Gaming Nexus's Reviews

Nov 25, 2022

100% unacceptable. Glitches and game breaking bugs left and right. This game should have never been allowed to be released in this state. It's a shame really, because while the first game wasn't amazing, it was decent for what it was. Cobra Kai 2 is a complete failure at almost every level. Stay far far far away from this game.

Postal 4: No Regerts is ugly to look and ugly to play – less because it is offensive or inappropriate, more because it is so poorly done. By completely whiffing on anything resembling humor and utterly failing to deliver any meaningful gameplay, Postal 4 delivers nothing of value to players unless they really enjoy watching a game crash once an hour. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

2 / 10.0 - WWE 2K20
Nov 14, 2019

Completely unacceptable. This game should have never been released in this state and it baffles me that this was even allowed to be sold at all. WWE 2K20 is by far the worst game released in the 20-year history of the mainline series of WWE Games.

2 / 10.0 - Sniper Rust VR
Jun 19, 2018

While it is provably true that VR can be a good fit for shooting games, it is not true that a game can simply be built for a VR platform without putting a lot of thought into the vast differences between a flat, finger-based model and the VR model. Sniper Rust VR does not demonstrate that any such thought went into at all. Do yourself a favor - try the free demo before paying for this one.

New Gundam Breaker is such a bad game that it makes me feel bad for Gundam fans. I picture a 12-year-old Gundam fanatic that has saved up weeks' worth of lawnmowing mowing money, sitting with a controller hanging loosely in her hand, staring at the screen and crying. This is a game that should never have come to market, regardless of how much hard work went into its creation. To ask anyone to pay money for New Gundam Breaker is outright offensive.

2 / 10.0 - Atomic Heist
May 1, 2018

Atomic Heist is a side-scrolling action shooter in the same line as the NES game Gradius, but with a harsh difficulty level and a beta-looking design. I've never played a game this unforgiving and could not find anything - music, story, sounds, features, or graphics - to bring me to play any longer.

2 / 10.0 - Fluster Cluck
Oct 20, 2014

I cannot recommend Fluster Cluck except as maybe a child's first couch co-op experience. If your 8 to 12-year-old is having a three-person sleep over and has no other PS4 games, then perhaps. Beyond that, give Fuster Cluck a hard pass.

Bladestorm Nightmare is neither interesting to play nor good looking in any way, shape, or form. There are books that offer more visceral medieval combat than this. Seek those out and do anything else with your PS4.

Beyond incomprehensible, Mia and the Dragon Princess is the type of low-budget FMV schlock that gives schlock a bad name. Regardless of what choices the player makes, the story does not hold together, the action doesn't hit, and the interface is boring. This is the first Wales Interactive title I've played that is absolutely not worth your time.

3.5 / 10.0 - Samurai Riot
Jun 16, 2022

While Samurai Riot has decent gameplay and an interesting choose-your-own-path mechanic, I cannot recommend anyone buy Samurai Riot for the Switch right now due to the save erasing bug.

Dreamworks Spirit Lucky's Big Adventure might be a lot of fun, if it would function long enough for a kid to play it. This game is broken in nearly every way possible: the graphics stutter and shake, the save files won't load, and the quest lines lead players in circles. There is no way a responsible adult should hand a child a game in this condition-is is simply unplayable.

3.5 / 10.0 - We Should Talk
Aug 18, 2020

Insatiable Cycle's zeal in tackling dialogue choices is something to appreciate. But that can only go so far when the script is tacky, the game design is clumsy, and the retail price is terribly overvalued.

3.5 / 10.0 - Those Who Remain
Jun 9, 2020

From storytelling to game design, Those Who Remain's tepid approach to its overabundant tropes made me want to leave Dormont as soon as I arrived. My best advice to horror fans: ignore the exit—even if your tank is running low.

3.5 / 10.0 - Conan Exiles
Jul 2, 2018

Conan Exiles is one of the most disappointing games I have played this generation. I have not experienced another game on PlayStation 4 as broken as Exiles. It is hard to believe that a game could be released for purchase in such bad condition. In another genre, the bugs in Exiles might be fun or amusing. In a survival game, they are crippling. Gamers deserve, and should demand, better.

Toby: The Secret Mine is inspired, to say the least. Its not its imitation of previous games that kills it, but its execution of those elements. It had potential, but you've seen this game before.

3.5 / 10.0 - The Technomancer
Jul 28, 2016

In fairness to The Technomancer it is consistent and by that I mean consistently disappointing. The Technomancer ticks all the boxes of a AAA game, but lacks the polish of its peers and does little to stand out as an RPG. Yes, at times the game can really shine. Mainly when you're admiring scenery from afar. This is the part that annoyed me the most. Obviously time was spent to make the game pretty,  but at what cost? The writing is predictable and cringe worthy and the combat is boring and dry. Somewhere beneath its surface lies a polished game. Its unfortunate the flaws are so deeply ingrained within the game that they cannot be ignored and it breaks the immersion.

3.5 / 10.0 - Coast Guard
Nov 23, 2015

While Coast Guard is marketed as providing a thrilling and exciting simulation and adventure experience, the actual narrative and gameplay couldn't be further from the truth. Issues ranging from uninteresting and boring gameplay to a story that doesn't make much sense make Coast Guard a truly difficult experience to play through. Coast Guard isn't worth your time or money.

3.5 / 10.0 - Velocibox
Aug 5, 2015

By constantly running at breakneck speed, Velocibox takes a solid idea and turns it into one of the most aggravating games ever made. The cool art style and clever concept isn't enough to make up for the frustrating gameplay, unfair obstacles and cheap deaths. Velocibox is not meant for humans.

3.5 / 10.0 - Knack
Dec 4, 2013

Knack is not only a miserably boring action game, but it features one of the worst heroes ever made. Knack is easy to kill, stupid looking and part of an adventure that will never end. This PlayStation 4 game is too difficult for kids and too generic for adults. It's a disappointing failure on just about every level.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark tries to coast on the goodwill established by the previous two games, but mishandles their gameplay concepts with a badly rushed execution. Boring level design, an awful framerate and a confusing story make this game a slog from start to finish.
