometimes you have to play one that is less comfortable than you’d like, but at the end what’s important is that you are supporting each other. Lovers fosters this dynamic in a way that showcases how fulfilling it is when you allow someone else to support you, rather than try to pull yourself through all on your own.
