Mostrocopy is a fun diversion and freak side-show at best. It’s basic but makes up for it with flair and personality. There needs to be more to do in it. For its price, it’s a fair exchange, but if it stays as an intensely austere experience, then it’s a tough recommendation for anyone serious about fighting games or party games.

Mostrocopy is the fighting game equivalent of a bargain-bin DVD compilation a janky, thoughtless collage of better games’ ideas. Only for the truly desperate.

Mostroscopy is a fun indie fighting game, with a very interesting art style and great character design. Every character is unique, and the simple combat system allows even newbies to fighting games to pick up a controller and combo like a pro. It has some rough edges, but it is a good start to something that has the potential to be great. It lacks in main single player content, and has a handful of smaller issues, but it is still a fun game to sit down and play with friends. If the developers continue to expand upon the game, then the series can easily have a bright future.

Mostroscopy is one of the most random games I've played in recent times. It has the look and soul of an independent project, with limited gameplay and questionable presentation, but it still manages to be fun. Its unique aesthetics and cultural references are charming in their own right, even if they're exaggerated. Not everything works: the lack of balance, the translation issues, the weak soundtrack and the disjointed story may put off many players. But there's something special here – a sincere effort to create something different. And that deserves recognition.
