Owlboy Reviews
Owlboy fantastic, fun game filled with clever battles, collectibles, and plenty of secrets. While its ending is lackluster, the journey there is well worth it nevertheless.
Don’t let its old-school look fool you. Owlboy is a game that is excellent regardless of the time period thanks to great gameplay, a compelling story and characters that will make you care.
An utterly beguiling journey from beginning to end: surprising, moving, and accompanied by a near-perfect soundtrack.
Take a break, relax with Toby at the hot springs; camp out with the party and chat, then wake up to a rising sun and lively tunes; or cross paths with a fancy fish in the strangest place. It is a title to enjoy and blow off some steam, so forget about hardcore challenges if you want to give this tale a go.
It was worth the nine year wait
In development for nearly a decade, Owlboy has somehow managed to get every single thing right. From amazing storytelling to great characters, detailed pixel-art visuals to fluent gameplay, everything in this game is just the way it should be. Easily one of the best 2D platformers ever.

Beautifully crafted adventure game. Some of the best pixel graphics to come out as of late and with a fantastic soundtrack to match.
The warm atmosphere of the fairy tale, reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki's movies and Team ICO's games, great gameplay in the best traditions of classics from Nintendo and a stunning soundtrack make Owlboy one of the most interesting independent projects in the gaming industry of recent years.

Fortunately on top of that, the gameplay is also sound, delivering a nice puzzle platforming experience with a wealth of variety and distinctive elements. That being said, the Switch version is rough around the edges right now. It's still possible to play through and enjoy, but it might be worth holding out for the patch (or even the physical version in May).
Owlboy is a three-pronged attack of success: the gameplay is tight, satisfying, and remains fresh throughout; the game's world is visually stunning thanks to some truly masterful pixel art; and you'll find yourself really caring about the cast of characters and the world surrounding them thanks to a compelling storyline and background lore. The game could be improved with the inclusion of map to aid exploration, but when that is the only real thing we can pick at as a negative point it is clear that we're on to a winner. This is a game that is absolutely worth your time; if anything we've mentioned above has you even remotely intrigued by this game, we urge you to consider giving it a go.
The Switch version of Owlboy is as good as the PC one, which means that we're in presence of a quasi-masterpiece: the ingredients are a touching story, a varied and funny gameplay and an outstanding presentation. if only it was a little shorter, it didn't have to reuse puzzles and ideas.

Owlboy is a game which invokes many emotions due to its fabulous musical score, inviting visuals and a story which gets better with time as you get to know the characters. It's not the biggest challenge you will face and most will be able to complete the game without issue. The key here is the experience and on that count, this should be a game you consider to add to your collection.
As it was in 2016, D-Pad Studios has crafted an excellent adventure that should be played by all. If you’ve already experienced Owlboy on another platform, there’s nothing here you haven’t yet seen. But if, like me, you never did play it before – now is the perfect time to experience one of the best indie adventures in modern memory.
Overall I had a fabulous time playing through Owlboy, and the fact that it surprised me with some regularity was a huge bonus. While most indie titles tend to move in the direction of a very specific style of play it manages to be a little more diverse, helping it stand out among its peers beyond its good looks. Throw on a non-traditional story and hero and you have a game that doesn’t get everything right but that, without question, invested a great deal of effort in being notable.
9 years in development and expectations were high when Owlboy came out; and it didn't disappoint. While gameplay is very classic and simple and story doesn't have lots to say, visuals and music are where the game really shines. Easily one of the best platformers of the year, if not ever.

A superbly crafted 2D adventure that is a near perfect blend of new and old influences, in terms of both gameplay and the stunning visuals and music.
From the built-in mythology, character animations, well-written dialogue, tight controls, and a handful of plot twists, Owlboy does just about everything right.
One of the greatest indie game of the last few years has arrived to consoles. A great Metroidvania with awesome art and pretty good game mechanics. A very intense story with all types of incredible moments.

Owlboy succeeded in garnering elements from beloved classic games while adding its own touch. At the same time the game's cast of characters and its gorgeous art style made it unique.

Owlboy arrives on Nintendo Switch (and PS4 y Xbox One) retaining all its charm and beautiful pixel art that make it an indie hit in 2016. It's a nice adventure that shines in its characters and writing, but if fells short in playing time, collectibles and use of the world. At least, you can now enjoy this little gem anyewhere.
