Nintendo is reviving the Virtual Boy this month, one of the company's biggest flops. During its unexpected reveal at a Direct in 2025, the small print read that you will need the new companion accessories to play Virtual Boy games through NSO when the first batch drops on February 17, 2026. However, after selling out of both Virtual Boy access options, Nintendo has now revealed that you can just use your old Labo.
At least that's what Nintendo Treehouse staff member Corey Olcsvary told GamesBeat during one of the hands-on events. Olcsvary revealed that those who didn't manage to grab a $99.99 Virutal Boy recreation, or the $24.99 cardboard equivalent, can simply use a Labo VR to play the games if they have one lying around.
The employee claims that the Labo's Virtual Boy compatibility isn't a secret, and that Nintendo simply doesn't want to advertise it since you can no longer buy the cardboard kit that could be turned into all sorts of Switch accessories to then be used with various games.
