Critic Reviews for Fading Serenades
Fading Serenades is a charming delivery game you can finish in an evening, leaving you wanting more. By the time you get to the end, it feels abrupt, and a little rushed, as the quests also become slightly repetitive. You're left wondering more about the neighbors you spent the game delivering for. Still, for a solo-developed game, it's very impressive. If you're looking for something short, cozy, and enjoy the delivery gameplay loop, Fading Serenades serves it well.
Fading Serenades is a nice, chill courier game on a nice little island where life is pretty laid back. But there are hints of something more sinister that the story explores in a bit of detail, but not enough. The game can get repetitive quite quickly, but it looks and sounds good.
Fading Serenades gracefully does not shy away from contemporary issues. It wraps the conversations we’re having daily about pollution, AI, and human connection in a candy-coated treat. The art direction, music, and general moment-to-moment play never cease to tire the player. However, optimising routes through fetch quests made the world go stale quickly.
Fading Serenades is a cute and cosy delivery game, but the repetitive gameplay and constant back and forth across the map made me want to return it to sender.
Does Fading Serenades deliver a cosy experience, or will the music of the island fade like a half-remembered dream? Faded Serenades is a game that has a lot of potential to be something more; the ideas are there, but the island just isn’t big enough to take this game from a short burst of relaxation to a full relaxing retreat.
Fading Serenades is an enjoyable little bite-sized experience, but it quickly becomes quite repetitive, and its higher price doesn’t do it any favors either. Still, it offers a few reasons why it might be worth giving a chance—especially when it’s on sale.
