The developers have clearly shown us that simple graphics, controls, and gameplay mechanics are enough to create an entertaining game, as long as it offers diverse content. Another plus is that you can play the game in co-op mode with your friends.

Horizon Forbidden West is a massive action-RPG adventure that is, in many ways, far superior to its predecessor and completely blows it out of the water. I can find almost nothing to fault the developers at Guerrilla Games for; this is a worthy sequel that is undoubtedly one of the best games for the PlayStation console. The world of Horizon is bursting with high-quality content; you can easily lose yourself in the game for dozens of hours without ever getting bored. I highly recommend this game—it’s a must-have for action RPG lovers—and I hope the developers have some DLC in store for us.

GRID Legends truly delivered on its promises, and compared to its predecessor, this new installment is a huge step forward. While I still can’t say it’s a perfect game that reaches the level of quality needed for me to consider it the best entry in the series, it’s a step in the right direction. If Codemasters puts in the work, in three years they could deliver a perfect sequel that could easily crush the competition. I give it seven and a half out of ten.

Elex 2 is undoubtedly a pleasant surprise that skillfully builds on its predecessor. The story itself and its subsequent impact on the world, the old factions, and the characters are truly well-done; they feel believable and solid. The gameplay is enjoyable, and the game simply draws you in, making you want to keep going and complete various tasks, explore the world, craft gear, negotiate with factions, and take down enemies. It’s clear that the developers have learned from their previous mistakes and are striving to improve the open-world RPG style they’re so familiar with. While there are still a few bugs, they aren’t anything so extreme that they would significantly spoil the experience or dampen the desire to play.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV is definitely an intriguing fighting game where nothing comes easy. If you’re the type of player who enjoys a good challenge, I highly recommend this title. The visual style, dynamic combat, and fantastic electronic soundtrack give the game a unique charm.

This game left me with mixed feelings. While the interesting story and overall atmosphere—enhanced by a great soundtrack and visuals—are very appealing, the developers didn’t quite manage to blend them seamlessly with the gameplay elements. The high-quality presentation alone probably won’t save you from all the repetitive and shallow content in the levels you’ll be grinding through. While I have no doubt I’ll return to Vesper at some point, it certainly won’t be for its thrilling and original gameplay.

To wrap up this review, as is my custom, I’ll also touch on the game’s visuals and overall technical quality. The visuals themselves come across as thoroughly average, and I can’t say I have a negative impression of them. It’s true that these days you can find slightly better-looking titles for a similar price, but on the other hand, Fast & Furious: Spy Racers Rise of Sh1ft3r is aimed more at younger players who probably won’t care much about the graphics. And even if they did, they won’t be disappointed by them either. All of this is more than made up for by excellent optimization, which never once let me down during the entire playthrough, and in this regard, I can definitely give the developers credit.

Clunky Hero is still in its early stages, which naturally comes with its fair share of unresolved bugs. The developers need to learn from these and listen closely to their community—which, by the way, they are doing, and for that they deserve credit. Still, I see potential in the game, though there’s still a lot of work to be done before it truly shines. This quirky Metroidvania, brimming with humor, stands out among the other titles in your library thanks to its witty oddity, and if you’re a fan of games like this, you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck.

Death and Taxes offers an entertaining look at how bureaucracy works in the afterlife. The combination of simulation and visual novel elements blends well with the game’s attractive graphics, pleasant music, and witty dialogue. It’s just a shame that the mechanical nature of the gameplay carries over into the story, and unless you’re willing to thoroughly explore every detail, the game will likely start to feel repetitive pretty soon. Your first playthrough will be great, the second maybe even better, but any subsequent ones will probably be just for the achievements or alternate endings.

Megaquarium has a lot to offer, especially when it comes to the variety of fish and sea creatures. The most fun part of this game is unlocking animals and new items that make the game easier, building different types of aquariums, and creating the most epic park that everyone would envy. The developers have done a lot of things right, and I can’t even think of anything I’d really criticize about the game. It’s just that after playing for a while, once you’ve unlocked almost everything, the game might start to get boring—but that’s a classic problem with tycoon games. I’d like to commend the developers for continuing to work on the game; their improvements and expansions, which are gradually being added, breathe new life into it and make it even more interesting. It’s a very entertaining economic simulator that I’d recommend to anyone who loves fish and wants to build their own park full of aquariums.

Hidden Deep is already a great game, even though it’s still in early access. It has a terrifying atmosphere, paired with music that keeps you on edge the whole time. The physics in the game are fantastic, though I have to admit that in most cases I ended up killing myself—I didn’t even need the aliens to do it. I’m looking forward to seeing what surprises the game has in store for us once it’s fully completed.

Aspire: Ina's Tale doesn't quite live up to its full potential, partly due to its short length and the somewhat clunky movements of its slower pace. It relies too heavily on its stunning audiovisual presentation—which, incidentally, is its strongest point—but the rest of the game doesn’t seem to have received the same level of care. Thanks to the simple puzzles, you’ll breeze through the game fairly quickly, to the point where you’ll wish the tower had a few more floors so you could revel in its beauty a little longer.

Aeon Must Die! is undoubtedly a highly innovative and distinctive title that breathes new life into the genre. However, it certainly isn’t a classic beat ’em up, as many of the combat sequences and action scenes are interrupted by dialogue windows. To top it all off, the gameplay is a bit clunky, and the combat feels awkward. Even so, it’s a well-made game that’s innovative, with distinctive visuals and a perfect soundtrack—that is, if you’re a fan of synthwave. Once you get the hang of the combat and game mechanics, you’ll keep coming back, even if you keep getting your butt kicked, because you’ll just want to take down that ever-improving, tougher-than-ever monster.

Kitaria Fables is an adorable game featuring a kitten trying to save the world. It’s cheerful, playful, and relaxing. While some battles can be challenging, you can take a break and unwind with some farming. If you love cute animals, a bit of action, and farming, this game is perfect for you. Let’s join Nyanza in raising our sword to save all the animals and restore peace to Kitaria.

Source of Madness may still be in early access, but I’m really enjoying it nonetheless. I like that it always presents a new challenge in the form of new monsters and different environments. Personally, I’m really looking forward to the next acts, which I hope will be released as soon as possible. If you’re a fan of Lovecraft, you definitely shouldn’t miss this game—it has a lot of potential.

Like other point-and-click adventure games, AntVentor is very easy to control, whether using a keyboard and mouse or a gamepad. The result is a relaxing, almost meditative experience with a healthy dose of humor and a surprising story set against a beautiful backdrop. Although I wish the game were longer, this is only the first of three planned chapters. Despite the puzzles not always being straightforward, I highly recommend the game. You broke Florantino’s machine, so you better help him fix it!

Wartales definitely has a lot to offer and is already clearly among the best in its category. The developers at Shiro Games have incorporated the best they could into the game, focusing on the harshness of the medieval setting and its gloomy atmosphere, combined with tactical RPG elements and turn-based combat. Combined with survival elements and various moral choices that can influence the world, this is clearly a great combination. However, some game mechanics remain a bit of a mystery—these aren’t exactly bugs, but it would be helpful to explain how they work in the tutorial.

As I mentioned at the beginning, Tavern Master was a safe bet on the part of the new developer. While that’s understandable, a bit more creativity or some innovation wouldn’t have hurt. The developers took the core of tycoon gameplay and stripped it down to nothing but the most basic mechanics. The game looks and plays well, but for anyone familiar with the genre, it offers no challenge or innovation, so it could be recommended mainly to those who don’t have much experience with this type of game, and Tavern Master could serve as a good stepping stone for them toward higher-quality and more sophisticated titles. In a way, my criticism of the soundtrack is symbolic, and it can be extended to the entire game. It sounds good and is quite catchy, but who thought a single melody would suffice for the entire playthrough? There’s too little creativity and an almost excessive play-it-safe approach. I can imagine that the developers could easily use the current game as a foundation on which to gradually build additional content and refine the mechanics. The development potential is definitely there. As it stands, Tavern Master is a laid-back game sufficient for unwinding and a momentary distraction, but it still has a long way to go before it can be considered a classic of the genre.

Aeterna Noctis presents an extreme challenge for all Metroidvania fans in the truest sense of the word. The gameplay will captivate players not only with its smooth animations, but also with its diverse environments and vibrant soundtrack. Reaching the Queen of Light won’t be easy, and it will certainly take you more than thirty hours.

Slice of Sea is definitely a game I recommend everyone try. You’ll find a truly captivating world full of all sorts of details. Amazing music and just the right amount of challenges in the form of various puzzles. If you’re a fan of atmospheric adventure games, you should definitely give this title a try. Plus, thanks to Radek Barták, you’ll also enjoy the Czech language version the game offers.
