Critic Reviews for The Exorcist: Legion VR

The Exorcist: Legion VR launches at a perfect time, near Halloween. While the adventure may be incredibly short, it is one that groups may enjoy, to see how others react to the horrors that await within. However, much like a scary movie or haunted house, once you know where the scares are located, they don't have the same oomph as the first time through. With variability all but removed, the replayability of Legion VR dwindles rapidly. Despite this, horror fans should check out The Exorcist: Legion VR for some of the most intense, if brief, scares available on any medium.

Fun Train has delivered a game that, for a franchise title, is surprising in its quality. Though there are some minor technical hiccups, content-wise, this game stands with the best offerings of its legendary franchise. It is often said that The Exorcist is the scariest film ever produced. The Exorcist: Legion VR is scarier.

By alternating between quiet mood-building moments and "Did I just see that?" religious horrors, The Exorcist: Legion VR delivers chills that are every bit up to the standards of the franchise.

All in all, The Exorcist: Legion VR is an incredibly enjoyable, but short VR experience that shows off just how much fun VR horror can be with proper sound design and attention to detail. You may not want to play this game over and over again, but for a short, five chapter horror story it's undeniably engaging, and more importantly, scary as hell.

The horror genre gets serious in VR as you face the world of exorcisms and evil.

The Exorcist: Legion VR is easily one of the more effective horror games on the platform to date. Its reliance on relative unease rather than jump-scares makes it stand out from other horror games on the platform, while the number of challenging puzzles gives the title some real substance. While there's no doubt that more effective horror games can hit VR in the near future, The Exorcist is one of the better ones that you can find today.

The Exorcist: Legion VR is the scariest game of the year so far on PS4/PSVR. The developers have gone above and beyond and delivered a game which not only achieved what it set out to do (scare the pants off you) but it also looks amazing in the process as well. I’m not a fan of the clunky control scheme and the blinders are something I would like to see less of (pun intended) due to the fact a large majority of us don’t get motion sick and would rather play the game with no restrictions.
