Seeing as there are plenty of games in the same genre appearing on Nintendo's new console and how League of Evil doesn't feature anything that makes it groundbreaking, this ends up being a game that won't cause a significant impact on most players.

League of Evil has its faults, but it more than makes up for them through its robust and accessible level editor. While it's a six year port that shows its age, it's still a great way to get your twitch-reflex platformer fix.

At its best, League of Evil is a simple but challenging ride suited to short bursts of play. One that controls exceptionally, but struggles to fully amaze where its peers do so elsewhere.

As a fun distraction on your mobile device on a bus or train journey, League of Evil works well. However, it does not lend itself particularly well to a console port that you will find yourself longing to play for any significant amount of time

All in all League of Evil is a very hard but ultimately just simply okay platformer.

League of Evil does somewhat scratch that itch for challenging 2D platforming, but it does the bare minimum to do so. The gameplay is as minimalistic as it gets to the point that it hurts more than helps, and the graphics makes it too obvious that this is originally an iOS game with some years on its neck. While it has a neat level editor, it does not solve the too basic gameplay, and there are far better options out there for people pining for a challenging 2D platformer.

League of Evil is a very fun and addictive 2D platforming release on Nintendo Switch. It's pixel art graphics are bright and colorful, it's gameplay is solid and controls work flawlessly, and the music is a great complement to the action. I'm happy that Ratalaika Games decided to bring us this one on Nintendo Switch, and I look forward to checking out what they do next for Nintendo's console.

It saddens me to say that League of Evil is just a simple platformer game and not much more.

League of Evil is a simplistic 2D platformer that's clearly inspired by Super Meat Boy.

League of Evil looks and feels like a mobile game, but it’s competitively priced and offers a lot of replay value.

I can't generate much excitement for League of Evil when there are so many better games already on the system. Even without a classic Nintendo platformer in the mix the action/platforming genre has strong competition and the list of known titles coming to the Switch just this year will bring even more. I wouldn't say that League of Evil is impossible to enjoy, different things appeal to different people. However, since the control on the Switch continues to feel as loose and imprecise as a mobile game I'd say if you're interested in the game you should first invest in it in that space since it is so inexpensive there. If you really can't get enough of it, want more, and would like to try your hand at creating your own levels then by all means pick it up on the Switch to further explore and expand your experience. League of Evil isn't without merit but in this case it hasn't shaken off enough of its mobile roots to clearly make it worth recommending on the Switch specifically.

League of Evil is a fun little game and still satisfies that craving that it set out to do several years ago. It doesn't quite have the personality and flair that Slime-san possesses and even back in the day it was never in the same league as Super Meat Boy, but it does have its own little charm and style. There's still plenty of addictive fun to be had that will certainly test your skills and patience. Add that with the added cross-play level editor and you're unlikely to run out of challenges as long as the community keeps the creativity alive.
