If you come at it looking for a strategy game first and foremost, I suspect you’ll be disappointed. However, if you’re willing to view it more as an experience rather than a real test of your decision making chops, you’ll likely find yourself very engrossed.
Triangle Strategy is, without a doubt, a TRPG worth playing. Both those who have recently discovered a love for the genre (due to its level of accessibility) and long-time fans of TRPGs (as it is quite similar to older titles) will have a worthwhile experience here. The title presents us with a beautiful story, in which the player himself decides both its chapters and its end, as well as an eye-popping combat system. In the end, any player will certainly have the feeling of a fulfillment!

Definitely one of the greatest modern strategy RPGs and a worthy successor to the classics like Fire Emblem, Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics. It's able to take the best from the famous games that inspired it, while adding plenty of unique and interesting features of its own. If you own a Switch and enjoy turn-based RPGs - then what are you waiting for?
Triangle Strategy pushes heavily into its narrative, perhaps to the detriment of its turn-based combat. That will turn some away. But for those who are willing to push through, you'll find the game worth (nearly) every second you put into it. Excellent level design, diverse character abilities, and a tense political climate generate an engrossing experience for JRPG fans.
Triangle Strategy focuses on delivering a deep story with an emphasis on player choices and dealing with the consequences of those choices. The amount of narrative between battles might be too much for some players, however, it’s also what makes the game stand out. The combat and class systems are relatively straightforward but rewarding in their own right. The battle and story sections are wonderfully compartmentalised into chapters that for the first time ever on a Switch game I didn’t feel as though my hands were going to fold in from those dreadful joy-con controllers.

Triangle Strategy may be a bit of a weird name but it’s another role-playing game from the mind behind Bravely Default and Octopath Traveller, so everyone knows roughly what to expect. Lovely warm pixel-art, a tightly-woven narrative and a rewarding combat system are what I want, so let’s dig into it.

Its biggest issue comes in how it puts these various elements together. If you’re okay with long story sequences with the combat taking a bit of a back seat, you’ll love Triangle Strategy. Despite the balance of these various elements feeling a bit off, each element is so well executed that this is still a must-play for fans of the genre.
