COGconnected's Reviews

Feb 26, 2014

It is rich in depth and despite its often cheery exterior it is a top notch third person action fest that many gamers may have written off. Let me be clear that PvZ offers plenty in regards to tactics and skill and in my opinion I've enjoyed this more than any recent CoD or Battlefield game for its refreshing take on what some could argue is becoming a tired genre.

80 / 100 - Strider
Feb 25, 2014

Fan or not, you needn't worry about getting your money's worth here. Strider strikes a good balance of old school coin-op difficulty and all the modern day trimmings. Double Helix has crafted a reimagining that plays as well as it is steeped in respect for its content material.

81 / 100 - Thief
Feb 24, 2014

Despite some of Thief's annoyances, the game is rich in detail and hard to put down. Needless to say, this is one convict I won't be locking up any time soon.

As reviewers we're always looking for ways to be critical of a game we play. At times I think it's important to throw that out the window just a little bit and I like to ask myself one simple question; Am I having fun playing this? There is no doubt in my mind that the answer to this question is yes.

Sailing the seas, encountering strange and weird enemies and boss battles, and seeing Luffy’s strange rubbery elastic body, One Piece: Romance Dawn had the potential to be a fun, action filled turn-based RPG, but instead Three Rings Inc. has developed something that is a complete wreck.

Platform gaming fans would be silly to pass this one over; however, the rest of you may want to "proceed with caution" as although it is a very good game, it is far from being an easy one to master.

Onslaught is by no means the definitive must own CoD DLC but it's solid and gives Ghosts some more legs.  So really what more could you ask for?

55 / 100 - Loadout
Feb 3, 2014

Ultimately, great controls and some occasional laughs aren't enough to stop Loadout from being an average game and one that doesn't deserve your time. However, it does have one positive effect and that is, it makes you want to play UT2K4 again and that my friends, is never a bad thing.

75 / 100 - Blackguards
Feb 3, 2014

It was rather fun to play a turn-based tactical RPG in this style, but I wish it had just a bit more life to it and not feel so stiff. Don't get me wrong – it is still very enjoyable, I just wish it had a bit more to it.  If you're a fan of games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Ogre Tactics, and similar games, I would say that Blackguards is definitely worth checking out!

75 / 100 - ZEN Pinball 2
Jan 29, 2014

If Zen can hone their tables and create unique experiences instead of attempting to beat the best at their own craft, they'll have something special on their hands. As it stands, the game is a fun romp, but only if you can get past the differences from real pinball psychologically.

The amount of work put into offering next-gen consoles an upgraded Lara Croft makes the Definitive Edition much more than a simple cash grab. One of the pinnacles of last-gen gaming is presented as one of the best looking games on offer for your new console if not one of the best looking games you've ever seen, period. Perhaps not worth the full price tag if you've already played it there is no doubt that if you missed it on round one that it's better than ever now and worth every penny.

While perhaps lacking the impact of the end of Season 1, I can wholeheartedly recommend Season 2 to fans of the series. Perhaps more importantly, I recommend the game to anyone who enjoys a dramatic story – both gamers and non-gamers deserve to enjoy this shining example of interactive media.

At the end of the day Spartan Assault is not a bad game, but there are a few hiccups that hamper what could have been.

To say I did not like the game would in fact be a lie. I actually had a great time with it (sans the air duct sections). Journey of a Roach is ideal for someone who wants a change of pace in a puzzle game. It is for someone who does not want a complex story line and is looking for an affordable puzzle game for your PC.

In the end, is World of Warplanes worth your time and possibly your hard-earned cash?  I think it is as it is fun and something different than the multitude of FPS's out in the market today, and certainly anyone who is an aircraft enthusiast should check it out.  Since the game is free to play – with a pay option for extra perks – I'd recommend giving it a shot. Strap yourself in and take to the skies, you won't regret it.

50 / 100 - Crimson Dragon
Dec 14, 2013

Crimson Dragon isn't the worst Xbox One launch game, but it's far from good. The RPG elements have promise but lack the polish, while the gameplay and visuals fail to resonate on any level. It's a title that feels devoid of passion, and not even the great soundtrack can save the game's flying 18 wheelers from utter mediocrity.

90 / 100 - FIFA 14
Dec 11, 2013

FIFA 14 for the Xbox One is quite simply an impressive launch game.  The enhanced visuals make for a game that comes alive and for the first time in recent memory I truly felt like I was "in the game".  There is some room for growth but there is no question this FIFA game is about the best we could have hoped for with an EA Sports launch title.

70 / 100 - Zoo Tycoon
Dec 10, 2013

After playing Zoo Tycoon I have to admit that it is quite time consuming, has a long learning curve and is more ideal on a PC platform compared to a console experience. That being said, it is a game that provides a robust zoo experience perfect for any zoo enthusiast, a veteran "sim" player, or perhaps even for a parent looking for a game without any violence whatsoever.
