The first installment of the Halo series is considered the jewel made by Xbox and the primary reason for Xbox's success. What this legendary entry truly deserved was a remake worthy of the game's historical status, and to fulfill this entitlement, Halo Campaign Evolved was released. It preserved the spirit of the original game while bringing improvements to the narrative style, environment design, vehicle handling, along with high quality in gameplay and graphics, the addition of usable weapons, and extra missions to pave the way for the game's story. However, the game was flawed by some issues such as repetitive level design in indoor areas, technical issues, and problems in cinematic cutscenes.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is an honest remake that updates Halo without losing its soul. The strong combat, meaningful new content, and excellent replayability outweigh the handful of technical issues and minor design inconsistencies.
It was a daring gamble to offer the Xbox community a campaign of a Halo released at the beginning of the 21st century, but it must be admitted that the result is convincing. The developers managed to keep the Halo spirit while improving the pace and mechanics of the game, keeping intact the pleasure of being able to rediscover the game at 2 locally, even more via online gaming. It lacks the PvP in multi, but otherwise everything is there for the new and the old of the old.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a fantastic PS5 introduction to Master Chief and a rewarding return for longtime fans. I loved its focused science-fiction story with expanded content, pulse-pounding firefights, all-new gameplay, and detailed Unreal Engine 5 presentation. Halo Studios has created an excellent way to revisit the series' origin, and PlayStation gamers now have a strong reason to finally join up with Master Chief on the ring.
Halo: Campaign Evolved generally delivers on its promise as a love letter to longtime fans and a gateway for newcomers. Its expanded missions, cinematic presentation, and modern mechanics breathe new life into a 25‑year‑old classic. It is surreal to see the game launch on the PS5, and whether this is the first and last Halo title on PlayStation has yet to be determined, but it is still historic nonetheless.
Halo: Campaign Evolved rebuilds a legend with impressive technology, but the original remains more convincing whenever design matters more than detail.
Does Halo: Campaign Evolved come close to the original; in other words, does it deserve five stars? No, let’s not kid ourselves about that. The more important question is this: Is Halo: Campaign Evolved a worthy addition to the franchise? If you can look past certain questionable design choices, the answer is a resounding “yes.”

Halo Campaign Evolved offers a new, definitive way to enjoy the initial Halo Campaign. Complete with staggeringly crisp visuals, smooth gunplay, and welcome QoL changes. But critically, leaves pretty much everything else about the glorious campaign alone, making for a nostalgic affair that transports you right back to 2001.
While I still love the flow, pacing, and the health packs of the original, since that is my main source of memories and nostalgia, I feel this is a better option for those just now getting into it. It really cemented this opinion for me when my son was gushing over the details in this game that weren’t present in the original, like being able to hijack. Is it perfect? No, there are some things that need to be ironed out because of bugs and some odd settings, but overall this is a great nostalgic trip for older fans and a great entry point for newer fans.
