As the levels grew, I remembered how much fun my wife had with the original, and I found myself caught up anew in this great new version.

Plants vs. Zombies Replanted is an excellent opportunity to catch up on the cult game or indulge in nostalgia. With its unique charm and simple but addictive gameplay, the epic duel between the undead and greenery is still compelling today. The colorful comic graphics in HD are also perfect for the Switch 2, but compared to the original, they're not a huge revelation. The water, for example, looks quite washed out. The Replanted version also adds some nice extras to the original game and lets us play together or against each other on the Switch with two Joy Cons, the former even within the campaign. The whole thing is a lot of fun, but it doesn't always feel like it's been thought through 100%, as it can get a bit chaotic and confusing. Replanted also introduces a permadeath mode after completing the campaign, as well as a new weather condition, Cloudy Day, which moves between day and night – both useful additions for those who already know the game and want new aspects. All in all, the re-released debut of the Plants vs. Zombies series really won us over and proved once again that there are simply some games that are just as much fun now as they were years ago.

After jumping back into the Plants vs. Zombies world, I can safely say this is my favorite way to play the franchise, classic tower-defense style gameplay loop. Not third person shooting or open worlds, just six lanes, some plants and some zombies. An argue can be had to whether we needed this as there are older GOTY editions, but I can’t lie and say I wasn’t excited to earn new achievements for it again. There is a little bit of new content but all in all this is just another repackaging of PvZ which if you’ve never played before … I definitely recommend it.

Overall, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is a solid way to revisit a classic. The new visuals look great overall, the bonus levels are fun little experiments, and co-op is engaging. Versus mode clearly needs some balancing, and there are enough technical issues that hinder the fun. Hopefully, these issues will be resolved with some patches, as Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted really feels at home on the Switch 2.

This is the most complete and definitive version of the classic, integrating all the features of previous editions, including the cooperative campaign mode and turbo mode. However, this return of Plants vs. Zombies clearly lacks polish. The experience is hampered by some visual and gameplay glitches. Furthermore, the attempt to modernize the title loses its purpose due to the lack of online multiplayer support, which anchors the remaster to the past. Nevertheless, new players will find Transplanted an ideal starting point to experience the 2009 classic. It's a shame that this beloved game is marred by rushed development and questionable use of development tools. It's worth noting that 16 years later, the gameplay and heart of Plants vs. Zombies remains incredibly addictive and entertaining.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is a happy reminder of how timeless PopCap’s design theory is. At its worst, it shows how remasters can lose the magic of the land where they were set in the first place.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted doesn't change anything, and it doesn't have to. It's a love letter to one of the best strategy games ever made, remade with care and just enough newness to make it feel like it matters again. It's not perfect; the graphics aren't consistent, and the remake isn't quite right.

Replanted serves as an excellent introduction for new fans, as it consolidates the best content from previous iterations and enhances it for modern televisions, while also introducing an enjoyable two-player co-op mode. However, it lacks originality and surprisingly introduces several flaws that will be readily apparent to long-time fans of the franchise.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted will fulfil your dosage of tower defence itch. For long-time fans of the series, the new HD graphics overhaul might be a game-changer, but for new players, you can opt for the classic title for a lower cost and not miss out on any action the game has to offer.

Plants Vs Zombies: Replanted is good, but not quite what I was expecting. I expected Plants Vs Zombies Replanted to be polished within an inch of its undead, creepy, brain chewing ways. Unfortunately, my expectations were not entirely served. Yes, the HD graphics are attractive, but I cannot overlook the minor issues. Additionally, changing the audio is unforgivable. Accordingly, it should have been better, but it is still worth buying your copy from the Xbox store!

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is… fine, for the most part. If you’re not a purist, and can accept a few occasional glitches, it’s a decent way to experience a classic. But the very few improvements don’t quite offset the game’s increased price, nor its technical and design woes.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is a faithful, nostalgic port that succeeds on the strength of its core cult classic gameplay and the excellent addition of local multiplayer and co-op support. However, the experience is hindered by repetitive late-game content and a poorly scaled, un-modernized UI that makes text nearly unreadable on a large-screen television.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted has been a really fun way to play PvZ once again in a package that is a solid improvement over the original PC version in most ways, but it has enough flaws in the controls and audio that keeps it from being a perfect upgrade for old fans and new players.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is a solid return for the series that mostly does right by the original. The core gameplay still holds up, the added modes are fun, but inconsistent visuals, missing dynamic music, and a few technical hiccups keep it from being excellent.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted at its core is the same game you played 15 years ago, but with shortcuts in development, not consulting the original team, and foolish choices, we’re left with a product that’s barely better than the one you likely already own.
