Nintendo Is Now Seemingly Bricking Switch 2 Consoles Over User Buying Keys From Third-Party Sellers

Nintendo has been involved in a bit of backlash ever since the Switch 2 launched, mostly down to practices which many believe are anti-consumer. It started charging $80 for its games, the unpopular Game Key-Cards that are despised by everyone that still cares about video game preservation, and the scrapping of Game Vouchers.

One of the biggest problems that people have with the Switch 2 is Nintendo's ability to completely brick the system if it expects you've been up to something it deems naughty. For example, it was discovered shortly after release that Nintendo is able to brick your system if you use third-party cartridges, whether that be for legitimate reasons or for piracy.

It feels like an invasion of privacy, and kind of like you don't even own your own system at times, with Nintendo hovering over you, ready to drop the axe should you dare to step out of line. That feels especially true if a post from a Reddit user called Character-Insect-775 is to be believed, as they recently claimed that their Switch 2 was bricked shortly after they purchased and downloaded a game key from a third-party seller.
