8.2 / 10.0 - Battletoads
Aug 20, 2020

In no uncertain terms, Battletoads is the surprise that at this point probably no one would have expected: the unknown Englishmen of Dlala Studios have managed to give a whole new soul to a franchise that has remained obscure to most and abandoned for over twenty-five years, presenting themselves with a loud and hilarious playable cartoon that is hard to remain indifferent to. A cheerful video game, sometimes demanding and always deliciously summery, which is loved by the innate sympathy that is capable of inspiring both in terms of atmospheres (writing, aesthetics and above all animations are really perfect) as well as in terms of gameplay, with in particular, an original and satisfying scrolling fighting game system. Of course, there are some flaws in some passages, occasional mistakes of youth are seen here and there and the unjustified absence of online multiplayer weighs heavily ... defects that in any case do not compromise at all an experience more than ever recommended, which relaunch the trio of hilarious toads as little big new entries in the green Xbox galaxy. TOADSHAMBO !!!

8 / 10.0 - Spiritfarer
Aug 18, 2020

In key moments, however, Spiritfarer always manages to take back the reins with grace, to enhance its themes and its message. And this is certainly a great merit.

The product basically flies on two distinct routes: the first leads to an extreme simulation and suitable for enthusiasts, while the second in the direction of a too simplified experience, without a middle ground. Notwithstanding, in any case, that the primary target of production remains that composed of die-hard fans of simulations, and in this respect there is really little to say: the work done by Asobo and Microsoft on the technical and simulation front is in fact simply colossal and cannot but be rewarded.

Despite the excellent premises, however, Hellraid presented itself to the appointment with the players with an extremely limited content offer and afflicted by important conceptual gaps, which give life to a flat and bite-free hack 'n' slash experience. A painfully wasted opportunity, in short, with a package that at the moment struggles to justify the ticket price.

6.5 / 10.0 - Maid of Sker
Aug 9, 2020

Overall, Maid of Sker qualifies as a discreet experience. With suggestive and intriguing initial premises, the narrative sector pays for the choice to unveil its cards too soon, which reduces the push to proceed with the exploration of the decadent Sker Hotel. Even the sense of disquiet transmitted by the Quiet Men unfortunately wanes during the adventure, mainly due to an easy-to-read AI. Implementing more firmly the excellent dynamics related to music and the need to decipher ambient sounds could have given Maid of Sker more character, for a potential that in our opinion remains expressed only in part.

Horizon Zero Dawn brings to PC a vibrant and unique world, excellently characterized and wonderful to observe. Aloy's adventure, net of some obvious imperfections and some aspects that have worst stood the test of time, is still fascinating and extremely fun to play.

Fifteen years after the first invasion of the Furon Empire, Destroy All Humans! back on the shelves with a remake that lives on ups and downs. On the one hand, they appreciated, and much so, the work of review and modernization carried out on the technical side, with the aim of bringing the graphic sector and game mechanics closer to current industry standards, while on the other hand we could not help noticing almost total conservatism with regard to the structure and composition of the campaign.

Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris is not the title we were promised. Torn apart by a recurring dualism that contrasts originality with loyalty, the simplified management of the party with the excessive woodiness of the combat system, and so on, Bandai Namco's new proposal is constantly looking for its own dimension.

Halo 3 therefore proves to be a re-edition perfectly in line with the standards to which the guys of 343 Industries have accustomed us in recent years, which will be attractive both in the eyes of old fans and those of any newbies eager to recover one of the most valuable pieces in the videogame history of the last twenty years.

Michele Verardi

Those who loved Deadly Premonition will probably also appreciate A Blessing in Disguise, a game that, despite the change of rhythm and style, exudes Swery's signature signature from every pixel. Many new players will only be perplexed in the face of such an anachronistic hodgepodge, while the fans of the Japanese author will complete the adventure amused by his strong authorship. What is certain is that the charm of the first chapter has not been replicated as we would have hoped: net of its evident flaws, this second episode still has its own gritty b-movie personality, full of potential, unfortunately, strongly unexpressed.

8.4 / 10.0 - F1 2020
Jul 6, 2020

Despite the difficulties of balancing linked to the delayed start of the F1 championship, the final result is definitely appreciable. The British team seems to have put in place a complete and playful articulated product, which alongside the tested guide system of the series combines new contents of excellent workmanship.

8 / 10.0 - Iron Man VR
Jul 2, 2020

Marvel's Iron Man VR is exactly as we expected: immersive, frenetic and witty as the superhero to whom the game is dedicated. An intuitive, articulated and almost perfect control system is counterbalanced only by the technical limitations and the cumbersome cabling of PSVR.

8.5 / 10.0 - Minecraft Dungeons
May 22, 2020

Minecraft Dungeons is a pleasant surprise. Despite its appearance, the title of Mojang and Double Eleven is a dungeon crawler that can offer an interesting experience even to experts of the genre. It does so both thanks to numerous settings to customize your path, and thanks to a remarkable care in the systems for generating maps and growth of your hero. We are faced with a universal title, suitable for every type of user, simple but not trivial: we believe it is right therefore to welcome productions of this caliber with open arms, capable of combining both lightness and depth with good balance.

4 / 10.0 - Maneater
May 22, 2020

Like a sneaky, deadly hunter, Maneater plunges into the turbulent depths of the video game market in search of unsuspecting victims. He intrigues them with the promise of a compelling exploration, attracts them winking at a stimulating progression, opens his jaws to emphasize the exaltation of a fierce predatory experience. But be careful: if someone really had to approach him, he would end up in a lake of blood. Tripwire's dogfish has unseen teeth, moves with unmanageable spasms, and fails to vary either its diet, nor the bleak routine of a boring, mechanical hunt. Stranded on the sand, await the sad fate that touches all the fish left in the sun.
