Yoku's Island Express Reviews
As has become tradition on Nintendo consoles, Yoku's is an indie title that stands on level footing with some premium offerings in the eShop. Don't let this one roll past you as you scroll through the different games on offer for Switch, as it's a genuine delight.
Yoku's Island Express is a very fun pinball/Metroidvania that you should check out on Nintendo Switch. The colorful art style and the great level design, mixed with the pinball mechanics and the Metroidvania side of things, make this a very entertaining release that everyone can enjoy, even those who are not a fan of full-on pinball games. Villa Gorilla HAS certainly found a creative way of presenting a new type of game, and one I'm sure you're going to like.
Yoku's Island Express innovates by combining pinball mechanics to platform and metroidvania genres, blending them in a unique and fun way. Despite focusing too much on pinball and having few moments of action (that, when occur, are well-made and creative), the game has an interesting story and a dazzling world to be explored.

Yoku’s Island Express is an incredibly fun and exceptionally beautiful game that somehow makes pinball fun. It offers a large variety of locations and has plenty of collectibles that will keep you occupied for a good amount of time.
Unusual pinball adventure in Yoku's open world with nice level design for players who love physics-based platformers and metroidvania.

For the most part though, Yoku's Island Express is a lot of wholesome, whimsical fun. It manages to make the hybrid of two disparate genres work in some inspired ways, and the result is a unique game full of surprises that is sure to delight players.
For everyone out there who has been beaten down by the relentless pursuit of thrills and high scores, Yoku's Island Express is going to feel very refreshing. It's a charming vacation filled with beautiful locales. Taking the time to explore everything is highly recommended. The emphasis on pinball lends the game a superbly-realised identity. Utilising an array of bumpers and flippers to get around is somehow more fulfilling than tapping a jump button repeatedly. Altogether, this is a worthwhile venture for anyone who needs a break.
Yoku's Island Express is far from bad. It has great ideas, a very good soundtrack, and competent gameplay. But while there's not too much actively wrong with it, it doesn't do anything exceptionally well either. It'll do.
Yoku's Island Express is the best indie game that I've played this year so far.
Yoku’s Island Express is beautifully charming in story, gameplay and visually. The blend of pinball and platformer mechanics are a fantastic mix and leave nothing more to desire from the gameplay experience. Don’t miss out on this!
Yoku's Island Express is a very original title that combines two popular genres of video games. In addition to that audiovisual is very beautiful. It takes a little more time and more difficulty, but that is not enough to stop it from being a very enjoyable game.

Even if you aren’t a fan of the pinball genre, you will want to give this a try. It’s action gameplay, open world exploration, and platforming sections brought together in a wonderful and fun package. This is a game you can sit back and relax while enjoying the melodic music playing. You won’t find yourself so frustrated that you are raging and you won’t find that you have a game that will be completed in an hour. It truly is the best combination of mechanics and the best way to get those wary of the pinball mechanics to ease up and open their minds. This game is definitely a must have on your list of games.
I never expected to be so enamored with a pinball adventure game, but here we are! Yoku’s Island Express combines fantastic visuals, sublime audio, and addicting gameplay mechanics to create a truly spectacular Switch experience. Pick this one up – it’s something special!
The art, music, exploration, and quests all make for a very enjoyable game, and the pinball concept is novel enough to distinguish the game from other members of the genre. The bosses and a large number of underwhelming upgrades don’t manage to overshadow what the game does well. While I found the pinball mechanics frustrating, your mileage may vary depending on your skill at pinball, and I still believe Yoku’s Island Express is worth a look in spite of this.
Yoku's Island Express is the perfect combination of your favourite Metroidvania game, a watercolour painting and pinball. The majority of your time within the game will be spent flying around the screen as you furiously try and make it through all of the pinball-based enclosed areas, areas which never repeat, never get old, and never overstay their welcome. The rest of your time will be spent interacting with all of the lovable characters, experiencing the humour of the writing, collecting items, and delivering mail. Not bad for the first day on the job for our young protagonist!
As you watch Yoku’s ball fling the dung beetle helplessly across Mokumana Island for the hundredth time, it’s hard not to come to the realisation that Yoku’s Island Express is a rare and special treat.
If you like pinball and adventure this is a must buy. Even for those wanting a new experience I can easily recommend this charming and beautiful game.
Yoku's Island Express is a wondrous adventure that blends the Metroidvania genre and pinball in a satisfying way. This is one title to keep your eye on, even for those thinking that pinball is not for them as it certainly won me over.
Yoku's Island Express delivers on an idea of pinball for platforming and doesn't ever veer too far off course. Great graphics and catchy tunes will keep you playing, even if the game sometimes puts you in a table that feels impossible.
