Silent Hill 2 Reviews
The Silent Hill 2 remake does an excellent job of bringing the old-school horror of the original into the modern age without copying it. The mood created in the gloomy and deserted town, which becomes more and more blatant and intense as the game progresses, pushed me to my limits time and again as I played, without a succession of intrusive shock moments. Instead, the game thrives on its atmosphere, which is uncomfortable at all times and then becomes really threatening later on. Added to this are sparse lighting conditions, an exceptionally good soundtrack with surreal and consistently unpleasant soundscapes and an overall really good graphical presentation that presents the horror in the best possible light. With its successful mix of well-balanced puzzles, attentive exploration of the environment and powerful close and solidly implemented ranged combat, the new edition of Silent Hill 2 entertained me throughout and wrapped the classic horror gameplay a la Resident Evil in an appealing modern guise. Textures that sometimes load quite late when examining objects, a somewhat jerky performance here and there or the visible blurring at the edges, especially with the hair, which occurs during movement, nevertheless scratch the façade a little. The selection of enemies is also not overwhelming and somewhat monotonous, especially in the long run. Overall, however, the Silent Hill 2 remake manages to retain the splendor of the original and open a door for new generations into the anything but inviting Silent Hill, which every horror fan should have seen.

The remake of “Silent Hill 2” does everything right and leaves me impressed — even without knowing the original game. The game creates a surreal nightmare atmosphere with its storytelling, excellent graphics and unsettling soundscape. The battles against the grotesque creatures are incredibly satisfying, as is solving the tricky puzzles. The fact that the game progresses a little too slowly in places can't dampen my fantastic overall impression.

With excellent performances, improved mechanics, and more than just a fresh coat of paint, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 is one of the studio’s best projects to date. A sinister and compelling return to Silent Hill that you won’t forget in a hurry.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is excellent and Bloober Team's best game - a worthy reimagining of Team Silent's landmark horror title that faithfully captures its great scares, layered characters and emotional impact.
The horror-filled streets of Silent Hill take us deep into the depths of brutality and reunite us with James' unfinished story.

At this point, it’s pretty evident that I am digging my time with the remake, and there’s not a lot of “buts” to go along with it, which is a testament to how Bloober Team revived this classic. Clocking in at around 14-18 hours long in your first playthrough, the game features eight endings which means repeated playthroughts are almost a necessity and further adds to its replay value. The outstanding horror remakes started by Capcom’s Resident Evil remakes, EA’s Dead Space remake continues with Konami’s Silent Hill 2, and horror gaming fans should be delighted, as Bloober Team manages to make this horror classic better in every way, and in turn become a classic of its own. Hopefully, this very promising start means we’ll see Bloober Team continue to remake the rest of the series’ games in the coming years. Regardless if you’re a horror fan or not, you owe it to yourself to brave the fog, paint the town bloody red in Silent Hill 2.
With "Silent Hill 2" Bloober Team has achieved a first-class remake of a true classic game. The new edition surpasses the original in every single category, while the developers managed to skillfully capture its legendary mood.

If we look back at the very first moments when the Silent Hill remake was shown to the public, Konami and Bloober Team's gamble seemed doomed from the start. However, like in the most traditional of redemption stories, the Polish team has delivered one of the best horror experiences of recent years, while also proving to everyone that creating a remake 'faithful to the original work' is indeed possible. Silent Hill 2 is a love letter to the 2001 title, able to captivate new generations while offering just the right amount of novelty to those who adored the original version released for PlayStation 2

It wasn't easy, and after facing a lot of uncertainty and criticism months before its release, Bloober Team has delivered a fantastic remake of a definite horror classic in Silent Hill 2 Remake. The pressure to overcome the odds must have been crippling, but the team has successfully captured the soul of the original and has modernized it with care, resulting in a must-play entry for the series that has been long dormant. From the stunning visuals to the haunting atmosphere and even the immersive audio design, the Silent Hill 2 Remake is a definite addition to gaming libraries everywhere, as its psychological spin on the genre is a testament to the legacy it left behind.
The story and character models are something I can live with. Unless someone is a purist, then the game will certainly make them lose interest very quickly. In my opinion, however, the biggest sins of Silent Hill 2 are the extensive exploration, which eventually becomes tiresome, and the untapped potential of combat.
