The psychological horror elements are not as present in The Medium as you think they may be, but they are well implemented. The story is intriguing and the world is immersive. It is a great selection for fans of classical horror.

Bloober Team's The Medium is an admirable effort to evoke a classical survival horror experience, but it's not without some caveats.
The Medium sadly joins Blair Witch as another disappointing effort from Bloober Team.
The Medium was a game I really wanted to like. With its gorgeous graphics, old school tank control gameplay, and musical pieces composed by Akira Yamaoka himself it had everything that promised a memorable experience. But at the end, the journey was unfulfilling and forgettable.
The way that The Medium brings trauma to life in various ways is awe-inspiring. At the same time, it's not all that good of a video game.
The Medium is a good piece, which can be faulted for some things, but they do not harm the title itself. As such, the Bloober Team has delivered a well-made game that definitely deserves a sequel. While at first glance it may seem like I'm just bitching about The Medium, the opposite is true. I enjoyed the game immensely and can recommend it with a clear conscience. You can purchase this title on Steam for €49.99, but personally I find the price too high for a title that you can finish in 7-9 hours.

The Medium is large in ambition and pulls it off with ease.
The story is very compelling and it draws you in. As you progress there is more and more horror revealed about what exactly went on at the Niwa hotel. Marianne is an interesting protagonist and you want to figure out what is going on with her. The puzzles had just the right amount of complexity, using a uniquely dark world/ light world thinking style to solve many of them. It was different and refreshing. I enjoyed every minute of The Medium.
An engaging story set in a unique setting and interesting gameplay mechanic, only for the game to be literally slowed down with framerate issues.
With interesting themes, a compelling story, and a creeping sense of dread, The Medium is a mature and atmospheric experience that I really enjoyed playing. It’s a major evolution for Bloober Team, building on elements from their earlier games and making bold new strides in other areas. After Observer: System Redux, I was excited to play The Medium. Now I genuinely can’t wait for what they do next. Let’s see where it truly all ends.
The Medium may not be the greatest horror game, nor even the scariest, but it is a game made with a lot of love and made for gamers who feel nostalgia. and to say that This type of game is not dead yet, on the contrary, it is still wanted, and not only that, but they also tried to renew and provide a wonderful story, even if it had some negatives in the narration, with a simple and smart gameplay even if it contains some technical problems, but all of that does not hide at all that this game did what many games of the same genre were unable to present recently, and this thing may make fans of this type of games look forward to tomorrow with a kind of longing and a kind of anticipation because this is just the beginning of the new generation.

While it is a little rough around the edges from a visual and gameplay standpoint, plus the fact it does dip below 30 fps from time to time, something that shouldn’t be acceptable in 2021, it has to get a pass due to the impressive feat that it pulls off with the Dual-Reality Gameplay.
Although The Medium tells a kind of by-the-numbers supernatural story, it still gives you a great mystery well-worth solving. The music and sound design heightens every moment without actually overwhelming the other aspects of the game and the unique visual style which masterfully utilizes the contrast between two very different worlds, helps the gameplay reach higher levels of providing an immersive experience.

Having waited for 9 months to play I can say that it didn’t disappoint. Bloober team have done a brilliant job at bringing this title to Playstation 5 with a lot of unique features. I thoroughly enjoyed The Medium, the writing was great and the story was very engaging. It isn’t a game that sets out to scare you for the sake of it. I can think of only 2 sections that actually made me jump. So bear that in mind especially if you are worried. As a gamer with Epilepsy, it is nice to see a very clear warning about photosensitive seizures. Whilst I didn’t experience any problems please stick to the recommended guidelines when playing this or any title. Having thanked the team on Twitter for a superb title it will not come as a surprise that I award I am giving The Medium the Thumb Culture Platinum Award.
The Medium is another fantastic game from Bloober Team. Whilst not as scary and anxiety-inducing as previous games, it’s more creepy and supernatural dealing with the spirit realm. The dual realities feature is by far the best element of this game and I loved exploring both the real and spirit worlds for clues to solve puzzles and progress the story. I sometimes felt restricted with the fixed camera angles, and had an occasionally glitch in a cutscene, but overall the voice acting enhanced an awesome story that is well worth playing through.
Overall, The Medium left me with feelings of general frustration. Not at the quality of the game, or the mechanics themselves, but the length of the ride. The game is simply too long and the vast majority of my issues are a result of the core game growing stale, or the story being broken up by long stretches of nothing. All that being said, I had a good time with The Medium. It’s not something I’d recommend people rush out and buy at full price, but it’s certainly a game worth experiencing.
Definitely. Bloober Team was right and this is without a doubt the best project of the Krakow studio. An engaging plot, a story told in an excellent way in both worlds, a wonderful audiovisual setting and a constant sense of horror and anxiety are a recipe for a very successful horror.

A narrative and absorbing game with touches of survival horror. Two dimensional planes that give life to surrealistic works.

The Medium surprised me with its psychologically twisted, complex and intricate story that had me enthralled from the moment the intrigue turned into something more sinister and personable. Even with its simplistic gameplay design and clunky encounter mechanics, the atmosphere of the world and enjoyable tale should carry you through even its darkest corners. In the real world, The Medium would be basic, but in the spirit realm, it comes to life and will show you the disturbing but enchanting fabric of its reality.
