7.5 / 10.0 - Pirates Outlaws
Apr 12, 2023

Don't let the lack of creativity in the main game mode fool you: Pirates Outlaws will get you addicted to its virtually infinite possible combinations of cards and character abilities. If roguelikes and deckbuilders are among your favorite genres, be prepared to keep doing run after run.

Process of Elimination is a curious work that explores an unusual format for criminal investigation. For those who love the genre and want to see this tactical element mix, it's an interesting game but the repetitive narrative hindered by multiple plot conveniences significantly weaken the experience, just as the fact the title could have explored its mechanics' possibilities further.

7 / 10.0 - Road 96: Mile 0
Apr 4, 2023

Road 96: Mile 0 tries to explore a dystopic ambient through the lens of two teenagers with their own convictions. The end result is an emotional journey but with a forced script and many quality of life issues that severely hinder the experience. Even so, to fans of adventure titles with emotional character focus, it's worth a recommendation.

GrimGrimoire OnceMore is a really interesting RTS with a remarkable, well-planned world. The high quality Vanillaware illustrations are only the cherry on top of a cake any strategy fan should give a try.

6.5 / 10.0 - Blade Assault
Mar 30, 2023

Ignoring the extremely problematic bugs and poor performance on Switch, Blade Assault shows that it has the potential to please players who enjoy frantic action, especially during the first sessions, where you still haven't exhausted all the possibilities that the title has to present you. Unfortunately, the lack of variety in settings and diverse content is too big a problem not to negatively interfere with a game that relies on the repetitive progression cycle of a roguelite. It's still perfectly possible to have fun with Blade Assault, but the chances of getting bored quickly are higher than ideal.

With Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, veterans enjoy a deserved and pleasurable conclusion to the series; the new adventurers, on the other hand, are not abandoned and receive a game that welcomes them with open arms. Finally, it is a title that stands out positively among RPGs in general, masterfully executing all the ideas it proposes to deliver in an impressive performance for the Switch.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon might not be the kind of adventure Umbra Witch fans were hoping for, but the game manages to hold its own. With a unique charm that emulates a storybook, Cereza and Cheshire's quest through Avalon Forest is a good choice for anyone wanting to learn more about this iconic witch.

Unlike what Death wants to do to handle the issues in its company, Have a Nice Death isn't a revolution for the roguelike genre. However, this doesn't hinder the game's qualities and polishment, which is able to provide a fun adventure with a lot of strategic variety and intensity. As such, it's enough to walk through Death Inc.'s corridors and mow down enemies to live a sinister but adorable adventure.

7 / 10.0 - Mato Anomalies
Mar 27, 2023

Mato Anomalies biggest problem is not in its attempt to be a simplified Persona "clone" Persona, but in its performance problems — which, although not harmful to the gameplay itself, manage to test patience from time to time — and the excessive use of italics in texts. Even without much to offer for the genre, it is a charming and stylish RPG with a plot capable of instigating the player's curiosity from start to finish.

More than a decade after its initial release, Ib continues to provide an amazing and much-needed experience for indie gamers, especially horror fans. The improvements presented by the new edition make the title have an even higher replay factor, in addition to making it more beautiful and accessible for today.

Sixtar Gate: STARTRAIL is a rhythm game that may be appealing to veterans but its advantages aren't easily translated to newcomers in the genre. With a really weak story mode and lacking relevant tutorials, this is hard to recommend to people who don't appreciate the technical side of those games. For those who are already lovers of this game style, however, there's a ton of content and the interface adjustments may leave you with a really comfortable experience above average.

7.5 / 10.0 - Meg's Monster
Mar 20, 2023

Meg’s Monster is a humble game that takes the appearance of an RPG as a mechanism to tell its story. Though it ends up underdeveloped in some aspects, it's an easy recommendation for players who get emotional over child tales with good moral lessons.

Norn9: Var Commons is, without a doubt, a visual novel recommended for people who love sci-fi stories; however, at the same time, it's enticing even for non-fans of the genre with its well written plot and unique, charismatic characters. With quality of life features that make reading a breeze, minigames that break up the text density, and a great audiovisual presentation, the only caveat is how it leaves the main character behind but, otherwise, we have an excellent otome game for Switch.

If you can manage not to get too frustrated with the gross bugs, Planet Cube: Edge is a very accurate and satisfying precision platformer. Its eight stages filled with collectibles yield good hours of high-level action, and if that's not enough, completing the campaign unlocks new difficulties.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Smile Alchemist
Mar 17, 2023

The Smile Alchemist is a simple game about the creative process of alchemy as a business enterprise and an optimist young man trying to help people. It's a very pleasant casual experience for lovers of simulators who don't want anything too complicated.

With several points to consider, it's a fact that Digimon World: Next Order is not for everyone. For newcomers who like the first work in the series, this entry should certainly please, as most of the mechanics are more functional and rewarding, especially when it comes to digievolutions. Unfortunately, for those who have already had the opportunity to play Next Order before, there is no real reason to pay such a high price for this new edition, because apart from the Portuguese subtitles, there is no really significant improvement.

Despite not being innovative in gameplay and leaving points to be improved in the HD2D style, as well as having a story that could be more organic and interesting, Octopath Traveler II has a lot of content, generally good protagonists, a beautiful and varied OST and a dynamic, versatile and accessible gameplay , with the care to respond partially or totally to the main criticisms of the first Octopath Traveler. This title is highly recommended for fans of classic style JRPGs from the 16-bit era and those who enjoyed any other Team Asano games.

Pronty's journey parades with great vigor on the Switch, even if eventually some of its gameplay traits diverge from the overall pace of the work. Faced with an intriguing story and a beautiful artistic direction, this metroidvania projects great wonders directly from the bottom of the sea, a place that often populates our imagination with its mysteries, and which now gains a new narrative that is full of charm.

Despite the issues listed, ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni is a title with frantic action moments. The good equipment options and files that give more context to the plot make the exploration of the island feel rewarding. Further, it's an extremely beautiful work with a good soundtrack for both the dramatic and hectic moments. Lastly, the relationship between Kuuta and Kanna is developed through enchanting conversations, making it an emotional thing to witness.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is top-notch survival horror and an easy recommendation of the genre. With a very polished Japanese horror setting and a very thought-provoking plot, the fourth game in the Fatal Frame franchise is an experience that sticks in the head and can even keep anyone who dives deep into the game awake at night.
