At its best, The Fisherman leaves you amped up from an intense fight with a river monster you’ve been trying to coax out of its hole for hours. At its worst, it feels like an attempt to quickly cash-in on work done for the freemium version that came before it.

The Fisherman – Fishing Planet is a tough sell for anyone who has poured time and money into their previously released free to play game, Fishing Planet. However, for newcomers to the series that want to jump in, The Fisherman – Fishing Planet is a good place to start with a reasonable asking price that offers some of the most authentic fishing experiences you can find.

Overall, once you get used to the nuances of the user interface, and managing your money, Fishing Planet is the best fishing simulation game out there. It has an extensive collection of fishing equipment, species of fish, and locations. The steep learning curve can be a deterrent, but fishing is all about having patience and fortitude.

My overall experience with the game was positive. Once again, it is very simulation-oriented. If you are into fishing in real life, this game was made for you. If you enjoy fishing games but aren’t as hardcore as the guys on the water week to week, I think you will still like the game as well. But if you are looking for a simple fishing experience, this is not your game.

The Fisherman Fishing Planet is by far one of the most in-depth video games I have ever played. The level of customization for your tools is amazing and the graphics and attention to detail for the fish is a sight to behold. But, the problem with the game is that it feels like the developers brought over a PC sensation for their PC followers.

It’s safe to say that The Fisherman – Fishing Planet is the best fishing game available on console. It packs in so much content that you could play it for tens of hours and still find enjoyment in going back for more. It’s mechanically sound, too, making the act of fishing engaging yet not overly complicated or gamey. If you’re a PC gamer who has already invested money into Fishing Planet, however, the new content on offer probably isn’t worth splashing the cash required for this complete edition.

Overall the game is relaxing I ended up falling asleep from the sounds of nature coming from the game twice. I had fun with this game after getting used to it and will defiantly come back to play more when I need a break from all the violent games out there. A downside to this game is it requires an internet connection. The Fisherman is one of the best fishing sims on the market today but may not be for casual fisherman looking for an arcade fishing game.

Over 100 fish and fishing spots all over the world, you will enjoy the view of some of the most beautiful spots on this planet to cast your line. From all over the US to Italy, Netherlands and much, much more. In order to see these spots, you will need to complete missions and rank up in EXP. I also mentioned above that you'll need to buy licenses for all spots that you visit. It will cost in game currency, make sure to keep up with selling your fish at the end of the day.

The Fisherman – Fishing Planet is without doubt a game for the angling enthusiast but takes a decent stab at trying to lure a few more fans over to the pastime.

The Fisherman is a very enjoyable and relaxing game, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time playing it. As a new player, I can recommend it, for the initial purchase you get a lot of game for the money and the removal of the microtransactions and the reworked economy make for a much more enjoyable and relaxing game, which in my eyes a fishing game should be. If however, you’re a seasoned Fishing Planet player I can’t see it being a worthwhile purchase, If you’ve already invested 100’s of your own hours or more importantly money into the free game, it’s a lot to give up for reworked mechanics. I feel The Fisherman deserves the gold thumb award!
