For the Nintendo Switch owners, who also happen to be fans of Dragonball Z franchise, one of the best of all has now become available for the popular handheld. New addition of difficulty adjustments allow you to enjoy the game as close as the original manga’s anointed amount of power levels for each character and new story contents will let you extend the play time up to 50 hours of gameplay. But if you’re new to the immense world of DBZ, there will be several obstacles that may bring some disappointments. It’s a fitting game to remind you of the grand sentiments that you felt from the original animated series.

If you were satisfied with most of these ‘home training’ style games already, then this may not be a surprise to your collection. At the same time, there isn't much of a beginner guideline set in for those who really want to start working out, so it may not be the best choice to be their first fitness game. Still, the exercises are real and a decent lower body workout may be a good mix for those who were tired of the old typical fitness titles. If you’re at a rock and a hard place for when it comes to training at home, this could be that little ‘push’ that you needed to soldier on.

An actual horror game that perfectly delivers fear to the players. Unlike other traditional horror games, the fearsome AI constantly evolves based on the player’s actions and decisions. Clever jump scares are hidden all around the corner but some of the UI and insanely difficult puzzle elements somewhat misdirect the atmosphere of fear into frustration.

8 / 10.0 - Kitaria Fables
Sep 8, 2021

With its cute looks and furry battle elements, the game has the merits of a typical RPG with a friendly look. Kitaria Fables can be a decent entry RPG to the younger audience as well as those who are getting sick and tired of dark and grimy fantasy worlds, this one can be a breath of fresh air for some.

7 / 10.0 - FORECLOSED
Sep 1, 2021

Foreclosed is set in a cyberpunk-like dystopian future. The idea of a graphic novel style gameplay is pretty unique but the in-game mechanics that don’t really resolve the expectations was a bit of a let down.

9 / 10.0 - Hades
Aug 29, 2021

You’re going to equip various weapons and receive endless blessings from other Gods while doing your best to escape hell, guarded by your father, Hades. The difficulty hike is no joke and tutorials that kicks you right into middle of hell (literally) would be the first obstacle for those who’re new to rogue-like action genre, but once you get your grip and get used to its mechanics, you’ll be willing to melt away your time like an unattended ice cream left out in the depth of hell. While many rogue-like games suffer from meaningless retries and lack of reward rebalancing, Hades rewards those who keep trying by providing you with more questions and stories to uncover. There are plenty of hardcore modes for the heart of steel gamers who’d like some neverending challenge as well. Fans of hack & slash must try this game out.

Slightly lacking in the ‘well made FPS game’ title, but if you’re looking for a sniper specific style of game, it’s well worth the experience. Like the title suggests, it’s a fine sniping FPS game which suits those who just want to sit back and take out enemies from afar.

8 / 10.0 - Shadow Corridor
Aug 21, 2021

It’s hard to believe that this game was built by just one person, considering the level of polishing and the amount of contents are extremely well made. This horror-adventure game had set a semi-rogue-like aspect of randomizing the item placements each time you’d restart from each death, whereas in normal horror games, it just becomes a memory test, everytime you’d restart the same level. The visuals aren’t the highest of its calibur but it fits right in with the whole concept of the atmosphere. Sound quality is also top notch. Since the controls are strictly keyboard & mouse so there may be some clunkiness to the movement. Nonetheless it serves as one of the best horror-adventure games for the fans who are in for a challenge.

The graphics are simple but it’s enough to present the changes of the environment and climate with its colorful visions all while flying around the world. Players will emerge into the immense world of secrets and follow its interesting story. You may feel a little bit of emptiness after you’ve solved the mysteries and find yourself with nothing else to do in the end.

Ruvato: Original Complex First half of the game doesn’t really deliver the interactions from the action sequences. There are glitches that even if you parry an incoming attack, the follow up doesn’t damage the enemies. There are no options to check your buttons settings or go into tutorial mode. While there are many flaws of the game, once you figure out the enemy placements within the stage, using parry attacks to plow through them while upgrading your stats, provide a fun and speedy experience that you weren’t able to see from other similar titles. That’s actually enough for you to enjoy what Ruvato brings up to the table.

This game is designed to use the Gyro controls of the Nintendo Switch. There are single and multiplayer modes as a choice but neither delivers any decent experiences due to the clunky controls of the Gyro. Rather than trying to beat the game, it’s better off to see cute and funny interactions with the loveable sea creatures that appear in the game.

This is the final installation of the Mary Skelter series. While it’s unfortunate that there hasn’t been much of a retouch since the previous title, the new storyline makes up for it all. If you’re a true fan who’ve been following since its beginning, this is your chance to check out the true ending of the epic tale. This new story continues from the ending of the last title, so if you haven’t experienced the earlier days of the story, make sure to check out the ‘Before Story’ segment to fill you up on its past.

A cute graphics mix up that views the apocalypse and the last girl left in the world. This roguelike game allows you to decorate Toriko and the Terrarium they’re living in. Dungeons are always a thrill along with the short but shocking story that will make you focus on the game even more than usual.

Even if you mix all the aspects that provide fun in games, the end product may not be the most fun at all. Nothing should ever be too much or too amplified from their original purpose. Hunters Arena has all of the above. In the end, it failed to capture what it’s destined to be and has become a cluster of nothing special.

8 / 10.0 - I.F.O
Jul 30, 2021

The visuals are a delightful match to the classic Game & Watch. There are some reimagined mechanics of a flight shooter that may not be best presented in the modern graphics, thus some of the elements are acceptable to acknowledge in this unique old school visuals. The game allows the use of the frontal touch-pad so if you want to make the digitized black and chrome graphics feel just like the old days, you can enjoy the entire game without the Joycons attached on each side. For the price range, you’ll get the most out of what the gameplay and the visual elements would provide for your average gamer. Even the audio effects resonate some of the old classic chip-tune themes. The game definitely portrays the love and passion from the Game & Watch era.

7 / 10.0 - Ayo the Clown
Jul 29, 2021

Ayo the Clown is a proud introduction of the developer, Cloud M1. Even with repetitive play styles, the 8 unique locations provide delicate appeals of each other and the motivation to push forward with upgrades along the progression. The character design may seem like ‘a mistake’ and doesn’t really give that sense of it being a reputable main character, though these guys are definitely fans of platformers and their experiences were translated into a decent work of art. It’s fair to say that their sequels and future works are greatly anticipated.

NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 1 has 10 of its popular games that were ported to be played on the Nintendo Switch. Each game has different language versions and also emulates the slight differences of the game versions based on certain regions. Some of the contents include 3D renders of the actual game cartridges that you can tilt and turn to see from different angles. Multiplayer features that required the original to have link cables between the two portable machines are now comfortably allowed to be played in local multiplayer. The selected games were rightfully some of the best games at its time so now’s the chance if you weren’t able to live those days back in the era of the OG portable gaming sensation.

8 / 10.0 - Cris Tales
Jul 19, 2021

While the cinematic procedures required some aspects of time travel - which also is part of the combat in this game, it has been well presented as it was mostly inspired from many existing JRPG titles. Some of the dialogues are not recommended to be skipped as there is no other way to determine the outcome of the given context. Customization of equipment also feels a bit lackluster. Despite these little hiccups, it would serve to become a genre pioneer for tags such as ‘Cris Tales like’ games due to its uniqueness in mechanism among many other RPGs out there. Visuals that look like popup artbooks and fully voiced dialogues allow you to enjoy it to the fullest.

While it’s unfortunate that the entire playtime is quite short, the enriched story plot and light puzzle elements make the time worthwhile. It was fun to engage an expanding world during progression, as well as the well constructed campaign so that the players don’t have to experience repetitive aspects within the game. For those who want to spend a productive 1 to 2 hours of gaming, this is the one for you.

While it’s your typical ‘Monster Hunter’ game, you can also tame and ride them all while enjoying this adventure RPG. The battle system is turn based and the intensity that the original Monster Hunter had has been well translated into this iteration as well. While there is a keyword of ‘Stories’ in the game’s title, it was a little ironic that the characters weren’t highlighted as much which made it feel awkward to focus on the story itself.
