God of War Reviews
A top-to-bottom revamp of the whole God Of War franchise that matches thrilling, if slightly shallow, combat and exploration with some impressively trenchant storytelling.
Whether you're revisiting the frozen Norse realm or diving into Kratos and Atreus' journey for the first time, there's never been a better way to experience this epic tale.
I get the sense that SIE Santa Monica Studio, with some bold changes worth applause, has set out on the right path toward maturing this iconic franchise.
God of War has seen considerable changes from previous games in the series, but they almost all feel like they were for the better.
God of War is an epic reboot of an epic franchise. The evolution of Kratos could have gone horribly wrong. Instead, Santa Monica Studio has given the franchise the treatment it deserves. This new narrative tone has heart, and serves to make Kratos much more relatable in his new role as protector, while remaining as brutal as past installments. Reworked and improved combat options make for an enjoyable and customizable experience, and phenomenal audiovisual performance ensures that each trip to the mythical lands before the Vikings is a wonderfully grisly experience. God of War is a must-buy experience well worth the wait.
With a surprisingly heartfelt story, witty and memorable characters, restlessly satisfying combat, in an expansive and well-optimized hand-crafted world - simply put, God of War is a must-play game.
Even if you’ve played God Of War on the PS4, it’s more than worth going back for another trip up the mountain.
One of the most gorgeous, spectacular and impactful blockbusters of the generation
Kratos returns older and wiser, but exhilaratingly brutal in a story that deftly intertwines family drama and mythological epic
God Of War on PC is unsurprisingly the same amazing game it was on PS4 back in 2018, although its pain points are more blatant years later. The visuals, narrative and stunning experience however do not disappoint and remain as impactful as they've always been. It also helps that this is so far, Sony's best port to PC in terms of optimization. This is well worth picking up, whether or not it is your first time.
While picking this up may not be worth it for those who own the PS5 version, for those who played it on PS4 the PC port is a visual feast, it offers significant improvements over this already legendry title and the definitive way to play God of War.
Whether you are a lover of the original series or new gods of war, it does not matter: give it a chance, you will hardly regret it.

If you don’t own any PlayStation consoles and this is your first chance to play God of War, then this is your call to action. It’s worth it: there’s a reason everyone was obsessed with this game. God of War lives up to the hype, and it hasn’t aged since its release. All the reasons God of War was so good the first time around haven’t gone anywhere.
God of War’s PC port is a must-have for fans of games with seamless combat and gorgeous graphics. Kratos’ story and character development as a father and mourning husband presents players with a heartbreakingly beautiful tale accompanied by vivid depictions of Norse mythology. Its visuals create immersive arenas to battle the living and the undead in over 40 hours of story gameplay. Whether fans are experiencing God of War for the first time or are weathered veterans of the franchise, nearly everyone can enjoy God of War’s PC port.
It's been worth the wait.
This new chapter in the hack and slash franchise freshens up the gameplay for a thrilling experience that will please fans
God of War ticks all the boxes; it looks stunning, combat is satisfying, offers an emotionally gripping campaign and a variety of things to do once you've completed the main story. While some fans of the series may be worried about the overhaul of the franchise, we think it was a great idea and we really can't wait for the next in the series – whenever that might be.
