Silent Hill 2 Reviews
Silent Hill 2's remake is a fun but flawed take on a flawless gem.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is absolutely an incredible horror gaming experience that successfully expands on the beloved original.
Against the odds, Bloober Team has delivered a remake that both expands Silent Hill 2 in just the right places, and gives careful attention to what it preserves.
Silent Hill 2 is a great way to visit – or revisit – one of the most dread-inducing destinations in the history of survival horror.
Bloober Team’s version of Silent Hill 2 often feels like a high fidelity version of the original with remixed puzzles and item locations. The combat is reasonably satisfying, the boss encounters have been improved, but what is fundamentally a great horror game is partially undermined by the over-the-top sound design, injection of jump scares, and general lack of restraint.
Does a good job of making the series feel relevant in a way it hasn't for years.
Remaking one of the most revered horror games ever is no simple task, but Bloober Team impressively rebottles the magic of the 2001 genre landmark.
Bloober Team… You made me happy, and after playing Silent Hill 2, I am eager to see what the studio does alongside Konami in future. Perhaps a Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 3 remake isn’t such a bad idea, after all…
The remake will not have the same impact as the original, but it's still a worthwhile game for newcomers and old fans alike.
A loving remake of a true horror great, Silent Hill 2 is creepy, a little too bloated and confusing, but hot dang does it feel good to shotgun monsters that look too X-rated for the "Terrifier" movies. But It's a shame the PC version disappoints.
A good-looking and unflinchingly loyal remake of the beloved 2001 horror game, yet one that plays everything safe.
Silent Hill 2 is a masterclass in how to remake a horror classic, featuring clever puzzles, stunning visuals, and exceptional sound design.
The Silent Hill 2 Remake is a masterclass in psychological horror with an unforgettable atmosphere. The improved graphics, acting, and soundtrack create an authentically horrifying experience that brings pride to the original. Despite some performance issues, new and veteran fans will genuinely love the Silent Hill 2 Remake — it's absolutely stellar.
Silent Hill 2 Remake successfully brings Konami's classic to the current generation. A faithful return, spiced up with the changes that were needed to bring the experience up to current gameplay standards. A perfect excuse to relive James story and a fantastic treat for those who are experiencing it for the first time.

Silent Hill 2 Remake sets a new golden standard when it comes to remakes. The story is carried over completely intact, honoring the original narrative while adding depth where appropriate. I absolutely loved exploring the expansive, redesigned environments, which are more immersive and atmospheric than ever before. The enhanced graphics and excellent sound design contribute to an experience that is both haunting and beautiful.
Silent Hill 2 is a fantastic remake of a true classic, Bloober Team putting their own spin on the iconic horror game. That being said, enough of rough edges remain that could put some players off – ironically the same rough edges that make it so successful for me. These echoes of some of the less positive aspects of the original game, as well as some performance issues on console, are the only negatives in a game that more than does service to the legacy of Silent Hill.
Some restraint when it came to the length of the remake would have done wonders. But aside from the needless bloat and technical problems, there’s still a lot to like. Remaking Silent Hill 2 could have gone horribly wrong, and maybe this modernization won’t replace the original for some, but it’s at least a worthwhile new perspective.
From chilling environments and grotesque creatures to improved characters, puzzles, and combat, Bloober Team hits the bullseye with this impressive remake.
Silent Hill 2's remake is a faithful tribute to a horror classic that hardly holds anything back.
An excellent remake that does all it can to bring the classic original into the modern era, while maintaining the same nuanced levels of psychological horror.
