8 / 10.0 - Post Void
Mar 27, 2023

Post Void has the greatest virtues of being direct and having precise gameplay, with a generous contribution of roguelike touches. This combination manages to create something that always makes us look for the conclusion of the game or the best score. The bizarre aesthetic might offend some more sensitive eyes, but even its acute difficulty isn't a turn off.

7.5 / 10.0 - 9 Years of Shadows
Mar 26, 2023

9 Years of Shadows uses music and color to create a unique adventure. Agile exploration is its greatest asset, especially changing Europa armor to overcome the various challenges spread throughout Talos Castle. Technically the game is competent, however, as a metroidvania, it is basic: the progression is very linear and most of the elements are too simple. To compensate, the atmosphere is well-built with the colorfully stylish visuals and outstanding soundtrack. These characteristics make 9 Years of Shadows enjoyable, despite not being very outstanding.

8 / 10.0 - Vernal Edge
Mar 25, 2023

Vernal Edge delivers polished boss battles but ends up lacking in enemy variety. It's enhanced by offering a semi-open world unlike the usual metroidvanias but should have smaller areas and a better map system. Weighing the pros and cons of the game, I conclude there are more good things than bad, enough to recommend it to any fan of the genre who has the patience to brave a world with no directions.

9.5 / 10.0 - Spin Rhythm XD
Mar 24, 2023

Addictive, frantic and fun are just some of Spin Rhythm XD's adjectives. With a good selection of songs and a fluid and easy-to-understand gameplay, Spin Rhythm stands out and consolidates itself as one of the best experiences available in rhythm games. Even with the enormous complexity of the highest difficulties, the constant attempt to complete a song is extremely satisfying. With the promise of new content to come, Spin Rhythm XD is poised to remain relevant for years to come.

6 / 10.0 - Mato Anomalies
Mar 23, 2023

Mato Anomalies is not a bad game, but the impression is that everything in it could be significantly improved. Combat works, but lacks variety and some system that differentiates it from other examples of the genre. The story is interesting and manages to entertain, but it lacks some singular idea that makes it unique. The presentation manages to carry the title, but could have received a more thoughtful finish to make everything even more captivating.

Postcard 4: No Regerts is simply something you have to stay away from. It doesn't save itself for the humor, or the gameplay, or the visuals, or for any reason I try to think of to find a positive point.

8.5 / 10.0 - WWE 2K23
Mar 22, 2023

John Cena's catchphrase ["Hustle, Loyalty, Respect"] is the most adequate summary of WWE 2K23. Even with a structure similar to the previous game, it's easy to notice all the work to make the game more faithful to realism, putting it at an attractive level to people entering the ring for the first time and an addicting one to those defending their title.

Two Point Campus: School Spirits is an excellent quality DLC that maintains the level of the base game through a creative map, new courses and funny and well-animated characters. Also, the dynamic of needing to exorcise spirits to get new lands and having to be aware of spirits tormenting your students is really cool and brings an air of novelty to the game. Despite having less content than the first update, I believe that School Spirits is a good investment, considering its lower price and the fact that it has more impactful content.

9 / 10.0 - Tchia
Mar 20, 2023

Tchia is a full-fledged game that achieves (almost) all of its objectives with flying colors. In the archipelago, there is a lot to do and find, but it is also a place to just enjoy, walk around and explore. And what a stunning place! Make sure you immerse yourself in the world and in the shoes of the many animals you can incorporate, then rest up playing the ukulele and observe the details of cultures that seem far from ours, but that can still reach the world.

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist has a good soundtrack and great sensitivity in character building and gender relations, in addition to a unique simulation through narrative RPG and interesting mechanics based on cards that dialogue very well with its plot. This title is highly recommended for casual simulation and VN players, as well as narrative-focused RPG lovers.

7.5 / 10.0 - KartRider: Drift
Mar 17, 2023

KartRider: Drift makes a humble addition to the list of games as a service that are worth checking out to invest your time thanks to accessible gameplay, ease of finding matches and the freedom to choose where to play without compromising your progress to a single platform. They are good excuses to have it installed on more than one device to enjoy one or another race whenever you have a little time to spare.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is made up of mostly good quality photos. The game itself is fun and solid, delivering a competent story and unusual and addictive combat. Exploration and puzzle solving are also strengths, as are the positives brought about by the remastering process. Unfortunately, it didn't rid the game of some very ugly textures and confusing gameplay when trying to control the characters and their lanterns. It also doesn't help that exploration is somewhat slow and plot development requires a lot of reading. Although a remake would perhaps have been a better option, these problems do not compromise the experience, especially for fans of the genre or those who were very curious about this unique and competent proposal.

Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix came with great variety in customization items and unique personalities for the cast but failed with its massive repetition. Not giving different [gameplay] traits to each actress, or even locking each of them to a weapon type, made gameplay too repetitive. This factor and the repetitive grinding reinforce the feeling of mobile game and fails to live up to the variety a console title should offer to its public.

9 / 10.0 - Papetura
Mar 16, 2023

Papetura is one of the most beautiful video games I've ever had the privilege of seeing. It's unique and passionate, but it's somewhat melancholic when I think of it as a reminder of something that was good while it lasted, which wasn't much. Made for one-shot play, the point-and-click gameplay isn't meant to be challenging, though it still does require a little thought at each step, enough to feel like you're achieving a goal. Enter this world knowing two things: it is endlessly fascinating and purposely brief.

Have a Nice Death is a carefully constructed roguelike with fast-paced action. The agile combat in a hack-and-slash fashion is its biggest highlight, especially for being easy to understand and offering many possibilities to combine various attacks and powers. Besides that, there's a ton of content to explore in an unusual universe that explores corporate world issues in a light and humorous way. Its concepts are solid and well developed but some issues are annoying, such as the stages being way too simple and the unbalanced elements. Luckily, the impeccable technical aspects and the fast rhythm of matches manage to offset the negative points. Have a Nice Death may not be innovative, however it is compelling in its excellent gameplay.

Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is a remarkable crossover packed with quality. Content from the Vampire Hunter series is creatively introduced into the Dead Cells universe, with new stages and gear that further enrich the experience. The numerous references are the highlight of the expansion, but it lacked a bit of identity, as the stages and bosses are not so different from what is already offered in the main campaign. Either way, this DLC is essential for both Dead Cells and Castlevania fans.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a testament to how Team Ninja has complete mastery when it comes to making a quality action RPG. The agile and rewarding combat, hallmark of the studio's work, reached its best form in what can already be considered one of the best games of 2023.

Lightfall was the most anticipated expansion in years for the Destiny 2 community. Bungie's publicity team knew how to sell the expansion very well. Unfortunately, those who expected quality at least equal to the Witch Queen were disappointed. The nice additions to the game's mechanics and gameplay bring a bittersweet taste to the start of Year 6 of Destiny 2. If the creative team for levels, powers and equipment is following a brilliant path, the same cannot be said for the writers.

The re-release of Digimon World: Next Order is a great chance for fans of the series who don't own a PlayStation to take advantage of sim raising. Unfortunately, the advantages stop there. The quality of the work leaves a lot to be desired and even the translation into Portuguese, which was supposed to be a differential of the new version, indicates a great lack of care by Bandai Namco with what it is offering to the end user.

With creative and fun puzzles, Figment 2: Creed Valley is one of the most charming games I played recently despite its shallow combat. The musical rhythm, colorful and lively sceneries and the voice acting, especially for the protagonists, make it one of the most captivating titles I ever touched. It's an easy recommendation for people looking for a light and challenging game to pass the time.
