GRID Legends is a typical racing simulator that doesn't have what it takes to pull ahead.

GRID Legends doesn't do anything particularly new or ambitious, opting to stay close to the series' strong structure and add more content compared to its predecessor. More ambition would certainly be help to draw more attention to it, but regardless, it's still an excellent racing title.

‎GRID Legends repeats with an exciting arcade driving proposal. It may sin of being too continuous, but the formula works quite well and nostalgia is used to give it a more special touch. More circuits, more cars, more races and the same dynamics, which can sin of being unambitious and not really taking the baton of the new generation. However, it is a proposal that will satisfy arcade lovers looking for something more concrete in circuits.‎

In the end, Grid Legends with all its strengths and weaknesses is not the product that was promised.

Grid Legends fall short and leave us with a feeling that the franchise is still lost, searching for a path or identity. It has little to offer in the face of similar games that achieve greatness. Ultimately, it's a race with nothing glorious, nor legendary.

Grid Legends is a more than capable racer but not quite up to par with Codemasters' previous games.

But at the end of the day, it's essential to always know what to expect. GRID Legends isn't by any means supposed to be a racing sim. It's still an arcade title, and as long as you have this mind, there's absolutely no chance you'll end up disappointed.

GRID Legends makes racing exciting again thanks to its concise story mode, strong AI competitors, dramatic races, vehicle variety, and strong multiplayer. It's just a pity that most tracks are too familiar and team management is lacking.

Overall, GRID Legends feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Its on-track racing is really good fun, and with the right AI and event tweaks, and a little more content, it'd be a really solid sequel to GRID 2019. As it stands, it feels very safe and lacks the personality to really stand on its own amongst the competition. It gets real close to mimicking what PGR did so well all those years ago, but something's missing. Sparks often fly out on the track, but Legends doesn't quite have the spark to make its arcade action stick.

GRID Legends is a very good chaser for someone who is not looking for huge challenges, and will treat the game more as a nice escape from everyday duties.

With GRID Legends, Codemasters has delivered one of the most generous and inclusive racing games of recent years. Though while its moment-to-moment action is pretty much second to none, its career mode just doesn’t quite get its hooks in you like it should. Throw in limited multiplayer offerings, and you have a racing game that’s great but not spectacular. If you want to fling cars around a whole load of city-based tracks and gleefully trade paint with your competitors, this is the racing game for you. Just don’t go in expecting to get all that invested in your career exploits.

A return to arcade, a return to the docks, a return to drifting, and a return to putting fun above all else. This is what Grid should be about, enough fun to be had with the story and career modes, but an absolute hoon with a couple of mates in multiplayer.

Grid Legends is another great racing game from Codemasters, showing that with more support from a publisher like EA, the team can put out even better racing titles.

If you are looking for a fun arcade racer with tight controls and good car handling but do not mind the forced live-action story mode, Grid Legends might be for you. While the game won’t impress your friends with its visuals or audio, it does provide a lot of content, thanks to the career mode, social play, and race creation.

GRID Legends is a safe step forward for the series. It really doesn’t feel like Codemasters have over-extended themselves by any means for this entry. With Driven to Glory serving as the highlight of the experience, there’s not much else for fans of the series.

To Codemasters’ credit, it is the full version of GRID Legends, but now available in VR. It’s not a simple “VR experience” either: there’s a truckload of content in this game, making it one of the beefiest titles available on the Quest 2. However, the horrendous visuals, disappointing controls, and lack of immersion make this one a tough sell to all but the most die-hard VR enthusiasts, those who were eagerly waiting for a full-fledged racing sim on the system.

Grid Legends is a mediocre title that offers little to nothing of interest. You'll be treated to a predictable story, a weak driving model, and outdated visuals. While it's still a decent racing game, it doesn't stand a chance against its competition.

When it comes to motorsport, gamers are spoilt for choice. Whereas the majority of gamers gravitate to platform exclusives such as Forza Horizon 5, or the recently released Gran Turismo 7, there’s also a wealth of multi-platform titles too. One such is GRID Legends which has been developed by the racing heavyweights over at Codemasters.

GRID Legends is a solid and fun arcade racing game, not revolutionary but certainly not dull either. Codemasters has worked to improve on the critical aspects of the 2019 reboot, creating a title with enviable content and a revised (though not perfect) artificial intelligence. It's a pity that the story mode is a bit jumbled and customisation is reduced, but overall we're looking at a game that's highly accessible for those who aren't used to the genre, but also potentially satisfying for motorsport fans, assuming you're aware of a distinctly arcade driving model that's intentionally light and without any particular frills.

I was ultimately disappointed, but not surprised by GRID Legends. After all, with the level of quality the last game set I couldn’t imagine this one being that much different. And while I did really really enjoy the story mode, it was very short and not the kind of thing people buy racing games for. The rest of the single-player was generic and barebones, while the multiplayer is already circling the drain.
