The target audience for this product are either shameless zealots or complete newcomers. Given that there is no other legitimate source to play both games on a current generation console, either group will ultimately end up satisfied. However, if you are looking for fan service, you'll be gravely disappointed. Imagine that: Konami phoning something in? Why does that sound so familiar?

In an era of excellent re-releases and remakes, Castlevania Requiem feels like a massively missed opportunity to bring two of the franchise's best games back into the limelight.

Castlevania Requiem is an easy and inexpensive way to play two of the best video game ever made; however, these games deserve a far more comprehensive package than what has been built here.

I think any fan of these two games can't really ask for anything more considering both games have been perfectly ported, in full high-definition, to PlayStation 4. The added trophies are nice, and the games basically feel just as they did all those years ago – they just look way crisper now. I really can't recommend this package enough, if only it had a physical release too.

It is a shame that there was not much effort spent on bringing back two of these classic Castlevania games to the current generation. Despite the dated look, they are still fascinating to play thanks to the masterfully crafted level design and an engrossing story.

Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night are both indisputably masterpieces, but the versions included in this collection are direct ports of the original games. On the side of graphic and technical presentation we expected something more.

Overall, Castlevania Requiem is an excellent collection of two very important as well as very different Castlevania games. If you have enjoyed the recent Netflix series and don't know much about the games it is based off, then this is probably the perfect collection to get to grips with the saga.

Each of the games does have their own flaws, but they mostly arise from being older games seen through the eyes of someone much more used to modern titles. With this in mind, it was easy to overlook them and have a great time playing through them, despite occasionally scaring my cat when I yelled after dying for the 100th time in Rondo of Blood.

Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood will have some appeal with nostalgic fans wanting to replay the game on the PlayStation 4. The lack of new features may disappoint them though. Those who are new to Castlevania, or with little interest in the series, won’t gain the disappointment I felt in regards to the voices – yet they also may not thoroughly enjoy the old-school mechanics when there are much better modern games out there which look and play much better. It’s still a decent addition to the PS4 library but will leave old fans wishing that more love and attention was put into the remaster.

Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood does the bare minimum, but it's still well worth playing. While there are no extras included in this anthology, the two games it contains are some of the best ever made, and one of them has been pretty difficult to come by until now. Aside from the replacement of Symphony of the Night's wonderfully campy voice acting, both games are delivered in perfect shape and are still as worth playing today as they've ever been.

A lazy version of two exceptional titles. The insufficient level of the remastered fights with the extremely high value of the content.

Requiem is a poor collection, without relevant extras and permeated by technical problems. The drawbacks should displease enthusiasts of the series, however the two games are perfectly playable. In short, the port is bad, but the games are great. If Castlevania is an important series for you, it is worth revisiting in order to secure that special platinum trophy on your gamer resume.

Both games are tough as nails with Rondo of the Blood being extremely challenging and Symphony of the Night being a masterpiece of 2D side scrolling adventuring. Konami could have included a range of optional extras to the Requiem package such as concept artwork or some developer diaries or commentary but overall, given the price point and what you’re getting, PS4 gamers should be pleased with the title. Two of the greatest 2D side scrolling adventures have been brought back for the modern era and speed-runners, retro game fans and those that love challenges will find themselves enjoying both these games for hours on end.

For die-hard fans of the series, there is nothing new to be found here, but for those who never had a chance to get their hands on any of the Castlevania titles, this collection would be a perfect start to enter the Castlevania world.
