Modern additions to the classic Resident Evil formula have made Resident Evil 2 an excellent remake although I am a little disappointed with how the 2nd Run campaigns are handled.

Resident Evil 2 is not just a fantastic remake, it’s a very good horror game in its own right. The atmosphere, voice acting and sound design are outstanding, with each environment set up to maximise the horror. The story can be completed in around 8 hours or so but the different play modes and separate storyline for Claire gives you incentive to play through this one again to experience the whole story. It’s worth doing too and with no microtransactions, loot boxes or free to play mechanics in sight, Capcom have delivered a refreshingly straight forward game, one that’s easily up there with one of the best of 2019.

Resident Evil 2 is an excellent remake of a horror classic. While the narrative shortcomings of the original game remain so does the inescapable menace of its atmosphere and the timeless horror which makes it so compellingly terrifying. Excellent combat and level design make it a pleasure to play while a multiple campaigns and modes make this definitive edition rich with content.

Since the release of Resident Evil 7, Capcom has been dedicated to returning the acclaimed series to its survival-horror roots. Resident Evil 2 2019 is a terrific addition to the survival-horror genre that modernizes the classic 1998 title while also capturing the original game's atmosphere with improved visuals and gameplay mechanics. There are some small flaws in the consistency of damage and the slow running speed but these are minor issues. Resident Evil 2 2019 is an experience that will have even the most veteran survival-horror fan trembling in fear.

The remake of Resident Evil 2 is the ultimate survival horror experience that takes Mikami’s successful formula and shapes it to greatness. Resident Evil 2 remake is so good that I personally hope that Capcom focuses more on remakes instead of making new RE titles.

Resident Evil 2 excels at putting the player in close quarters with things that will upset and unsettle them, always drawing them into ever more tense, disturbing fights.

Resident Evil 2 is a polished, respectful remake of a survival horror classic that probably would have benefitted from a slightly more daring approach. Hints of a braver revamp are sprinkled throughout, but it doesn't take the risks necessary to join the canon of truly great video game remakes. Make no mistake though, if you loved the original Resident Evil 2, you'll likely love the remake, and new players who can tolerate a few old-school quirks ought to have gruesome good time as well.

Finally, Capcom has put a lot of game into Resident Evil 2. It has four remixed campaigns — two each for the playable characters Leon and Claire. But Capcom has also revealed plans to add even more. That includes a mode that randomizes where items are as well as new player characters.

Resident Evil 2 Remake brings back the old horror and terror feel once again. It's remains as faithful as its old version and merging this with new technologies, audio and visual effects successfully.

Resident Evil 2 is fantastic. It's a reminder that there's still life in the old-school survival horror genre. Not everything has to be so action heavy and you can terrify the player without the need for cheap jump scares. (Even though Resident Evil 2 is guilty of that in a few places.) It's proof that you can still use some old tropes like keys and reusing previous areas without cheapening the experience. However, it might be a little on the short side for some.

Resident Evil 2 is certainly propped up by being a remake of an already excellent game, but it doesn't simply lean on that legacy. There's so much great work being done to revitalize the experience for a modern audience, and those efforts deserve to be experienced. Nostalgic fans already got their preorders, but for newcomers - you need to summon your courage, turn off all the lights, and let this game fill you with dread - because it's worth it.

Resident Evil 2 exceeds all expectations and shows how to handle a reissue of a classic like this. The new gameplay elements remove a bit of the tension from the original but deliver a solid modern experience with a lot of graphic tidbits for Fans of Survival Horror and Gore.

A tense, challenging, and beautiful remake of a classic survival horror game, and with enough fresh ideas to make it feel excitingly new.

Resident Evil 2 is a fantastic get for Game Pass, and the new port on the Microsoft Store is excellent.  It’s Play Anywhere, terrifying, and well worth checking out for anyone looking to clap some zombie cheeks.

Resident Evil 2 blends amazing graphics, great sound design and intimidating enemies to create a nerve wrecking horror experience. Capcom didn't forget the series' roots while modernizing as well: the hallmark of a great remake.

This version of Resident Evil 2 has far exceeded all my expectations. At the end of my 16 hour campaign with both Leon and Claire, I felt like I had just seen an old friend for the first time in years. A friend who has experienced many changes, but is still the same old person you knew years ago. What the 2002 remake of the first Resident Evil did for the original is multiplied tenfold in this remake. The remake of the original Resident Evil took huge leaps forward within one generation and took creative liberties by adding mechanics and story portions that enhanced the game. But in the end, it was still fundamentally the same game. This remake is still essentially the same game, but wholly different at the same time. In fact, it complements the original and you can put the two side by side and appreciate what each iteration does for the series. This game takes bold steps in recreating the story beats while keeping things fresh. Capcom ensured the story wouldn’t stray too far from the original, and while I knew what was going to happen to certain characters and events, the moments that lead up to one another created so many twists and turns that made me gasp and stare wide eyed at my screen. The gameplay meshes the old school along with the familiar third person shooting mechanics making traversing as smooth as butter and blasting away at enemies just as satisfying. So please, do yourself a favor and start off 2019 with a bang.

Capcom is back on track after the good vibes with Resident Evil 7. Technically excellent and playable very well except for some tweaks that could improve the gaming experience. I hope that on our next stop in Raccoon City we can help a former STARS member escape the city while being harassed by another big guy. But that's another story...

Resident Evil 2 will be the point of reference for the remakes in the years to come. Not only that, it will be one of the models to follow for the horror of the future, because this is not a simple makeover, it is a completely new game that improves the experience of the original work throughout. Finding weak points is really difficult: a story told to the great thanks to both aesthetic and content improvements, breathtaking graphics and gameplay that is the sum of classic horror combined with modernity that was asked for a remake.
