My Lovely Empress Reviews
My Lovely Empress offers an interesting mix of mechanics. Making sure the empire is growing and all classes are satisfied is pretty hard, even when bonds with the Yaoguai are strong. On top of that players need to woo neighboring rulers and decide how to best go about the complex task of bringing the empress back to life.
If you’ve wanted something more involved than Two Kingdoms, but not as complex as Nobunaga’s Ambition, My Lovely Empress is a wonderfully ranged title that asks players to divide their hearts and their heads to the extreme. To rule but also to seek out your own happiness, however twisted it may be. It may not be perfect, but it’s memorable in a big way. There’s no easy or clean solution to this game, but, for players willing to go on a dark journey, the way ahead is certainly interesting, and the greatest curse of all may be for an emperor – and his unfortunate people – to live in interesting times.
With My Lovely Empress, GameChanger Studio even tries to subvert the formula of My Lovely Wife and My Lovely Daughter by bringing greater complexity to the product, but even the technical advances are not enough to remedy the lack of consistency in the execution of the proposals of the title delivered, which does have an interesting story, but the stress of depending too much on a tiring gameplay cycle and other random factors will only be valid for very specific niches of strategy game fans. The predecessors may be simpler and easier, but even as repetitive as this one, they certainly offer much more entertainment.

I was fascinated by My Lovely Empress during my first run, when I tried to avoid bloodshed. I was shocked the second time when I stopped trying to be nice.
My Lovely Empress was a journey of discovery for me as a newcomer to both management and dating sims. The game challenged my strategic thinking, tested my patience, and ultimately rewarded my efforts with a richly immersive experience that even a beginner like me could appreciate. Its blend of mythological depth, intricate faction management, and supernatural elements creates a unique atmosphere that draws you in, even if the gameplay can feel overwhelming at first. The learning curve is steep, but the game’s intuitive design and captivating story make it accessible to those willing to dive in.
