Cast of the Seven Godsends is a nice homage back to 2D arcade platformers. The story isn't that interesting, but the simplistic gameplay makes up for that. The varying attacks and Godsend abilities are fun, but without them, things can get rough.

Brakes are for Losers is an adequately fun time with friends if you've got four to eight people ready to play, but it unfortunately crashes into a wall with single-player content.

80 / 100 - Timberman Vs.
May 20, 2018

Timberman VS is a surprisingly solid party game that will keep you and your friends entertained for short bursts of time. Crank out the Joy-Con and get to chopping, because the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Horizon Chase Turbo is a fun and challenging racing game that harkens back to the old school arcade days. The collision system can be aggravating and dampen the fun as a result. The tracks aren't anything to rave about, but the environments have a bright, plucky charm to them. It has its share of flaws, but it is worth checking out if you need a quick racing fix.

85 / 100 - State of Decay 2
May 17, 2018

State of Decay 2 improves upon its predecessor in almost every way. Although the game still suffers from a host of bugs and lacks much of a focused narrative, it succeeds at being a tremendously enjoyable and addictive experience.

There are enough small grievances I have with the game that hold it back from being truly great, but the tone and setting are so charming that it's hard to be too mad at it. If you want to do some peaceful meandering during your commute, the Switch version is easy to recommend.

80 / 100 - Forgotton Anne
May 16, 2018

I think that anybody who wouldn't enjoy this game knows who they are. While I wouldn't put Forgotton Anne into the category of an essential for gamers of all types, I would easily recommend playing this game to basically anybody who would give it even a passing interest. It is the type of game that punches way above its weight, and it managed to surprise me. It's available today on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One, so if you're still reading this, give it a look.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux is as long and as the title, and can be challenging to get into, due to dated UI and lots and lots of text to read. The story is interesting, if not slow, offers multiple endings, and more than 300 demons for you to collect, fuse, and fight alongside. A solid, if not slightly clunky title built for the retrogamer crowd.

90 / 100 - Omensight
May 15, 2018

Omensight is an amazing twist on the "Groundhog Day" style storyline. Some thinking and planning is necessary, but The Witch makes this easier. The gameplay is fast, fluid, and very fun. It may seem repetitive to some, but slowly learning and altering the day is part of the journey.

75 / 100 - Immortal Redneck
May 10, 2018

Immortal Redneck is a fast paced FPS that has a lot of enjoyable aspects and replay value. With over 50 weapons to choose from, there is no lack of fun and exciting firepower at your disposal. The biggest problem I had with the game was the scroll system, repetitive temples, and what felt like an unrewarding grind. Overall, Immortal Redneck is well worth playing.

35 / 100 - Shoppe Keep
May 7, 2018

At the end of the day, Shoppe Keep 2 lacks any sort of depth. Its generic setting and art style, which is matched by the boring combat, make adventuring a total bore.

55 / 100 - Mulaka
May 7, 2018

The team at Lienzo has built a beautiful and fascinating glimpse into an overlooked and forgotten culture that is immediately endearing. The game they built to support that, though, is disappointingly shallow and clumsily constructed. It's nice to see game development coming out of Mexico, and I look forward to what they are able to do next, but Mulaka doesn't have the chops to make the game worthwhile.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole captures the very best of South Park. The creators have woven irreverent and offensive humor seamlessly into an outrageous and entertaining RPG adventure. By making the leap to the Switch, the Coon and Friends can now be played on the go, but at the cost of slower load times. Even so, this is a raunchy superhero epic no fan should miss.

Intrigue allows players to choose from 20 governments each with their own perks, special events that can reward unique ships or even destroy one of your planets, and is primarily a positive game changer for Galactic Civilizations III. Commonwealth are a neat idea, but sadly end up becoming more of a nuisance than an ally.

Tera is silly, lusty, and over-the-top cute aesthetic within a massive MMO world, interspersed with frustrating and bad gameplay elements that punctuate otherwise fun and immersive action. The world is full of perils, and players have a lot of control over the types of characters they'll use to face those perils. More fun than foul, Tera combines the cartoony and the serious in its attempt to create a worthwhile MMO universe, and accomplishes the underpinning of a great title.

Saturday Morning RPG is an extremely fun and heart-filled adventure, giving a great homage to the 80's. At $9.99 this game is definitely worth playing for the geekdom alone. I would have liked to play through even more adventures, but  I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually get some DLC with more episodes down the road. I hope everyone who plays this game enjoys it as much as I did!

90 / 100 - Spacejacked
Apr 26, 2018

Spacejacked is a wonderful combination of tower defense and fast paced action. The game's hectic nature along with the necessity to plan out your defenses makes for a fun and engaging challenge. It may take some trial and error to find what works best for each player, but that's part of the fun.

80 / 100 - Late Shift
Apr 26, 2018

Late Shift is a technological beauty that shows what full-motion video games can truly achieve. Its slick plot and fast but meaningful pacing proves that the genre has some uncharted territory it can explore in the future.

For a game that deals with this large a scale it often feels small and lifeless outside of the boss fights. It is, though, a visual showpiece that offers a stiff challenge. And while playing it on the go probably won't make this worth a return trip to Ginnungagap, it is definitely a great game to add to your Switch library if you've not checked it out before.

90 / 100 - Skies Of Fury DX
Apr 25, 2018

Skies of Fury DX is a great addition to the aerial battle genre. Based on actual events, it allows players to play a part in a historical battle. There's enough challenges and excitement to make you want to gun down enemy pilots for hours, which I happily did.
