FORECLOSED Reviews
Foreclosed is the work of a very small team, and it shows. This is an indie game which in a number of ways, certainly can’t compete with comparable games with vastly larger budgets. This goes a long way towards explaining the lacklustre combat and the game’s short length, which means it can be completed in under five hours. With that said, Foreclosed has an excellent aesthetic and a number of genuinely intriguing scenes. For fans of cyberpunk, or of third-person adventures generally, this is a trip into the future that is worth taking.
Foreclosed is a game that knows how to use futuristic style and comics very well, go from full screen to vignettes, and use words to represent sounds is very successful and refreshes the combats, however to be a game with so much focus on combat, it is a shame that its game of weapons and special abilities feel mostly without grace and effectiveness.

A cyber adventure with some innovative proposals and some edges to be polished that entertains, but does not stand out within its genre.

Foreclosed does as much wrong as it does right, but overall I found myself intrigued enough by the world, story and unique design choices that I wanted to see it through. How much you value gameplay is likely to reflect your opinion on this one.
Foreclosed is a reminder of the adage to not judge a book by its cover as despite its singular, eye-catching comic-book-meets-cyberpunk aesthetic and some promising mechanics, the execution is a botched one.
Foreclosed is set in a cyberpunk-like dystopian future. The idea of a graphic novel style gameplay is pretty unique but the in-game mechanics that don’t really resolve the expectations was a bit of a let down.

The end result of Foreclosed is, as I said, “ish”. It is a mixed bag, a good little game that stumbles to some fantastic moments. It’s an interesting game with some overall design issues. You breathe in a visually stunning world, both in design and in execution, but struggle to care about the who and why with a story that doesn’t pick up much after the opening act. Foreclosed is a game that absolutely has moments you will enjoy, but it will be deleted from your data banks not long after.
This game has some enjoyable parts, like the art, story potential, and cyberpunk aesthetics, but it is ultimately underwhelming.
Occasionally neat visuals and cyber magic can't save this cyberpunk shooter from firing damp squibs on all cylinders.
Foreclosed feels like its on a swinging pendulum where the extremes are “Frustrating” and “Mediocre” and it constantly swings in these directions within minutes of each play session. It’s all style and no substance, unfortunately. If the aiming was so haphazardly programmed and maybe an extra animation or two to make it feel like I wasn’t shooting the same person over and over, or maybe if the cover in the cover-based shooter would actually work, then maybe I could give it a pass, but the way Foreclosed is currently, I would say pass on this one. Even at deep discount, you’re just going to end up frustrated or bored.
