It's got all the right ideas in there, but it's so timid in exploring any of them that it comes across as altogether too safe to be good horror. Reframing it as a creepy adventure game would have helped, but there too, there are the likes of Tokyo Dark that show just how far things can be pushed, and The Coma 2 would struggle in that framing too.

The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters offers an eerie and gruesome horror experience that doesn’t necessarily redefine the genre, but offers more than enough scares to keep gamers looking for some spooks hooked in. Sure, it is guilty of being a little repetitive in places, but the suspenseful showdowns with monsters and stellar visuals more than make up for it. If you’re looking for a slick horror fix on your Nintendo Switch, you certainly won’t want to miss out on The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters – ESPECIALLY if you enjoyed the previous game.

The survival horror adventure sub-genre hasn't had too many entries in it on Switch, but given the overall lack of horror games on the system I know many people have been tempted by them...

Overall, the world of The Coma 2 deserves a first hand expereince to truly engross oneself in it’s story. Unfortunately, the gameplay loop of The Coma 2 can sometimes feel a little repetitive, as many segments become a waiting game versus the Dark Song creature. Thankfully, the atmosphere never falters despite some weaker aspects.

As much as I like the world and story of The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters, as well as most of the gameplay, I can’t overlook how much it felt like the game was being padded with fetch quests and picky event triggers. I lasted eight hours on the first go, but had to keep taking breaks every 30-40 minutes or so because I could only do so much backtracking or scanning of every wall in every room for hints before needing to do something, anything else. For those with a higher tolerance for it, the $15 asking price (or about $23 for a deluxe bundle with the artbook, soundtrack and two DLC costumes) should be well worth it. After all, someone needs to help Mina out so she doesn’t have to settle for a disappointing B on her exams. Yes, really.

The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters is a great continuation of an interesting adventure that suffers from difficulty spikes and sudden attacks by monsters closer to the final chapter. Otherwise, this is a very exciting horror story with a fashionable Korean flavor.

Just hearing the high heel sounds, in The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters, absolutely terrified me and made it impossible to remain calm. There are moments when I simply didn’t want to come out of my hiding spot for fear that I’d run into the spooky enemy that was chasing poor Mina around the school. However, the point of playing a horror-themed game is to get scared, so in that respect, The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters perfectly fulfilled its purpose. The challenge here is to get past the traps and to find your way to the next quest, all whilst trying to avoid the enemy that is chasing after you; However, this simple premise isn’t an easy task as even hiding requires a QTE, and although they’re not too difficult, it’s very easy to mess it up. That being said, The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters is a terrifying continuation of The Coma universe that turned out to be even more enjoyable than its predecessor.

I went into The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters expecting nothing, but aside from the initial frustration I had with its combat elements, came away having enjoyed this nice little slice of K-horror a lot.

The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters is a terrifying, well-executed fusion of survival horror and adventure game sensibilities. The game is extremely tough, but also rewarding, and will forever create an association between the sound of high heels and danger.

The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters brings the series to a whole new level of quality. The adventure is tense and nervewracking as you are forced to utilize whatever tools you can find to avoid timely death. While the pacing of difficulty is a little off at times, there are more than enough items to get through the game.
