The Evil Within is the most impetuous realization of Mikami's creative vision. Finally autonomous, yet so careful to recover fragments from the game designer's other hallucinate visions, the title tells a story that mixes alienating moments and oppressive clashes, strange hermetic symbolism with brutal violent exaggerations.

You know the game, and the good thing is that on Xbox One it works well, thanks to a good optimization.

Arrived on the Xbox One digital store almost on the sly, D4 proves to be one of the best surprises of this beginning of the videogame season. It is in fact a pity that Microsoft's abandonment of Kinect has partially denied the limelight to an exclusive that lovers of the most action-oriented graphic adventures will not fail to appreciate: what D4 grants on the technical and on the precision in the reading of the player's movements, he is in fact rewarded by a fascinating story, full of surreal situations and characters but with a convincing design, capable of thrilling the player for all its (unfortunately) short duration.

Forza Horizon 2 enriches the game formula of its predecessor with a structure able to mix very well offline and online elements, old and unpublished, confirming once again as one of the most balanced cross between arcade racing and simulation.

For the same price as the "smooth" version, available on Xbox One and microsoft's older-generation home console, PC users can take home the Ultra edition of capybara's shmup. It's not the additional characters that make this re-run more interesting, but the challenge rooms that ask to play with the unlikely temporal capabilities of the equally unlikely team of heroes. The "puzzle" component is enhanced, and in short an alternative approach to that of the main adventure, always well rhythmic, which prefers total blasting.

If you have never played Diablo 3, this "definitive" edition is the right opportunity to start: you will rediscover not only a deep and calculated hack'n'slash, but also one of the few exponents of the genre who happily managed to adapt to the control system via joypad.

1080p and 60fps (with rare drops). Better textures and shadows. But in the end, the most exciting part of this masterpiece is still the plot, the emotions and the tears. And one year after its original release, everything is still there to surprise you.

Shovel Knight is yet another indie not to be missed at all. The metroidvania genre reaches its peak with a game that is not a simple ready-made, but a title with its own identity. If you haven't experienced the 8-bit era on your skin, maybe you'll struggle to fully appreciate the game of the small Californian team; the excellent control system and a wide variety of enemies and settings will satisfy even the youngest and most demanding gamers, who will nevertheless have to deal with punitive gameplay and a not indifferent difficulty curve.

It would have been easy to "brutally" convert the already solid Guacamelee! to propose it even to those who had not played it on PlayStation Vita. And instead Drinkbox Studio decides to present itself with a very special re-edition. Although the changes to the combat system and the addition of some moves and the rabid Intense mode do not change the balance of the game, here there are new areas and an unprecedented boss fight, inspired and well built, which can almost be considered an "endgame" content by those who have already completed Juan's adventure.

Let's imagine an alternate video game story, in which Doom continued to sell millions of copies and the enthusiasm for Call of Duty died down inexorably. Wolfenstein: The New Order is like the son of this only imagined era, in which shooters are brutal, violent, direct, made of shots in the face and not headshots, and of gruelling clashes in which quintals of loaders are consumed.

Mario Kart is one of the things nintendo knows how to do best. This new chapter demonstrates this with obvious clarity, precisely because it is not content to revise the driving model here and there, to add some new power-ups and to improve the balance and the overall variety. Mario Kart 8, in addition to doing all this, pushes on the accelerator of design, proposing 32 tracks one more beautiful than the other.

From Software this time has almost ticked it off, and the PC community can breathe a half sigh of relief. Dark Souls 2 will certainly not win awards for graphic quality, especially in the eyes of personal computer players, but the most advanced effects, high frame rate and higher resolutions embellish the Drangleic lands in a sensitive way.

There is an element that stands out more than others, in that set of suggestions, quotes and atmospheres set up by Phil Fish: the beauty of craftsmanship. Fez is a title built pixel by pixel, over an interminable five years: a project that has voraciously accumulated ideas, artistic registers, original and traditional gameplay dynamics. The result is a real gem, a title that shines at the highest levels of the platform genre, and succeeding from start to finish to tease, intrigue and excite the player. The arrival on Sony platforms, after the hands of its creator, is a blessing. Don't miss this opportunity.

Towerfall Ascension is a distillate of competition and adrenaline, a precise, fun brawler game, capable of grabbing anyone who wants to approach it. Ps4 has in fact "stolen" from OUYA what was considered its Killer App, and presents it to us in a richer and denser edition than the original one.

The "next-gen" version of Rayman Legends is not a re-release, a remake designed to bring out the best in the new Sony and Microsoft hardware. It is, more simply, the same title released six months ago, which today can be played on two other consoles. If you have not yet had the pleasure of discovering the new course of the Ubisoft platformer, the advice is now the same as then: make it yours without hesitation.

Four years after the release, DC Universe Online is a profoundly changed title. Changed the business model, the game is proposed in a Free-to-Play format that brings with it all the limits of the original release, but on the other hand those who decide to subscribe to a monthly subscription can have access to a sincerely greater number of contents, which transform the end-game of the title and make it undoubtedly complete, varied and competitive in the MMO sector.
