Expect an even further expansion on this from their live content team as the year progresses, but do so with the understanding that at some point, you’ll be required to spend on top of the $60 you invested on the game itself just to keep up with the pack.
FIFA 21 is an exercise of refinement, not evolution. The newest installment highlights the downsides of annualization, but also highlights that EA is listening to fans. FIFA 21 doesn't make a million changes and improvements from FIFA 20, but the changes and improvements it does make go a long way in enhancing the experience.
Stadia is battling with something as standard as FIFA 21, and that is honestly disturbing. It’s one more story of the greatest highs and the most minimal lows, and it spells further issues for the fate of the platform.
For the current generation, FIFA 21 is certainly a good title, although the potential was so much greater. Fortunately, Career Mode fans will be served at their beck and call this year, which was necessary after years of disappointment. The development of youth players has also improved a lot this year, although it is regrettable to see that elements such as the speed of players are still too big a factor for the core gameplay.

EA should think more about the situation with the current gen version of FIFA 21 and be more honest with its audience, as PES 2021 did and succeeded. Essential. Especially when asking for €60 and not €30. Hopes are now being dashed in the next-gen version of FIFA 21, where all development resources appear to have been spent.

“The beautiful game” is a phrase with a history that runs back to 1958. Football really has, for better or worse, the most passionate fans in the world. Those fans head out in their droves every year to buy the latest iteration of FIFA. Unsurprisingly FIFA holds the title for fastest selling sports franchise game series of all time. Every single year FIFA tends to face some harsh criticism. This is rightfully so when you consider last year’s Nintendo Switch offering reviewed by Harvey Fry here. The question is, do EA Sports really care about the gameplay and immersion into the football experience? Or, are they more focused on their bottom line, Ultimate Team micro-transactions and licenses? Well this year, I’m pleased to say comfortably, they’ve found a perfect balance of commerciality and customer experience.
FIFA 21 is not a bad game, but attitude of it's developers is bad. They are charging triple A prices for mediocre product, which is almost identical to it's preductor. Updated labels are just not worthy enough for buying.

FIFA 21 also sees the return of the VOLTA mode that was introduced in FIFA 20. VOLTA is the street football mode akin to the old FIFA Street games. My biggest criticism of VOLTA in FIFA 20 was the fact that it couldn’t be played online with friends. Thankfully, that has since been rectified in FIFA 20. VOLTA Squads allows you to play with up to three friends online. Modes range from 3v3 up to 5v5 and whilst it’s not my go-to mode, VOLTA offers something different and fun.
In conclusion, we cannot say that FIFA 21 brought the changes we expected, especially since last year we wrote that we are looking forward to its arrival in the new generation.

FIFA, to no one’s surprise, remains the kingpin of sports and FIFA 21 is the best this generation has seen. Providing you’re not playing on Switch, of course.

The big step forward remains missing but Fans of FIFA Ultimate Team will find a lot to love in this game. If you have waited for relevant new gameplay features, in Volta or the carreer mode, you should stick with the last two games.

There’s so much work to be done to make FIFA a viable contender again as a genuinely great sports game. The sad part is, I don’t think EA Sports really care anymore.
FIFA 21 is not a huge leap forward from last year’s iteration. It does, however, take some strides forward and while not all the new features add to the experience in my opinion (I’m looking at you agile dribbling), these can be turned off in the settings. I do hope we see more gameplay additions in the next-gen version though.
Everything that is delivered in this year’s release is a decent offering for those looking to essentially make the ‘upgrade’ from FIFA 20. A updated roster, with new features and some contextual upgrades applied makes FIFA 21, a valuable Football title for 2020.
FIFA 21 comes off as a straightforward update to last year’s game, with quality of life improvements that in any other game would have been implemented via a title update.
FIFA 21 does little to innovate and has almost no meaningful gameplay changes, making it little more than a roster update to FIFA 20 that most players could happily miss.
It’s beautiful and a lot of action for all sports lovers out there. As I’ve mentioned in the beginning of this review, FIFA 2021 is a true testament to every fan of the game in the world—and that’s hugely important for a sport well beloved.
Look, at the end of the day Fifa will sell regardless of review scores. There are incremental changes across the different games but this is largely the same package, designed to encourage seasoned players to settle in like a comfy, tatty, serviceable pair of shoes – even if those shoes are full of holes and barely stay on your feet. It doesn’t matter what score critics give Fifa 21. It could get a 1/10 from every publication and fans will still buy Fifa. However, it’s hard not to come away from this one disappointed.
FIFA 21 is a game I can recommend for you if you've been playing the series for a long time. But if you're not very familiar with the FIFA series and your new star is starting to match football games, I'm going to have to suggest cheaper games for you. Because with its high price, you only have to enter this game sold for "FIFA fans" without very high expectations, which is difficult at the current price. Fifa 21 promises you a pleasant long journey if football is an important part of your life. If you're thinking of playing FUT and moving faster, buy top versions of the game.
